Lotemax vs pred forte

Common Questions and Answers about Lotemax vs pred forte

lotemax

Avatar m tn I'm on Lotemax / Pred Forte and also on Ketorolac (generic brand of a perscription that I forget) which is an anti-inflamatory. I have access to Lotepred; is that the same as the Ketorolac, (anti-inflamatory)? Or, is Lotepred the same as Zymar (anti-biotic)? I'm trying to avoid renewing my perscription of Ketorolac for 8 more days.
Avatar n tn First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important. Second Alrex drops have been show to have minimal side effects for long term use, likely less than Lotemax.
Avatar n tn how useful would PRED FORTE be?
Avatar f tn The lymph nodes on my right sides were also swollen. On Monday, I was prescribed Lotemax to reduce the inflammation and used it for 2 days, 3 times a day. Then, I noticed a big decrease in vision in my right eye and stopped the medicine. On Friday, my doctor told me that I have EKC and the virus is in my cornea as well. No pseudomembrane was detected. My doctor told me that I have two options: 1. Do not use medication.
3223383 tn?1346474163 About 2 weeks ago, I noticed red, inflamed tissue (meaty, fleshy) in the corner of my eye, which my doctor says is granuloma. I am on Pred Forte 4x a day now and it's being tamed, but I'm going down to 2x a day starting Monday. I don't feel like it's getting any better. Should I keep taking steroid drops or get Kenalog injections? Is there any telling when this will stop being inflamed?
Avatar n tn Hello, yes I am currently now on 1 drop a day of pred forte for 2 more weeks, and then he said to use 1 drop every other day for another 2 weeks, and then stop. Tried using Lotemax but it made my eye super itchy and irritated. Thank you so much.
Avatar f tn Recently my doctor put me on pred forte, 3x a day i only put in twice, if at all. The other day he stated my pressure was high in both eyes (higher in left):(. I DID put pred forte in 2 hrs prior to appt. I have been very distraught since because the thought of glaucoma scares me. He stated there was some damage in left eye, did NOT dialate me so how would he know there is damage? My question is how long of pred forte use before damage is done? Is there a chance of a False Positive?
Avatar f tn Pred Forte is a steroid drop and doesn't cause dilation of the pupil. It may be that you are on another drop like homatropine or cyclogyl that is causing the dilation. Also, it might just be part of the normal healing process. Please talk to your surgeon to see how you are doing. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn On my last visit to the eye doctor, I was told that I am developing cataracts and to stop the Pred Forte and only use it for flare ups. Can one just stop using Pred Forte or does it have to be weaned off. Are there other eye drops for inflammation that do not contain steriods that may help. Help I am desparate.
Avatar n tn doctor said I had more inflammation than normal and to use Pred Forte every two hours, in addition to Xibrom and Zymar. Could increased inflammation cause the decrease in contrast? Thanks for any information you may offer.....
Avatar m tn My eye doctor has had me on Pred Forte for months. Now my IOP is high. My question is how long does it typically take for pressure to go down once you discontinue Pred Forte?
Avatar n tn Your eye will not get smaller. It may appear smaller due to the lid swelling and dropping down some. PRED FORTE is way too strong for al conj. Try cool compresses and over the counter Zaditor.
Avatar f tn i went to my surgeon last week for check up, my doctor told me to use artificial tears for maintenance, and pred forte for 3 days, the pred forte works, it removes the redness. But when i stop using it, my eye becomes red again. Is it ok if i use pred forte again?

Avatar n tn My surgeon has prescribed 4 drops of Pred Forte per day for 6 weeks tapering off for 2 weeks following cataract surgery on both eyes. I've read that PF actually delays healing in these cases. I had to use Prednisone for months for an unrelated problem and suffered all the usual side affects - moon face, obese trunk, etc. Do I really need to take Pred Forte for so long? I'm also using Zymar (for ten days) and Xibrom (for 8 weeks) in each eye.
1533563 tn?1292285307 It was after the cataract surgery that this problem began. Could it be a result of using Pred Forte following surgery? Will I damage my vision if I continue to use my eyes while they are burning?
Avatar f tn I am very weak from asthma, and I think it would be a mistake for me to go out. I have Pred Forte here[ it is prescribe for me 2 times a day now. I think that inreasing the Pred Forte to six times a day makes more sense that artificial tears. The eye is smaller and irritated. It has done this before, from illness. My former doctor gave me these directions when it became very small, when I was ill. I do not know if you can tell me anyting. Just let me know if you can. Maybe I should try both.
Avatar f tn First of all pred forte (PF) a strong steroid with many side effects if used for months on end (glaucoma, cataracts) is NOT the preferred treatment for GPC. The RX is Opticrom (cromylin sodium) and ceasing wearing contacts. It can take 6-12 months for the GPC to clear. Hopefully you are under the care of an eye MD. If you were prescribed PF by optometrist I would see an Eye MD ophthalmologist ASAP. Follow this link and read about GPC https://emedicine.medscape.
Avatar n tn If your allergy is bad enough to require a steroid then lotemax, or pred mild would be better choices.
Avatar m tn Trip to the MD next day revealed after culture that she had a MRSA infection in the lower ring channel. MRSA was susceptible to Gentamycin which she was on very frequently and Pred Forte was also started, after a few weeks on Gent, slowly to make sure infection did not get worse, but to help with redness and inflammation. Lower ring was also removed in early Oct 2011. All meds stopped in December 2011, leaving wife with a scar in the cornea where the MRSA was.
Avatar n tn Two weeks ago I had a trabekulectomy . I am taking Pred Forte 6 times a day. The first day post op, I took 4 doses of homotropine and 2 doses the next day. My eye is extemely light sensitive and my lid id slightly ptosic. Will these things clear up after I discontinue the Pred Forte? And is 4 weeks at this dose of Pred Forte dangerous?
3804392 tn?1404419858 this is the third time i got a uveitis in my left eye (i am hlab27+), earlier two times i was back home in my country (india) and doctor prescribed pred-forte+homatropine and it got cured in about a month. this time i am US and went to the doctor near to my place and she also gave the same stuff homatropine+predforte, i was carrying these two with me, but due to some insurance complication that in-network, out-network stuff had to consult another ophthalmologist.
Avatar f tn m not comfortable with the steroid drops( Pred Forte) and that all I wanted was to have my tear duct irrigated. She disagrees but does it anyway. Then she tells me that it is not blocked and that the only reason the duct is narrowed is because of inflammation. I cave and give into her suggestion. I used nothing but Pred Forte 4x a day for 2 weeks, 3x a day for 1 week, 2x a day for 2 weeks, then 1x a day for 2 weeks. I go in for a follow up 3 weeks later. Everything is great.
Avatar n tn Hi I'm a 34 yr old female with a hx of ankylosying spondylitis and recurrent uvietis. I am 19 weeks pregnant. I had an episode of uvietis during my 6th week of pregnancy. I had to take pred forte eye drops hourly. I did that for about 4 weeks but there wasn't improvement. I then took prednisone 30mg orally in addition to hourly drops. I then noticed that my eye was puffy and changed shape. I tapered off all the medicines but my eye swelling did not improve.
