1) Elestat drops to control eye allergy, and 2) Lotemax drops to try to calm down my changing vision. Neither have worked although the Elestat did appear to fix mucus buildup in my eye.
The ophthalmologist is talking now about doing surgery. He wants me to have cataract surgery, which I believe is just because he sees early stage signs and wants to take care of this while we are doing things to my eyes.
"Lotemax is the only steroid that can be prescribed for long term therapy" This statement by PDophthalmology is incorrect.
Any steroid drop can be prescribed for long term use. The question is should they be and if they are needed what is the best choice.
First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important.
My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol.
The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample.

I had surgery to resect the temporal tissue regions of both of my eyes 5 months ago. While the blood (sub conj hem) was cleared up very fast within the first few days, it left my tissue purple and veiny that seems to not go away. After 5 months, my eyes look the same as it did 4 months ago. I feel extreme soreness in the area where my surgeon resected my tissue. I feel constant headaches above and behind my eyes.
Is zylet cortiosteriod/antibiotic a good alternative to Lotemax + asasite. Asasite burns a lot and is very uncomfortable twice a day to use.
i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Worried I had an eye infection I called my doctor and I was prescribed to go on lotemax for a month. Almost immediately the discharge went away and I was fine as I finished my prescription. During this time I visited my doc to double check things and she said it was actually mostly meibomian gland dysfunction along with allergies. She just recommended the lastacaft again along with a daily eye cleanser once I finished the lotemax.
He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
I have been taking Lotemax for a few months. My doctor said as long as my IOP remains low I can take this for years. If I develop a cataract from this and have to have surgery will cataract continue to comeback if I continue taking Lotemax?
in his response to a recent post, Dr. Oyakawa suggested to the poster that PRK might be a better option than LASIK because of dry eye. I found this quite interesting. The literature seems to suggest that LASIK may sever some of the nerves that facilitate tear production, and that PRK may not be as as problematic in that respect. I also have read that PRK is often used in place of LASIK for those patients who have thin corneas.
My Dream is to join Air Force in India and I am preparing for this since many years. LASIK and PRK were the suggestion from the Indian doctors for -2.5 Myopia. The problem is that LASIK and PRK operated person is not allowed in Indian Air Force. Kindly Suggest me some other treatment for the same. And I even want to know that Is PRK detectable by the advanced machines?
Oh, and is droopy eyelids a common complications of PRK? Another centre offers me LASEK. Compare to PRK, what is the advantage and disadvantage? Will LASEK leave me with more options in the future if the current one has failed? From my understanding, LASEK does not remove the top layer of the cornea prior to treatment. My pressures range naturally between 20 and 26. I was then asked to go back on the steriod eye drop Lotemax which I was very worried about as the steriod eye drop Maxidex had caused my pressures in less than a week to rise to 58! But they said I had to so I started Lotemax and Iopidine.
I took myself back to the hospital 3 days later as I felt increased pain and my pressures were rechecked at 30 and 36. I mentioned is this the steriod as 3 days ago they were 24 and 26!
It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?

They then put 4 silcon plugs (upper and lower both eyes) and started me on lotemax drops twice daily, lotemax ointment at bedtime , xiidra twice daily and oasis tears four times a day and as needed. Am i on the right path?
My eyes still burn when I use the computer and my left eye (has residual myopia) is constantly heavy, I feel like I need to close it or squeeze it shut really hard.
How did you do w/the PRK on left eye? Why did you have Lasik on one and PRK on the other? I am having PRK tomorrow and am so worried about pain because I have very dry eyes. Did you experience pain with PRK after surgery (the first night?) Good luck with your blurred vision, hope it clears up quickly.

t working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong. I was prescribed Lotemax drops to use in conjunction with Opcon A, and this worked for a while, but after a year or so it happened again, so I went to another ophthalmologist in Phoenix where I now live. He also found nothing wrong and gave me the same prescription for Lotemax.
I had a prescription of -1.25 (L) and -1.75 (R). I got PRK done for my right eye 11 days ago. I was told that my vision post-op would improve beyond pre-op levels after at least a few weeks after PRK. A week after the procedure, I put on my old prescription lenses (with my left eye closed) and noticed that I could see much clearer (20/25 with glasses and between 20/40 and 20/30 without).
He did not find any foreign object, but said i was having an allergic reaction and put me on alrex. A day later i was back at Dr because my eye was on fire. He switched me to lotemax and said i might have been sensitive to alrex. Several days passed with no relief. I sought a second opinion, and was told they could not find any foreign object, but my eye was in distress and dry, so i was told to contunue lotemax, and use gel drops.
Thanks for your response to my question re "relaxing incision". I had a 2nd opinion at the same clinic where I had the cataract surgery. My surgeon did not want to see me again after the 3 wk. post op visit until I was ready to do the right eye surgery. I was not happy with the results of the Restor Lens and sought a 2nd opinion with the head of the dept., world renowned doctor. He said give it more time - I did, but no visual improvement of any kind.
I am 36 years old and got posterior subcapsular cataracts. I had my PRK last year to correct my distant vision. It is very unfortunate that, I got cataracts now. It was a big outburst for me, but, life has to move on.. and now I started researching what kind of lens are suggested for people like me (who already had PRK).
Take into account too that this person had PRK surgery but almost didn't get with visual aberrations,they are minimum!
