With that information, you can work with your physician to find a regimen that will make you feel better.
Avatar m tn hepatomegaly and raised jugular venous pulse are usually indicative of right heart failure. Measures to control the heart failure will prevent pedal edema. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn I was prescribed Celexa during tx for HCV, and my liver was in pretty rough shape. I had no problems with it. The other drugs I am not familiar with, so I can't shed any light there - just a layperson's experience with the Celexa.
Avatar m tn m on Bp meds losartan 50 mg...my heart echo an stress test in march of this ur was ok too. Should I be worried? Also can't understand my cardiologist too well.

I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it! I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?
Avatar m tn Will this lower my life expectancy? uncontrolled hypertension can lead to many things such as stroke, heart attack, heart failure, kidney problems, and more so yes, if not controlled, hypertension can lower your life expectancy 3. Can this explain my erectile dysfunction? Yes.
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn report says pressures are consistent with moderate pulmonary hypertension and that right side pressure is due to diastolic dysfunction. Started on Losartan. Does this mean that my lungs are involved, causing back pressure or that heart failure is causing the pulmonary hypertension? Should I see a pulmonary specialists or is this all heart related within the realm of my cardiologist?
Avatar m tn Hello and welcome to the forum: I am sorry for all that you have been going through. It is clear from your post that you are exceedingly stressed out. So here is my advice: 1. Take a DEEP breath. You are going to be ok. 2. I can not tell you if you have heart failure. However, based on what you have told me thus far, it is not particularly convincing for heart failure (this is of course extremely good news). And I am not sure what you mean by "heart symptoms".
2009161 tn?1327915695 My mom was treated with By pass surgery recently and she has been shown that there is calcium lesion that has been there in one of her heart arteries, Is it because of these tablets(Losartan Potasium). Please help me clarify this Doctor.
Avatar m tn I have a cyst on my right kidney, and my GFR was also stage 3. They attributed it to a heart med I was taking-Losartan. A follow up, including a 24 hour urine collectin showed my kidneys are ok. The cyst, although large, is superficial. Anyway, the nephrologist told me I'm ok, and not to worry.
Avatar m tn My 93 y/o Mom just had a stress test and echo. They show a 52% LVEF but a small infarct area at the bottom of the heart. She has no obvious symptoms but her cardiologist has put her on a new regimen of 4 meds (statin, Plavix, losartan, metoprolol)... which she finds terribly overwhelming. My question is ... why both losartan (an Angiotensin II) and metoprolol (a beta blocker)? Don't they both do the same thing by lowering blood pressure and opening up the coronary arteries?
Avatar m tn No just the mess and my heart rate is anywhere from low 50's to 70's
Avatar f tn s, kidney scans and urine samples, so I was put on 50 mg of Losartan- atid a day, got a machine for the upper arm and everything has been normal since then (I measure everyday). My mother has had hypertension for about 10 years now, but her measurements weren't as high and she gets it from being obese.

Avatar f tn I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I seem to be very sensitive to these medications and felt starting right off with 100 mg was a bit high. Everything I've read online suggests people are usually started off with 50 mg.
Avatar m tn I agree with you, I was put on losartan and didn't have high blood pressure and felt faint, tired, dizzy. my head went numb in the back and I started to feel faint on 25-50mg a day. maybe it's better to not take it. what happens in hypotension is that the oxygen flow to the heart and brain is actually reduced so you become faint which is terrible because then your cells start to die.
Avatar n tn Non-selective beta-blockers, such as propranolol act on both types of receptors, in both heart and lungs. Propranolol and other medicines in its class are capable of evoking bronchospasm in people with asthma. Metoprolol is selective, but not entirely so; thus, asthma worsens in some people given this “selective” medicine and you may be one of them. Your doctor may have prescribed the metoprolol for both relief of the syncope and treatment of your hypertension.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm the mom who has a son that was diagnosed by chance with a bicuspid aortic valve and dilated aortic root at the age of 13 years old. He was diagnosed in May 2008. Initially the ascending part of the aorta was 2.6 and has progressed steadily with his six month checkups to 4.0 as of Feb 15, 2010. His root measured 3.8. He has had all genetic testing (Marfan's, Loeys-Dietz, Famial Thoraic) and they were all negative.
Avatar n tn Losartan also may cause a persistent cough, increase serum potassium, impotence, and angioedema. Losartan may reduce kidney function in some patients and should not be used by patients who have bilateral renal artery stenosis (narrowing of both arteries going to the kidneys). Rare cases of rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown) have been reported.
Avatar n tn Obviously a doctor believes you need it, I'm betting your blood pressure is increasing. Believe me, high blood pressure can lead to some very troublesome problems like an enlarged heart. Why not try it? See if if works for you. If you are completely against trying the drug, ask your doctor to try a drug like hydrochlorothizide, a mild drug that can reduce high blood pressure.
Avatar m tn Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily. After just a few weeks on the Losartan, I became hyperthyroid for a while, and my doctor lowered my dose of Armour (down to 60.) I have not noticed heat intolerance, but I am losing weight--slowly (which I don't mind as I am about 20 lbs over bikini-wearing level.) Never heard of the Marshall protocol, but I'm going to look it up!
Avatar n tn For at least 3 years I have been taking a 25mg Losartan potassium tablet and a 40mg Furosemide tablet every morning. I went to a new chemist this morning and he said I should never take the 2 tablets together as they will cause low blood pressure. I went to the doctors last year for a check up and complained of low blood pressure ( I took a list of my last 20 readings) but was told it is nothing to worry about!.
