Common Questions and Answers about Lotemax glaucoma

lotemax

Avatar m tn t see my regualar Glaucoma specialist I suppose it was over looked not to check my history as a suspect. When will I know if I have Glaucoma I used the Lotemax on 8/30 the day of my appointment. It is a good chance I will have it since my mom had it? How long will the pressure be high and will it go higher? Thank you in advance.
493068 tn?1224765315 I have severe ocular rosacea and facial rosacea. I have been in just severe pain. I have kept a juournal for 6 months and stress form ilness ex: UTI and low humidity makes it go wild. I feel like I just can't handle this horrible pain much longer. My opthalmologist just gave me Lotemax reluctantly because of glaucoma. Is this rosacea suppose to be this paiful? I take Doxy daily, Travatan, erythromycin eye ointment. I am just at my wits end. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn The need for the repeat iridotomies suggest that either the initial treatment was incomplete or closed. Lotemax can cause steroid induced glaucoma in some patients. A short time pressure of 58 will usually not cause permanent damage unless you already had some nerve damage. Dr. O.
Avatar m tn Two surgeries for correcting vision plus a trabeculotomy (glaucoma surgery). 3 surgeries in total. Glaucoma surgery because first surgery raise eye pressure to 50. Right eye marinated with zymar, forte, acular and lotemax, many-many follow-up appointments.
Avatar m tn Hi, I had LASIK on Aug 15. Doctor put me on TobraDex 2 Drops every 2 Hours for the firs day. Second Day he reduced the dosage to 4 drops a day but I mis understood & but 2 drops in each eye 4 times a day. After a week the doctor measured My eye pressure & noted it was a little high. He gave me Alphagan 2 drops a day to control the IOP and asked me to take the topradex 4 times a day for 1 week (one drop each time), then gradually reduce the dosage by one drop every week.
Avatar f tn Most people that take prednisone drops do not get steroid glaucoma. Untreated uveitis can cause a terrible type of glaucoma called uveitic glaucoma. When you see your retina MD ask him/her about switching to durezol steroid eye drops if you're not better. Also you will may need a glaucoma drop to keep the pressure (could be steroid or uveitis) down.
Avatar f tn For instance, whenever I would look at a straight line, it would become wavy! All testing for glaucoma came negative but I was diagnosed with pigment dispersion disorder - with no sympthoms related to pigment glaucoma. What's going on with me? I am taking lotemax to reduce my inflammation, and I'm uncertain which type the eye inflammation is because my eye specialist didn't state the type nor did I ask.
Avatar n tn "Lotemax is the only steroid that can be prescribed for long term therapy" This statement by PDophthalmology is incorrect. Any steroid drop can be prescribed for long term use. The question is should they be and if they are needed what is the best choice. First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important.
Avatar n tn My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
Avatar n tn They then put 4 silcon plugs (upper and lower both eyes) and started me on lotemax drops twice daily, lotemax ointment at bedtime , xiidra twice daily and oasis tears four times a day and as needed. Am i on the right path? My eyes still burn when I use the computer and my left eye (has residual myopia) is constantly heavy, I feel like I need to close it or squeeze it shut really hard.
Avatar f tn Yes, it is quite possible you have at least some IOP increase due to the steroids. That is called steroid glaucoma. There is a drop called Lotemax that is less likely to raise the IOP. I don't know if it is available in India but I would assume it might be obtained. Steroids are for inflammation. You might ask your ophthalmologists why you have to stay on the steroids so long.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar m tn Is zylet cortiosteriod/antibiotic a good alternative to Lotemax + asasite. Asasite burns a lot and is very uncomfortable twice a day to use.
Avatar n tn i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Avatar f tn I'm not sure where you live but 1. You should be seeing an ophthalmologist 2. the development of droopy eyelid (ptosis) is a significant development which may, or may not, be related to your present problem and the use of steroid eye drops. In any case they should have offered you the opportunity to come in same day in an "emergency slot" If you have headache or double vision you should be taken to an Emergency Room immediately.
Avatar f tn Worried I had an eye infection I called my doctor and I was prescribed to go on lotemax for a month. Almost immediately the discharge went away and I was fine as I finished my prescription. During this time I visited my doc to double check things and she said it was actually mostly meibomian gland dysfunction along with allergies. She just recommended the lastacaft again along with a daily eye cleanser once I finished the lotemax.
Avatar n tn He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Lotemax for a few months. My doctor said as long as my IOP remains low I can take this for years. If I develop a cataract from this and have to have surgery will cataract continue to comeback if I continue taking Lotemax?
Avatar m tn My eye pressure before the surgery was 18 the day after it was 24 1 week later it was 50 when i went in for a recheck I was put drops to decrease the pressure lotemax combigan the pressure went down to 39 returned 1 week later and pressure was still 39 they added xylatan went back 10 days later Pressure was 28 was told to continue drops and that in 3 or 4 wks I should schedule YAG procedure My question is how soon after surgery should you consider YAG and what are the risks to that as iv
184420 tn?1326739808 Have you been 2 an eye Dr?I had the same problem and the eye dr gave me restasis and Lotemax. Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar f tn It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?
Avatar m tn I obviously do not want to be on steroids enough to develop cataracts/glaucoma; I am on durezol 2x a day both eyes. I have severe MGD, dry spots from a previous PRK surgery, severe ocular allergies. I'm afraid to think this surgery has made my eyes more "vulnerable" to these pre-existing conditions.
Avatar n tn t working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong. I was prescribed Lotemax drops to use in conjunction with Opcon A, and this worked for a while, but after a year or so it happened again, so I went to another ophthalmologist in Phoenix where I now live. He also found nothing wrong and gave me the same prescription for Lotemax.
Avatar f tn He did not find any foreign object, but said i was having an allergic reaction and put me on alrex. A day later i was back at Dr because my eye was on fire. He switched me to lotemax and said i might have been sensitive to alrex. Several days passed with no relief. I sought a second opinion, and was told they could not find any foreign object, but my eye was in distress and dry, so i was told to contunue lotemax, and use gel drops.
Avatar n tn Lotemax is a steroid. You should get the instructions from the MD that prescribed them.
Avatar m tn i am also suffering from nummular keratitis for almost 7 years and had been seeking from treatment from doctors since the last 2 years. they gave me steroids ( flarex and lotemax) and my eyes are becoming better now.
Avatar n tn After the infection was over ,There was no pain or redness in the eye but vision was little fuzzy as compare to my right eye, I went to Opthamologist and she put me on Lotemax drops for 7 days, I used drops and went back after a week and she said, inflammation is still there and she put me on Prednisone 40 mg TABLETS for 4 days with Lotemax eye drops every one hour. I am really worried as there are lot of side effects of Prednisone, This is my second day on Prednisone and so far i am good.
1958686 tn?1468782903 I actually was finally able to get in to get checked and was put on Lotemax with much improvement. Eyes were very inflamed but doc felt it wasn't related to the surgery. Hmmmm.
