Common Questions and Answers about Loestrin emergency contraceptive

loestrin

Avatar m tn Hi, i have been on lo loestrin fe for 1 month. Today i am taking second brown pill, which is also the last one...i feel menstrual pain for a few days, but no menstruation. I am worried! Is pregnancy possible if i had intercourse with my bf (while i was on the pill) but he had never ejaculated inside? It is written that lo loestrin fe is protecting you from the first day if u are starting on the first day of your period. Thats how i did. But why is my period not coming?
Avatar m tn I discussed with my doctor and she advised me to tke Loestrin 24 Fe but I am not sure of taking this medication as I already have so many complication with my reproductive system. I am 29 and have Hypothyroidism.
2144876 tn?1341432818 Such women need to use an additional contraceptive method as topiramate taken along with along with Loestrin, may reduce its effectiveness and result in unwanted pregnancy. I hope you find this information useful. Do keep us posted. Good luck!
Avatar f tn stands for iron in Loestrin fe). With any hormonal contraceptive, you are going to have some side effects, so the way to go about choosing which to use, is to choose the one the is the best trade off for you (eg. the side effects for the contraceptive benefit). Finally, because you used the method before with no problems, SOME of your symptoms may be situational too--so consider some stress reduction! Good luck!
Avatar f tn Hi, I am on Loestrin 20 pill and 5 days ago I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. And 4 days later I forgot one pill and then the next night I was 5 hours late taking the next one, so I took the 2 together. But ive been hearing if you forget 2 pills your supposed to take them when you remember and the take another 2 the next day... but I am unsure if I am considered to have missed 2 pills cos I really only missed one cos the second one was just a few hours late??
Avatar f tn I read on another website that taking an increased dose (4 now and 4 in 12hrs) of certain contraceptive pills has the same effect. The problem is i cant even get the contraceptive pill without a prescription and i cant get a prescription if I'm not married! I am stressed out of my brain! I do have some yasmin tablets in my bathroom drawer. Please tell me if these are suitable to use for this method. It has already been 24hrs, so I need advice asap. Hopefully someone can help.
Avatar f tn I used emergency birth control pills Contraceptive HD (OVOCEPT - HD). I used 2 pills within 24 hours after sex and 12 hours later used 2 pills again. I wanted to know when I will become period? and in emergency way that is just this 2 times? I am really worried please answer me.
Avatar n tn If you've had unprotected sex and have taken an emergency contraceptive pill within 24 hours of unprotected sex, should you begin taking a birth control pill immediately? What if you haven't started taking the pill yet; should you still wait until you get your next period or will taking it asap help prevent a pregnancy? Thanks!
Avatar f tn We used no protection and we were both under the influenece. I took birth control pills as the replacement for emergency contraceptive. This is my second time using BCP since July of last year. I woke up with a sore throat yesterday and have gotten severe flu symptoms. I also wet my bed which is something very unusual. I recently had an episode of axiety and I don't know what could be wrong.
Avatar f tn I would also advise you that that chance of pregnancy is quite low since you are correct that LoEstrin is similar to other emergency contraception when taken the way that you did--in fact in the old days that's what we used to use. IF you have a normal period, I would feel comfortable with that, but a pregnancy test is never wrong and you should definitely do one if you don't have a period. Good luck!
Avatar f tn The chances are slim. You can try to take an emergency contraceptive, but they've been known to mess up cycles so you could get an earlier period, lighter one, skip, etc which could cause more stress. There is nothing you can do naturally (that I know of) to stop a pregnancy. Even emergency contraceptives won't work if you've already ovulated. They prevent ovulation, they don't terminate anything. Wait to see if your next period comes as it's supposed to.
Avatar f tn Ever since I've had my baby in 2011 I have been taking emergency contraceptive pill if I have sex on my ovulation days. Is it safe? What I mean is are there any side effect if taken the way I do? Thanks. Will really appreciate a response.
Avatar f tn Can anyone help me please, I had one ovary removed 4 years ago due to cyst, I was told to go on the contraceptive pil since then as this would prevent any follicles from developing and therefore minimise the risk of any further cysts. I have always taken my pil correctly and have been for two scans in the last year and each time been told there's lots of follicles and at the most recent scan there was a 2cm follicle.
Avatar f tn I took an emergency contraceptive pill last Friday and I wasn't suppose to get my period until the 5th or 6th of November. But I had sexual intercourse yesterday and my partner noticed some blood but we didn't mind it that much. This morning I woke up and I was bleeding. I'm not exactly sure but I think I got my period. The whole point is, can it be possible for the contraceptive pill to cause a woman's period to come a week or two sooner?
Avatar n tn My gf had not been on birth control for a year or more. She began taking Lo Loestrin Fe on Oct. 20, the first day of her period. The side effects (increased acne, severe anxiety and depression, emotional lability) were so severe for her that she decided to stop before the pack was done. I believe she took roughly 2 weeks and a few days of the pack (maybe 3 weeks total), then quit them because she was so miserable.
Avatar m tn Plan B pill
Avatar f tn Then I had unprotected sex on 11th November with another guy.I took an emergency contraceptive pill immediately.I experienced light vaginal bleeding after 5 days. Then I had unprotected sex on 21st November with yet another guy.Immediately I administered an emergency contraceptive pill.Again I experienced light vaginal bleeding after 5 days.Again I had unprotected vaginal and anal on 3rd December. But this time I administered the emergency contraceptive pill after a few hours.
Avatar f tn Hi guys sorry I am new here, So my wife is a virgin and we had non penetrative sex and some sperm was left on her vagina and we got worried that she could get pregnant then she took emergency contraceptive (levonorgestrel) 48 hours after. Then after 2 days we did non penetrative sex again and we got worried about pregnancy and she took emergency contraception again. This is emergency contraceptive twice in a week.
674922 tn?1226141919 If you took emergency contraceptive within one hour of having unprotected sex, it is highly unlikely that you are pregnant. The pill has likely messed with your period b/c of the hormones in it. If you still do not get your period in a couple weeks, take a preg test but i really do doubt that you are pregnant. If you are going to keep having sex, I suggest going on some type of birth control.
Avatar f tn Why did you take 2 emergency contraceptive pills? That has probably messed with your period.
Avatar f tn Emergency Contraception In cases of unprotected sex, women can take emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy. Emergency contraception is not a substitute for regular contraceptive methods and it is not the same as the abortion pill. In 2009, the FDA made several changes to the emergency contraceptive pill Plan B: The original Plan B, which is taken as two levonogesterol pills, is now also available in a generic form called Next Choice.
