Lotemax steroids

Common Questions and Answers about Lotemax steroids

lotemax

Avatar m tn Is zylet cortiosteriod/antibiotic a good alternative to Lotemax + asasite. Asasite burns a lot and is very uncomfortable twice a day to use.
Avatar m tn i am also suffering from nummular keratitis for almost 7 years and had been seeking from treatment from doctors since the last 2 years. they gave me steroids ( flarex and lotemax) and my eyes are becoming better now.
Avatar f tn Worried I had an eye infection I called my doctor and I was prescribed to go on lotemax for a month. Almost immediately the discharge went away and I was fine as I finished my prescription. During this time I visited my doc to double check things and she said it was actually mostly meibomian gland dysfunction along with allergies. She just recommended the lastacaft again along with a daily eye cleanser once I finished the lotemax.
Avatar n tn He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
Avatar n tn The patients have a bottle of lotemax steroid and they use it every hour until bedtime and on the half hour preservative free artifical tears. They are instructed not to rub the eye or use a tissue without shutting the eye first. They also put a drop of lotemax the next day on awakening, noon, evening then stop them and put in refrigerator to save for next eye visit. For our eye drops sensitive patients this takes care of the product.
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar n tn i went to see a corneal specialist 12 days after the onset. i had th virus in both eyes. the docto prescribed lotemax- to be tapered as well as restasis. my questions are as follows: 1) how long do i need to be on the steroids before my vision begins to improve? 2) by taking the steroids- did i increase the time i am contageous for? if so for how long? 3) what is the point of the steroid taper? 4) what is the likelyhood that after roughly six weeks on the steroids i will be healed?
168348 tn?1379357075 Not sure about the steroids though. If infection is suspected, it would be wise to use antibiotics that frequently but most would hold off on the steroids unless sure that it is not an infection. Make sure she is seeing an ophthalmologist and not an optometrist for this. If she feels like she is any worse in the AM, she should go see the ophthalmologist right away.
Avatar f tn I have been on and off Lotemax since Jan 2010. I keep having recurrent SEI after I stop or taper the steroid. My concern is that I keep having to go to different doctors due to schduling conflicts I am concerned about the damage the drops could be doing to my eye. I have only had my pressure measured twice and that is bcause I asked for it. Three weeks ago pressure was about 15 in both eyes yesterday it was 18 and 17.
Avatar m tn Well long term steroids is not good. Durezol is pretty strong. 5 months on steroids is a long long time. You could try weaker steroid like lotemax, you could discuss topical Restasis or Xiidra. You could try lipoflow treatment for your MGD, you could try MG probe and express. You could see a rheumatologist to see if you have any underlying auto-immune disease that might cause severe dry eyes and slow healing such as Sjorgren's Syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, sarcoid, etc.
Avatar m tn I went to my eye doctors office as a work in and diagnosed with concretions and dry eye. This doctor prescribed Lotemax, Restasis and told me I had chronic inflammation. He didn't check my pressure for glaucoma I didn't realize it until I went for my 6 week follow up and my pressure was 25 last year it was 14 and 16 and field tests looked good. So I may have drug induced glaucoma due to my family having it.
Avatar f tn a week later my vision was hazy and I went to the Ophthalmologist he said I had infiltrates and prescribed Lotemax. I was on it for about a month but I never got 100%, still can hardly see at night (see glare, starburst and halos) I had to go to the doctor every week for a checkup. Well, on my last checkup with the Ophthalmologist I felt as if he just blew me off saying that it was just going to take time.
Avatar n tn My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Usually temporary and reversible once steroids are discontinued. In the meantime, if your pressure is too high or if there is a concern of glaucomatis optic nerve damage, your doctor might temporarily describe pressure-lowering eyedrops.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar m tn Right now I am taking lotemax, one drop in each eye in the morning and which will relief from the dryness for whole day. but it will come back once I stop it. but doctors recommended to not take long time this steroid but I am using from almost 5 years. please advise me what can I do to get rid of this?
Avatar n tn Once I am weined off, it flares right back up. I am now on methatrexate (I refuse to take the steroids anymore) and that is not working. My right eye has been flared up for 3 months straight now, and it won't go away. The lotemax does not work. I need help. I am starting to feel depressed. I can't take waking up and going to bed hurting anymore.
Avatar n tn THere is no Zylet ointment that I know of. Even Zylet or Lotemax can affect the IOP significantly in some patients. Tobradex ointment will have basically the same effect on IOP as Tobradex drop. I might have other suggestions if I had more info about your case.
Avatar n tn i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Avatar m tn I have been taking Lotemax for a few months. My doctor said as long as my IOP remains low I can take this for years. If I develop a cataract from this and have to have surgery will cataract continue to comeback if I continue taking Lotemax?
Avatar n tn They then put 4 silcon plugs (upper and lower both eyes) and started me on lotemax drops twice daily, lotemax ointment at bedtime , xiidra twice daily and oasis tears four times a day and as needed. Am i on the right path? My eyes still burn when I use the computer and my left eye (has residual myopia) is constantly heavy, I feel like I need to close it or squeeze it shut really hard.
184420 tn?1326739808 Have you been 2 an eye Dr?I had the same problem and the eye dr gave me restasis and Lotemax. Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar m tn My pressures range naturally between 20 and 26. I was then asked to go back on the steriod eye drop Lotemax which I was very worried about as the steriod eye drop Maxidex had caused my pressures in less than a week to rise to 58! But they said I had to so I started Lotemax and Iopidine. I took myself back to the hospital 3 days later as I felt increased pain and my pressures were rechecked at 30 and 36. I mentioned is this the steriod as 3 days ago they were 24 and 26!
Avatar f tn It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?
Avatar n tn also very light sensative, and blurry.....
Avatar n tn t working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong. I was prescribed Lotemax drops to use in conjunction with Opcon A, and this worked for a while, but after a year or so it happened again, so I went to another ophthalmologist in Phoenix where I now live. He also found nothing wrong and gave me the same prescription for Lotemax.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure where you live but 1. You should be seeing an ophthalmologist 2. the development of droopy eyelid (ptosis) is a significant development which may, or may not, be related to your present problem and the use of steroid eye drops. In any case they should have offered you the opportunity to come in same day in an "emergency slot" If you have headache or double vision you should be taken to an Emergency Room immediately.
