Lotemax conjunctivitis

Common Questions and Answers about Lotemax conjunctivitis

lotemax

Avatar n tn Lotemax is a steroid. You should get the instructions from the MD that prescribed them.
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar n tn t working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong. I was prescribed Lotemax drops to use in conjunction with Opcon A, and this worked for a while, but after a year or so it happened again, so I went to another ophthalmologist in Phoenix where I now live. He also found nothing wrong and gave me the same prescription for Lotemax.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks ago i was diagnosed with bacterial conjunctivitis. After a week of using the prescribed eye drops (Vigamox, Lotemax, Tobradex) it went away. The optometrist said the bacteria was gone and so I started wearing contacts after a day's rest. Within a day of getting off the medicated drops, there was a pink blur in my left eye. I continued using the medication thinking it was pink eye again. It worked for a week but now my eye is quite veiny.
Avatar f tn A few days later I went back to the OD and was given Azasite for what was possibly a bacterial conjunctivitis. This seemed to clear the infection and in about 5 days I was free of the red eye and pain so I resumed contact lens wear after about 10 days. Well, about 3 days after wearing my contacts I noticed that my vision was very hazy like looking through a frosted glass window and lights seem to have a starburst or halo effect.
Avatar f tn I am at my wits end. I have been getting eye infection after eye infection for over a year. At first I went to my regular doctor, then my optometrist and now an ophthalmologist. At first they were every 3-4 months, then monthly, and now they are occurring two weeks apart. Ophthalmologist thought it was my contacts but I've been wearing them for decades with no problems. I switched to dailys anyway and got an infection a week later.
Avatar n tn "Lotemax is the only steroid that can be prescribed for long term therapy" This statement by PDophthalmology is incorrect. Any steroid drop can be prescribed for long term use. The question is should they be and if they are needed what is the best choice. First many conditions such as chronic uveitis require long term therapy of strong steroids such as pred forte, vexol, FML As with any steroid taken long term side effects are common and close monitoring is important.
Avatar n tn My doctor said i would have to stop using Tobradex as the steroid has caused the raised eye pressure and prescribed instead Lotemax and Cravit to be used 6 times a day and Azarga 2 times a day. Upon reading, i just realised that Lotemax also contained steroid, so why is it given to me then? I have asked her and she said Lotemax rarely cause raise eye pressure. I am just not sure. Can a kind ophthalmologist assure me this is alright? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Lotemax is the brand name of the drug loteprednol. It is a steroid anti-inflammatory like Pred Forte and likely is to be used in place of Pred Forte (or the other way around). You would need to ask your doctor to be sure. "Lotepred" on the label must refer to the generic name of loteprenol. The brand name of Ketorolac, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory, is Acular. So, nothing you have replaces the Ketorolac. Sorry. Maybe your doctor could give you a sample. P.S.
Avatar m tn Is zylet cortiosteriod/antibiotic a good alternative to Lotemax + asasite. Asasite burns a lot and is very uncomfortable twice a day to use.
Avatar n tn i also experience itching and irritation in both eyes from time to time. SHOULD I START LOTEMAX? will it be effective?
Avatar f tn Worried I had an eye infection I called my doctor and I was prescribed to go on lotemax for a month. Almost immediately the discharge went away and I was fine as I finished my prescription. During this time I visited my doc to double check things and she said it was actually mostly meibomian gland dysfunction along with allergies. She just recommended the lastacaft again along with a daily eye cleanser once I finished the lotemax.
Avatar n tn He mentioned that I had a lot of protein build up on my contacts and did a stain and he said I had dry eye. He prescribed Lotemax .05 as a first step therapy. Being fearful of steriods, he said that this is a mild steriod and hasn't had anyone have any problems with it. He said it's completely safe. Well, one month later, he informs me that I have cataracts (posterior subcapsular cataracts) and that they are a .5 on a scale of 1-4.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Lotemax for a few months. My doctor said as long as my IOP remains low I can take this for years. If I develop a cataract from this and have to have surgery will cataract continue to comeback if I continue taking Lotemax?
184420 tn?1326739808 Have you been 2 an eye Dr?I had the same problem and the eye dr gave me restasis and Lotemax. Restasis takes about 3 months of use before it actually works, thats where the Lotemax kicks in-it is a steroid that helps the Restasis get to work faster. No more problems for me.Chronic Dry Eyes will do this to you.I was miserable with mine.
Avatar m tn My pressures range naturally between 20 and 26. I was then asked to go back on the steriod eye drop Lotemax which I was very worried about as the steriod eye drop Maxidex had caused my pressures in less than a week to rise to 58! But they said I had to so I started Lotemax and Iopidine. I took myself back to the hospital 3 days later as I felt increased pain and my pressures were rechecked at 30 and 36. I mentioned is this the steriod as 3 days ago they were 24 and 26!
Avatar f tn It seems to be very slowly detaching with the use of Lotemax and Nevanac eye drops, with a small section yet to go. Today I experienced a sharp pain in my left eye while reaching for something, then a couple minutes of tears flowing. I've experienced that pain (tho not as sharp) a couple of times during this period. Felt like an eyelash in the eye, but there was nothing visible in my eye. bWhat are the possible causes? Could it be the membrane separating?
Avatar f tn He did not find any foreign object, but said i was having an allergic reaction and put me on alrex. A day later i was back at Dr because my eye was on fire. He switched me to lotemax and said i might have been sensitive to alrex. Several days passed with no relief. I sought a second opinion, and was told they could not find any foreign object, but my eye was in distress and dry, so i was told to contunue lotemax, and use gel drops.
Avatar m tn i am also suffering from nummular keratitis for almost 7 years and had been seeking from treatment from doctors since the last 2 years. they gave me steroids ( flarex and lotemax) and my eyes are becoming better now.
Avatar n tn After the infection was over ,There was no pain or redness in the eye but vision was little fuzzy as compare to my right eye, I went to Opthamologist and she put me on Lotemax drops for 7 days, I used drops and went back after a week and she said, inflammation is still there and she put me on Prednisone 40 mg TABLETS for 4 days with Lotemax eye drops every one hour. I am really worried as there are lot of side effects of Prednisone, This is my second day on Prednisone and so far i am good.
Avatar m tn The various causes of conjunctivitis are Bacterial, Viral, Allergic conjunctivitis, Noninfectious, nonallergic conjunctivitis and Chlamydial infections. It is important to rule out the cause of the eye condition. Bacterial conjunctivitis will usually have purulent discharge and can be diagnosed by gram staining. As for viral conjunctivitis are concerned, adenovirus is the commonest virus to be involved. A rapid (10 minute) test for adenoviral conjunctivitis is now available.
1958686 tn?1468782903 I actually was finally able to get in to get checked and was put on Lotemax with much improvement. Eyes were very inflamed but doc felt it wasn't related to the surgery. Hmmmm.
Avatar m tn My eye doctor told me I had inflammation due to dry eyes and put me on Lotemax for 2 weeks (1 drop in the morning and 1 drop at night) I was wondering if it’s safe to use for 2 weeks without any problems?
Avatar n tn I am a contact lens wearer and 2 months ago I was diagnosed with Viral Conjunctivitis. After several visits to my optician who informed me it is still there but getting better, I am now experiencing more problems. My eyes are sore and my glasses feel no where as strong as they did. I have finally been referred to the Opthalmologist and am now awaiting an appointment. My worry is...
Avatar m tn What type of conjunctivitis can have an extended period without self-resolving? I have read that adenoviral conjunctivitis self resolves within 1-2 weeks and bacterial generally resolves withing 2- 3 weeks. Therefore, I am growing concerned with the "staying power" of this redness. As additonal info, I am also concerned that the redness is related to a sexual exposure I had as the redness began within a few days. So my questions are the following?
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me terramycin ointment (4 times daily) and vigamox drops (3 times daily) to treat conjunctivitis in both eyes. However, when applying terramycin ointment for the first two days, my eyes became more uncomfortable (watery, more discharge) and red. Is this is good sigh for healing? or should I stop usage?
