Avatar n tn Being fair-skinned with blue eyes, I've always had an issue with redness, but have been able to control it with Bausch & Lomb Opcon eye drops. However, a couple of years ago it got to the point where that wasn't working any more, so I went to an ophthalmologist in Orlando who examined me and said there was nothing wrong.
Avatar f tn With Bausch and Lomb's SofPort AO intraocular lens there are two versions; there is the option to chose the lens with "Violet Shield Technology"... the L161AO-V (as opposed to the L161AO). According to the Bausch and Lomb website, "The new SofPort AO Lens with Violet Shield Technology preserves sight day and night by taking a new approach to blocking harmful light rays.
Avatar m tn does Boush-Lomb (?spelling) make a monofocal IOL and if so how good is it? Compared to Technis and others? My surgeon is recommending the Boush- Lomb> Thanks for any feedback.
Avatar m tn Your mom should try 5% sodium chloride eye drops during the day and ointment at bedtime (Muro-128 from Bausch and Lomb) to pull fluid from the cornea and help to improve her vision.
Avatar m tn We use Alcon and tecnis aspherics and torics and the Crystalens HD These new spheric IOLs are like modern automobiles and very reliable from company to company in US and Europe. The "premium" focusing IOLs are where differences appear.
Avatar m tn The state-of-the-art IOL (covered by insurance) is the aspheric monofocal lens. Take a look at the patient education video at www tecnisiol com. Alcon and Bausch & Lomb also make excellent aspheric monofocal lenses.
Avatar f tn the capsule as is essential for placement of a moveable IOL as the instruction provided by Bausch and Lomb clearly states, and you can somehow know this for sure, then perhaps you can convince your doctor to refund your money. My doctor did. Cleaning the gunk after the lens is in place can be done, but is risky.) I feel so sorry for you. I know how you feel. You had such hopes... and you spent so much money. Let me know if I can help.
Avatar m tn The original AREDS 2 study was done with 2 pills/day PLUS A MULTIVITAMIN. AREDS 2 study showed it slowed 'dry' (non-exudative) ARMD by about 30% and may reduce the risk of 'wet' ARMD developing.
203589 tn?1267475170 Bausch & Lomb makes two different types of eye vitamins with lutein. Both are available without prescription at most drug stores. PreserVision with lutein (2-per-day soft gels) is marketed "to slow the progression of moderate to advanced age-related macular degeneration." Ocuvite with lutein (1-per-day soft gel) is targeted to adults 50+ who are at higher risk for macular degeneration because it runs in their family.
Avatar n tn Is is common for someone to have the Bausch & Lomb Crystalens implanted and to lose all reading capability in that eye? Would it take longer than 3 months for the eye to heal and have reading capability restored? What could be the cause of this?
Avatar f tn such as glare, halos, arcs, rings, streaks, starbursts and shadows ... than that of the Bausch and Lomb ??? . Regarding the SofPort, is either or both of the edges frosted ??? . Again, regarding the design of the edge of the optic, has clinical experience (as opposed to laboratory tests) with either IOL shown one to be superior to the other in minimizing migration of epithelial cells and thus minimizing Posterior Capsular Opacification (PCO) ???
Avatar n tn I also wanted a Tecnis IOL after watching their great patient education video (www tecnisiol com). But the surgeons in my area all seemed to use Alcon IOLs exclusively. So I got Alcon's aspheric monofocal IOL instead (the AcrySof IQ), and my results were excellent. I really don't think I would have done better with AMO's Tecnis. (Bausch & Lomb also makes an aspheric monofocal lens, which Dr. Kutryb highly recommends.
Avatar f tn I also wear contact lenses for past 7 years, and I get lenses of my power, though they are the yearly disposable soft lenses. You can check with Bausch and Lomb. They have it and even Johnson and Johnson. Please get your retians checked regularly by a retina specialist.
Avatar n tn He did check my pressure (but not check the eye) last week (3 weeks in) and it was 19. I read that Lotemax should only be a 10 day course from Baush and Lomb. Why would he schedule me for a month? I'm just trying to figure out how I went from perfect eye health to cataracts in 1 month. Should this have been a first line therapy? I do have Graves (very mild) eye disease and pressures always around 18. I'm only 45 and I'm scared that I damaged my eye lenses with a steroid.
Avatar m tn A power lower than +6 does NOT require a 3-piece IOL. The fact is that the only IOLs made by Alcon in powers lower than +6 happen to be in an older 3-piece model. I've read that one-piece IOLs have become more popular in recent years because they are easier for surgeons to implant. Capes55, there is an aspheric monofocal IOL available in the power you need. It is the SofPort by Bausch & Lomb, available in powers 0 through +34.
807799 tn?1238278017 Linda, quite simply I would recommend a monofocal aspheric lens like the Acrysof IQ, Bausch and Lomb LI61AO, or AMO Tecnis. All have an amazing track record, the highest visual quality available. Keep it simple and don't get caught up in the accommodating or multifical IOL's with rings of power, smaller optics and hinged haptics. You don't need to go there. They have their place with the right patients but not here, especially with an anxious patient.
Avatar n tn They must have a reason, but that sounds irresponsible. Bausch and Lomb should be required to black box that "feature", if indeed, the "HD500" does not significantly attenuate UV transmission. I have not read on this topic but plenty of people nowdays say UV is an important cataract factor, and is probably not so good for the retina I have spent a lot of time on the internet and once saw an IOL feature grid. Unfortunately I failed to bookmark it.
Avatar f tn As Joe's post (above) indicates, his results with ReStor are excellent. Common problems with this lens include glare, halos, and waxy vision. Some people with ReStor are unable to drive at night. It can take up to a year to "neuroadapt" to multifocal IOLs, and reportedly a small percentage of people are never able to adjust to them. Many people with ReStor still need glasses some of the time.
Avatar n tn I payed the doctor $3,500 extra for this lens, Bausch and Lomb pays them a little kickback + consultation fees (i.e. payoff money) and I am made to suffer. Over a hundered thousand Crystalens surgeries and they can't define who would be a good canadite for their lens? Can't or don't want to? I should never have drank their Kool Aid.
Avatar n tn Anyone taking it and personally swear by it. How high a dosage are you taking?
Avatar n tn My surgery is scheduled for Feb 9 and the plan now is to implant a single focus ashperic IOL, with the Bausch & Lomb Soft Port being the lens most often used. My surgeon is connected with a large eye clinic which has a satellite office in my town, and is only in town once a week. I have scheduled a appointment with him on Feb 6 to discuss my operation. I just want to make sure that we are on the same page and I am not missing something.
Avatar m tn Thanks SM. I'm going to look into them as soon as I get off work today. As the day progresses my eye ends up feeling better. In the morning, sheesh... it feels like I drag myself to work with it. I've had allergies to hay in the past but we've had our first cut around here and it isn't bothering me. its cottonwood trees.... and they are everywhere.
Avatar f tn two days ago i was diagnosted with corneal edema by my optometrist when i went to get an eye exam. i have really foggy vision in both my eyes, he told me to leave out my contacts for a month and it shall clear up. but i saw online that bausch & lomb has a muro solution that it hypertonic eye drops and was wondering if using that will help clear and remoisten my eyes and clear up the fogginess better than just forcing myself to tear up all the time?
Avatar n tn Check out the patient education video at www tecnisiol com to learn what aspheric monofocal IOLs can do for you. (The Tecnis IOL is made by AMO. Alcon and Bausch & Lomb also make excellent aspheric monofocal IOLs.) These lenses can be set for blended vision (distance vision in dominant eye, intermediate in near). If all goes as planned, you would only need glasses for prolonged reading or seeing small print.
Avatar m tn Simple answer - no multifocals or accomodating implants for you since you are a pilot. Recommend Bausch and Lomb LI61AO aspheric monofocal lens for you since it has neither plus or minus spherical abberation. If your surgeon has an aberrometer and know exactly your spherical abberation he could consider the tecnis or acrysof sn60wf but be do not use these last two lenses if you had hyperopic lasik. Monovision is not a good idea for a pilot.
Avatar f tn The information regarding what Bausch & Lomb has done in redesigning their IOL is considered "proprietary" information, so I have been told; which means they are not obligated to devulge anything that they don't want potential competition to know; however, you can contact Consumer Relations from the B&L website and see what they can tell you regarding what problems were addressed and how changes were made with each redesign effort.
Avatar f tn Hi Ella43. I have VERY dry eyes, double vision and nonstop floaters. It is common with MS. My particular problems are sometimes brought on with retribular neuritis which is optical neuritis but behind the eye. I've learnred to just ignore it or stop working on computer or reading for a while to give the eyes a test. I don't think dry eye is a typical symptom of brain tumor. You might want to try some OTC Moisture drops.
