Lotemax with contacts

Common Questions and Answers about Lotemax with contacts

lotemax

Avatar n tn He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
Avatar f tn I keep going back on a weekly basis for checkup and he advised me that I could go ahead and wear my contacts. Well I put my contacts back in and still continued to have problems with glare. I went back and on the next follow-up visit he said that he did see some SEI and that it would just take time for them to clear but he did not say to stop wearing contacts.
184420 tn?1326739808 have had the contacts out for a week and using the glasses but my eyes are still burning, itching, and watering when im outside during the day, working inside with lights off, blinds closed, etc... i just ordered a new pair of glasses with the transition lenses but they told me those are not really sunglasses but hoping it might help a little... does anyone have any ideas how to relieve this, preferably a natural way i dont want to take anymore prescription meds haha .....
Avatar f tn I am at my wits end. I have been getting eye infection after eye infection for over a year. At first I went to my regular doctor, then my optometrist and now an ophthalmologist. At first they were every 3-4 months, then monthly, and now they are occurring two weeks apart. Ophthalmologist thought it was my contacts but I've been wearing them for decades with no problems. I switched to dailys anyway and got an infection a week later.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks ago i was diagnosed with bacterial conjunctivitis. After a week of using the prescribed eye drops (Vigamox, Lotemax, Tobradex) it went away. The optometrist said the bacteria was gone and so I started wearing contacts after a day's rest. Within a day of getting off the medicated drops, there was a pink blur in my left eye. I continued using the medication thinking it was pink eye again. It worked for a week but now my eye is quite veiny.
Avatar m tn I slept in my contacts a month ago and woke up with blood shot eyes. This has happened three or four times in my lifetime. I am 26. I took out my contacts and put in alot of visine (which I know is wrong) and my eyes were mostly white three days later and I put my contacts in again. This happened again slight redness, for three weeks when I finally decided not to wear contacts for the following three weeks.
Avatar n tn So i went to my ophthalmologist again and he said that I was probably allergic to the contacts so he gave me some eye drops lotemax. I now am not wearing contacts at all do to my eyes getting red but I am still having eye problems my eye hurt near the corner of the eye , there are small veins that are around the cornea.
Avatar n tn I have been wearing contacts for 5 years probably, and I have had problems with red eyes in the last year. Never had problems before that. These past 3 months have been horrible, I have been waking up with bloodshot eyes every morning. Thinking it was my contact, I did not wear them for those months and still everyday my eyes would be red. If I use just dry eyes drop, the redness will not go away, but if I use the "get the red out" drops the redness goes away in about 5 minutes.
Avatar f tn I was dx'ed with SLK about 9 months ago (have had s&s x 4 years). Being treated by a corneal specialist. Have cauterized lower puncta and have tried plugging upper puncta with no success. Have worn large contacts. Have tried every eye drop known to the medical community. Had silver nitrate treatment x 2. Now am on 1% Cyclosporin, which burns like acid. Nothing has even begun to work.
522162 tn?1212096128 36 years old, pretty much healthy I've been a hard contact lens wearer for over 10 years. I worn the contacts since I've had the itchy skin. I have been give Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream 0.1% for ecezma around the neck area. ( I know this cream shouldn't be used around the eye area) Can you get ecezma around the eyes too? The Eye Dr. told me I have allergies...first time I've been diagnosed with allergies. Not sure what else to do?
Avatar f tn a week later my vision was hazy and I went to the Ophthalmologist he said I had infiltrates and prescribed Lotemax. I was on it for about a month but I never got 100%, still can hardly see at night (see glare, starburst and halos) I had to go to the doctor every week for a checkup. Well, on my last checkup with the Ophthalmologist I felt as if he just blew me off saying that it was just going to take time.
Avatar m tn Several months ago I suddenly started having contact lens intolerance in my left eye. I got new contacts and explained to the doctor that they were uncomfortable and it was like I could feel the edge gripping my eye. The discomfort progressed over several months, until now I can only stand a few hours of wear in that left eye. One day recently I put my contacts in and really focused on where I was feeling the discomfort. I noticed it much more so when I move my eye down and to the right.
Avatar n tn Main thing with blepharitis is lid hygeine. I think it very important to use regularly TheraTears Sterilid or Occusoft FOAM EYELID cleaner. Azasite works good with lid hygeine. Lotemax generally is not used for longer than 3-6 weeks absoute max.
Avatar n tn My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar n tn Lotemax is a steroid with less incidence of steroid problems. If FML did not work Lotemax may not. It is worth a try. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn I think you have an allergy with contact lenses. Stop wearing contacts & continue with glasses, this may help cornea to heal faster.
Avatar m tn Is zylet cortiosteriod/antibiotic a good alternative to Lotemax + asasite. Asasite burns a lot and is very uncomfortable twice a day to use.
917763 tn?1311628896 I wear contacts and have always had a dry eye problem after a few hours. But it seems lately the rewetting drops does not help at all. Usually I have the ceiling fan on in the bedroom but my nose gets so dry it hurts to breath thru it. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this issue at sometime during tx. I bought a humidifier today, I'm going to put next to the bed tonight. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn Alrex would be a milder steroid but Lotemax is also relatively safe. As long as you don't get significant pressrue elevation/ glaucoma, I would do what the cornea specialist recommends.
Avatar m tn Within 3 days I had severe pain and decreased vision and I call the hospital to be told the blurred vision and dizziness I was experiencing was normal side affects of this surgery. I was told to continue with the Maxidex. The next day (day 4) I was in worse pain and vision so I called again and they asked me to come into the surgery the next day still contnuing to use Maxidex!
Avatar m tn I have been taking Lotemax for a few months. My doctor said as long as my IOP remains low I can take this for years. If I develop a cataract from this and have to have surgery will cataract continue to comeback if I continue taking Lotemax?
Avatar f tn It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?
Avatar n tn t working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong. I was prescribed Lotemax drops to use in conjunction with Opcon A, and this worked for a while, but after a year or so it happened again, so I went to another ophthalmologist in Phoenix where I now live. He also found nothing wrong and gave me the same prescription for Lotemax.
Avatar f tn He did not find any foreign object, but said i was having an allergic reaction and put me on alrex. A day later i was back at Dr because my eye was on fire. He switched me to lotemax and said i might have been sensitive to alrex. Several days passed with no relief. I sought a second opinion, and was told they could not find any foreign object, but my eye was in distress and dry, so i was told to contunue lotemax, and use gel drops.
