Loestrin for menopause

Common Questions and Answers about Loestrin for menopause

loestrin

Avatar f tn The Loestrin helps me but if I miss a pill or am late I get a light period. Today I noticed more pelvic pain while I exercised. Made me think of how acupuncture has helped in the past. Can not afford visits. But if I am better about the Loestrin is helps. I buy nearly 4.5 months worth from a Canadian website for $75.

Avatar n tn I've been thinking about similar things. My doctor put me on the minipill, which doesn't seem to have the same risks for older patients. I'm not sure that I'll take it until menopause, but for now I feel good about it.
Avatar f tn hello! I am a 30 year old recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have been feeling like garbage recently and have not been able to find a doctor who can help. I recently went through my lab results from September and see my Estradiol is <5.00 pg/mL. I am also on Lo Loestrin. Can the birth control be causing the very low numbers, my PCOS, something else? The numbers are those of someone in menopause, so it is a bit concerning. Any insight is appreciated!
Avatar n tn I would spot for 3-4 days, have a regular period for a week or so, then dribble for 3-4 days afterward. So essentially, I was having a period for at least half (or more) of the month. Since I couldn't use birth control pills due to breast fibroids, the doctors couldn't control it that way. Then, when I was nearly into menopause, I saw a list of symptoms in the doctor's office that matched mine. They were for endometriosis.
1674462 tn?1304114750 Does anyone know if Loestrin 24 is effective for Endometriosis pain? I have constant pelvic and vaginal pain 24/7 and its HORRIBLE during my periods that I can't even get out of bed usually. My old gyno put me on YAZ continuously (with no sugar pills) for 4 months straight with no periods to see if the pain would calm down and id didn't and YAZ made me very swollen.
1676459 tn?1304370075 I started menses at age 16, had a normal cycle for 1 year, bleed almost non-stop (became anemic) for a year, had normal cycles for about a year after being put Loestrin bc pills then they stopped altogether. I am in good health now, have 20% body fat (which my health teacher said is good), excercise 4-6 days a week and have no family history of fertility problems. Was bulimic for 2 years, but have been at a healthy weight for a year now and still no period.
Avatar f tn I am waiting out a surgery to see if any hormone therapy will do the trick because I have to pay out of pocket. The doctor wants me to try loestrin 24 for 3 months. My question is, does anyone have experience with both? I hate to second guess my doctor, but I am wondering how a lower dose can do better for me than Yaz? Also, I have been extremely depressed since a month or two after starting Yaz, and I turned down anti-depressants in hopes that a new medication will help with that.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure in 1998 at 29 with an FSH of 165 and estrogen less than 10. I used loestrin as HRT for about 8 years and then started having much trouble tolerating it, I couldn't get through 1/2 a pack without extreme bloating, fatigue and breast pain.
Avatar m tn I have been on Loestrin for about 4 months now, true it is low in hormones but I am taking it continuously for Endometriosis so I haven't had any spotting at all. Loestrin itself means low in estrogen.
Avatar f tn BUT from March 20-30 I took antibiotics for a sinus infection. I was still on Loestrin but I stopped taking it March 29th because I hadn't had my period since January 5th and I was feeling pregnant. Anyway, I started bleeding April 1-4. I started my new pills Ortho on April 6th. Now I'm feeling VERY CRAMPY in my stomach. I've just read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill because it is low estrogen. I'm just wondering...
Avatar m tn Hi, i have been on lo loestrin fe for 1 month. Today i am taking second brown pill, which is also the last one...i feel menstrual pain for a few days, but no menstruation. I am worried! Is pregnancy possible if i had intercourse with my bf (while i was on the pill) but he had never ejaculated inside? It is written that lo loestrin fe is protecting you from the first day if u are starting on the first day of your period. Thats how i did. But why is my period not coming?
Avatar n tn I have been taking Loestrin (generic) for about a year. My doctor gave me the brand as a sample to save some money. I am in week three of the first pack. My period started yesterday. What can cause this early bleeding?
Avatar f tn I started Lo Loestrin Fe oral birth control pill on January 14, 2014 after being off of it since Thanksgiving of 2013. Previously I had constant break-though bleeding (more like a period- for even 2 and a half weeks) and cramps. I switched to Microgestin and that made me so sick I stopped, and then restarted Lo Loestrin Fe. I have taken it everyday and have never missed a pill.
Avatar f tn I have been on lo loestrin fe for the past 4 months. This past month I had breakthrough bleeding. I've been told that breakthrough bleeding means that I am not protected anymore, but does that mean that my pills were not working for the entire month prior to breakthrough or just the time after that? Could I have gotten pregnant before breakthrough even if I had taken pills regularly? Thanks so much!
Avatar n tn I also took lo loestrin for about a month and stopped right before the brown pills because I was also feeling depressed. The day after I stopped I got hives on my back, neck, and stomach around the time that I was supposed to take my brown pill. Not sure if it would happen that quickly but its a possibility.
Avatar n tn So like I said, this is aparently normal when on Loestrin. Im going to go on the generic of Loestrin, Junel Fe, which worked for me in the past and I think its 21 days of the pill and than 7 days of the "period" part. As much as I dread my period, it's a reassuring thing.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am on lo loestrin fe and i have been on it continuously for about two years and on the birth control I stopped getting my period. On Sunday I was sick and threw up for a while but it was later in the day at least 6 hours after i took my birth control pill. The next day I had vaginal spotting/bleeding and still took my dose at the normal time. It has been three days and I am still lightly spotting. Is there a problem or something I can do?
Avatar f tn Thanks! I'm really trying to get this breakthrough bleeding under control, as it is very annoying. I feel like I can't live a normal life...that is why I went on the pill. The loestrin was great for my period (just spotting), but I would spot from day 14 on! I will start FemCon when I finish this pack. Thanks for your thoughts!
Avatar f tn I have been taking Cryselle (thats the generic name - I think it may be the Lo Loestrin but check with you dr). I have been on it for a few years now and haven't had any problems with weight. I may get a zit here and there but NOTHING near a breakout by any means.
17501880 tn?1457282730 12pm on Saturday March 5th my boyfriend and I experienced a broken condom. I have been taking Lo Loestrin for about a month now and am on my second row on my second package. I have been researching since, that I should be able to take 2 Lo Loestrin pills and that they work as an emergency contraceptive. Can someone please confirm with me on whether or not I can.
Avatar f tn My breast have been sore for the past month. I recently just started a new birth control could that be why? I am currently on my period so I don't think it's pregnancy, is it?
Avatar n tn I've been on my bc (loestrin fe) for about 7 months now. I've never missed a pill but occasionally take it at a different time. Between 7:10 and 7:30. I know that that's alright but I go on and off with periods. Sometimes it starts with the white pills and sometimes the red and sometimes not at all. I also have bleeding during my second week for about 3 days. Is this normal? Could I be pregnant? Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn Hello, I've been on birth control since I was 15 (now 23) for ovarian cysts. About a year ago I switched pills from Loestrin 24 fe to Lo Loestrin 24 fe. Within the year I think I've had 2 periods (only lasting a day or so) and a few days of very light spotting. I do know this pill is the lowest dose of hormones you can have with a birth control pill. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I am now on Microgestin 1/20 Fe generic version of Loestrin. Anyway what does anyone know about this? Any major side effects I should be worried about...I was reading that it causes bigger breast, weight gain, and low sex drive...is that true for anyone else who has taken it?
