Lotemax side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Lotemax side effects

lotemax

Avatar n tn First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important. Second Alrex drops have been show to have minimal side effects for long term use, likely less than Lotemax.
Avatar m tn I have daily vision changes (as per Lote. side effects) of 1 diopter+ .Also I take betoptic for IOP incease which is certainly due to the Lotemax. Therefore switching lote. to alrex wd possibly lower IOP,. reducing need for betoptic and reducing variable vision. what else could be done? Not a problem for most who haven't been taking steroids for 29 yrs.(aren't hyper sensitive) I might also add that a 74 yr old has less chance for rejection since his older immune system is weakened.
Avatar n tn She says she had been told that this medication with a its low dose does not contribute to cataracts, however, she is not so sure now. What I am reading on potential side effects is suggesting that Lotemax may cause cataracts. I would suggest you stop using the drops now.
Avatar f tn Should I try plugs 1st and if not successful, then go back to Restasis? 3. In reading about Restasis, are there future bad side effects in continued use such as cancer? I am starting to question if I should get another opinion. Thank you for any suggestions that you may have.
Avatar m tn I recently noticed a lumpy yellow nodule in my right eye. I picked up a flashlight and held it diagonally across my lense and saw that it seemed to be encapsulated, so I set up an appointment with my Opthamologist for the next day. I also checked my dilation reflex with the same light and nothing seemed amiss. The next day I found out that I apparently had Pinguecula in both eyes for quite some time.
Avatar m tn Within 3 days I had severe pain and decreased vision and I call the hospital to be told the blurred vision and dizziness I was experiencing was normal side affects of this surgery. I was told to continue with the Maxidex. The next day (day 4) I was in worse pain and vision so I called again and they asked me to come into the surgery the next day still contnuing to use Maxidex!
Avatar n tn Not so sure about tacrolimus. Look at the law offices looking for people treated with tacrolimus creams. Still some concern out there about serious side effects. Don't forsee approval anytime soon in U.S. As a side note, have your doctor look for demodex follicularis. Some research indicates that they can worsen lid margin disease.
Avatar n tn My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar m tn Is zylet cortiosteriod/antibiotic a good alternative to Lotemax + asasite. Asasite burns a lot and is very uncomfortable twice a day to use.
Avatar n tn Serious problems require serious medicines and ALL medicines have side effects. The optimal thing is for you to be under the care of an ophthalmologist and a rheumatolgist. There are no quick fixes for your problem and you are receiving what sounds like excellent care.
Avatar n tn i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Avatar f tn Worried I had an eye infection I called my doctor and I was prescribed to go on lotemax for a month. Almost immediately the discharge went away and I was fine as I finished my prescription. During this time I visited my doc to double check things and she said it was actually mostly meibomian gland dysfunction along with allergies. She just recommended the lastacaft again along with a daily eye cleanser once I finished the lotemax.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Lotemax for a few months. My doctor said as long as my IOP remains low I can take this for years. If I develop a cataract from this and have to have surgery will cataract continue to comeback if I continue taking Lotemax?
184420 tn?1326739808 Have you been 2 an eye Dr?I had the same problem and the eye dr gave me restasis and Lotemax. Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar f tn My eye doctor just Rx'd Lotemax (4 weeks) & Restasis (for life) for my extremely dry eyes. They feel like sand is in them. I am concerned because from what I can understand Restasis works through the auto immune system. I am in week 38 of standard treatment and since week 16 of treatment have had a hypothyroid. Any advice? I also was told this morning to increase Procrit from 20,000 to 40,000 a week because Hgb was only 8.5 on this weeks lab.
Avatar n tn Not sure if thats a side effect of lotemax/xiidra or if its an underlying cause of my condition. I also notice a film that covers my cornea from time to time. Is this cornea haze? As always any input is greatly appreciated.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have severe ocular rosacea and facial rosacea. I have been in just severe pain. I have kept a juournal for 6 months and stress form ilness ex: UTI and low humidity makes it go wild. I feel like I just can't handle this horrible pain much longer. My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?
Avatar n tn t working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong. I was prescribed Lotemax drops to use in conjunction with Opcon A, and this worked for a while, but after a year or so it happened again, so I went to another ophthalmologist in Phoenix where I now live. He also found nothing wrong and gave me the same prescription for Lotemax.
429949 tn?1224691579 Does anyone have any experience with these drops or have had any bad side effects from using them? I know what the information on the prescribing list says, but I trust someone who has actually taken them more than what that insert inside the box says! Any info would help!
939968 tn?1294948736 I successfully completed treatment in April 2007 and to this day still suffer side effects-lack of concentration-I know that staring thing well!-muscle aches-I feel like I'm walking through treacle, fatigue, depression, balance problems, lack of appetite and nausea so can relate to your comments! Eyesight was dreadful during treatment but has improved although I have swimming vision for an hour or so quite regularly.Oh well,at least I don't have hep c any more...
Avatar f tn He did not find any foreign object, but said i was having an allergic reaction and put me on alrex. A day later i was back at Dr because my eye was on fire. He switched me to lotemax and said i might have been sensitive to alrex. Several days passed with no relief. I sought a second opinion, and was told they could not find any foreign object, but my eye was in distress and dry, so i was told to contunue lotemax, and use gel drops.
Avatar n tn Lotemax is a steroid. You should get the instructions from the MD that prescribed them.
Avatar m tn i am also suffering from nummular keratitis for almost 7 years and had been seeking from treatment from doctors since the last 2 years. they gave me steroids ( flarex and lotemax) and my eyes are becoming better now.
1958686 tn?1468782903 I actually was finally able to get in to get checked and was put on Lotemax with much improvement. Eyes were very inflamed but doc felt it wasn't related to the surgery. Hmmmm.
Avatar f tn Since June I have been suffering from extremely dry eyes. I saw my optomotrist, and she prescribed optivar, and Soothe XP. That didn't help, so next she perscribed Lotemax along with the Soothe XP. Still no help, so now I am on Restasis, Lotemax, and SootheXP. Along with this I have to apply cold compresses , & bought an extra humidifier for my bedroom. It's getting to the point of impacting my jb, which is driving as a Courier 8 hrs a day. Will this go away as quickly as it came on?
Avatar f tn Also, some of the side effects of the eye drops I am experiencing. Being that I believe in God Jehovah I wonder sometimes if I spend too much time looking fir the cause when ultimately He is my healer. I believe He can work through you and my Dr .'s also believe even if I am not healed that He can still use me for His will. Not everyone in a congregation or church is without issues like diabetes for instance but God Jehovah still can use them.
