Loestrin ovarian cysts

Common Questions and Answers about Loestrin ovarian cysts

loestrin

Avatar f tn Hi there. You are right in that many women have ovarian cysts without even knowing about them, but when you start having pain, bleeding or bloating it's better to get checked no matter how old you are. They usually do first an ultrasound to see how your ovaries are and depending on what they see they can order an MRI or blood work. Don't jump into conclusions so fast, wait for the ultrasound result and talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I had two dermoid cysts/tumors, one on each ovary (the one on left ovary was very large) that had been misdiagnosed for years. Only in the last two years was I in any kind of pain. I had emergency surgery last May to remove the dermoids. I did not have a real period until March. I was put on Loestrin birth control pills to "give my ovaries a rest" and stop functional cysts from occuring. But for six months I was in excruciating pain.
1324051 tn?1275414812 ve had a transvaginal ultrasound that showed 2 functional cysts and what appeared to be a ruptured cyst, though I never felt any great discomfort from that (unless the uti symptoms were that). Maybe I had a uti and coincidentally my ovarian cysts started causing issues at the same time? Anyway, it's been a month and a half and I still feel vague pelvic discomfort, like below my pubic hair line. It sort of feels like burning sometimes and it comes and goes, doesn't affect my sleep.
Avatar f tn I had a laparoscopy done April 2010. For 2 cysts, 1 on each ovary. My left had a cyst of 5cm, the right, 7cm. My cysts have all been simple fluid filled cysts. The concern would be, youre not having regular periods, and with the cyst growing, you run risk of it twisting the ovary, or rupturing. Do you know if the cyst is in or out of the ovary? My cysts have all been IN the ovary.
Avatar n tn Does it happen every month? Every woman gets ovarian cysts. Most don't even know. Normally filled with liquid. They pop, and get obsorbed into the body. Some do feel the pain. But there are some that can be a real problem. I would go discuss it with my OB/GYN. Let us know what happens!
Avatar f tn No cramping, no bloating, no constipation, no mood swings, no flair ups of interstitial cystitis (chronic inflammation of the bladder), no weird skein gland cysts and no more ruptured ovarian cysts! However, I was having severe migraine headaches at least once per week which on average lasted between 48-72 hrs at a time, with significant symptoms and neurological after effects, like the inability to think of certain words or form full sentences.
Avatar f tn Give her time to heal from the surgery and give Loestrin time to work. When Loestrin is used continuously to stop your period that is how pain is stopped.
Avatar f tn Your ca-125 sounds normal to me. I think you got recurrent cysts due to laparoscopy (from what docs say). Some cysts do recur. I am supposed to go for an U/S after 4 more months for a cyst in my other ovary. I have no idea about the medicines you are taking. But I don't think you have to worry about a surgery soon. Cancer happens to anyone at any time. But ovarian cancer is very rare and if you are really worried call up your health care provider right away.
1200566 tn?1265381052 If it is a cyst, or cysts, you can try another dosage of birth control. I have been taking LoEstrin and it works well.
Avatar n tn t start experiencing painful intercourse until I started having Ovarian cysts, each month a woman has normal functional cysts, and these can sometimes get larger due to different types of birth control, what kind are you on? You can try switching pills and seeing if the pain becomes less. I have experienced tons of pain over the years, I'm 28 now, and it can also depend on where you are in your cycle.
Avatar f tn Hello. I am on my 3rd year of being on Loestrin 24 FE and in the first month or two I had the regular spotting and breakthrough bleeding. However, in the past couple of months I have experienced spotting and breakthrough bleeding all over again and that is not normal for me. What could be going on? I take my pill at the same time daily and there haven't been any changes of lifestyle.
Avatar f tn Can anyone help me please, I had one ovary removed 4 years ago due to cyst, I was told to go on the contraceptive pil since then as this would prevent any follicles from developing and therefore minimise the risk of any further cysts. I have always taken my pil correctly and have been for two scans in the last year and each time been told there's lots of follicles and at the most recent scan there was a 2cm follicle.
Avatar f tn Several months ago it was discovered that I had ovarian cysts and recently had a laparoscopy which revealed 3 cysts, adhesions, endometriosis, and a twisted fallopian tube. So that was all fixed. An upper endoscopy showed gastritis in my stomach and I cough up blood in my sleep, so I am now on medication for that. Sigh.....
256161 tn?1196879046 I know lyme causes all kinds of different cysts. I'm not sure about the ovarian cysts though as they are quite common in women in general. Flagyl is a cyst buster so if you have lyme you may feel the herx reaction.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much. I had an ultrasound the same visit he put me on Loestrin- no sign of cysts or fibroids. And I agree, hormonal BC is ridiculous! I'm amazed I have such awful reactions when other women seem to do fine.

Avatar f tn HI, Even though you may not want any more children, you are too young for a hysterectomy. The bleeding can be stopped with help of haemostatic medicines and with use of hormones like progestins. Also a D&C may sometimes be necessary to stop the bleeding. The ovarian cysts need further evaluation regarding their size and nature. Many of the cysts in young women respond to birth control pills or regress spontaneously. Hence it would be best to consult a gynaecologist for an evaluation.
Avatar f tn All, I feel pain once in a while and I went for a full pelvis scan and i was diagnosed with a cyst on the right ovary and fluid in POD. The doctor suggested to be on loestrin ( contraceptive ) for 3 months and then scan again. The doctor also mentioned its a common thing among many women. I have a son who is 1.5 years old and I have been having this pain since he was born for last 1 year or so.
Avatar n tn I think possibliy you mean ovarian cysts instead of ovarian fibriods as fibriods are assoicated with the Uterus and ovarian cysts are associated with the ovaries.
Avatar n tn Interestingly I also have liver cysts - called simple cysts. There may be no connection of course. But I have read somewhere that ovarian cysts can be connected to PPIs. I also have gastro polyps as a result of long term use of PPIs. To avoid the polyps you might want to consider getting off PPIs once you have the acid reflux under control - and then seriously change your diet to make sure you don't get reflux again (less animal fats, sugars, acid food etc.).
Avatar f tn I had 5 lg ovarian cysts that my dr. (OBGYN fertility) wanted to surgically remove from my uterus. I had a friend tell me about CASTER OIL as a remedy for naturally removing the cysts by using "cold pressed caster oil compresses". I tried this and it worked !!!- it actually removed all 5 of my cysts!! Now my doctor is upset with me. Saying it's not safe. Really and surgery is?? People have use caster oil since Before Christ. Why is this not safe?
Avatar n tn Ovarian cysts are extremely common - so do not worry. However, they can also be extremely painful and can grow extremely large. Each month, when a woman ovulates, small follicles form on the outer part of the ovary. These follicles look like little marbles almost through an ultrasound. Now, during your period - these follicles are, keyword here 'supposed' to break free with the lining of your period but for some women, they do not.
Avatar f tn Ovarian cysts are common and almost always benign especially if you do not have a family history of ovarian cancer. Unfortunately, far too many women lose an ovary or ovaries for benign ovarian cysts causing permanent health problems and reduced quality of life.
