Loestrin emergency contraception

Common Questions and Answers about Loestrin emergency contraception

loestrin

Avatar f tn I would also advise you that that chance of pregnancy is quite low since you are correct that LoEstrin is similar to other emergency contraception when taken the way that you did--in fact in the old days that's what we used to use. IF you have a normal period, I would feel comfortable with that, but a pregnancy test is never wrong and you should definitely do one if you don't have a period. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Hi! If your girlfriend was my patient, I would recommend a repeat pregnancy test in one week UNLESS she has her normal period. I would then test weekly for up to 4-6 weeks. If she has not resumed her periods by then and isn't pregnant, she should check with her doctor. If she is pregnant, she should also check with her doctor, of course. It is possible that the pills delayed her ovulation and that is the reason for the delayed period.
Avatar f tn Hello, I've been on birth control since I was 15 (now 23) for ovarian cysts. About a year ago I switched pills from Loestrin 24 fe to Lo Loestrin 24 fe. Within the year I think I've had 2 periods (only lasting a day or so) and a few days of very light spotting. I do know this pill is the lowest dose of hormones you can have with a birth control pill. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn No. This will not work. You are outside the 72 window in which emergency contraception will work. Now you must wait to see if your period comes. If it is late, then take a test. If that is positive, you then can discuss termination either by the traditional procedure or by pills that a doctor prescribes. Or you may not be pregnant. But emergency contraception must be taken within 72 hours of intercourse.
Avatar n tn in the morning, i took emergency contraception (prostinor 2) last night, while having sex wiv him, the condom broke and he came in me...Do i need to take prostinor again or is the one i took yesterday ok?
2144876 tn?1341432818 Efficacy of oral contraception may be decreased by concomitant use with topiramate. This combination results in increased metabolism of the estrogenic component of the oral contraceptive. The people taking this combination need to be informed that it can result in decrease in efficacy of the birth control pill. Such women need to use an additional contraceptive method as topiramate taken along with along with Loestrin, may reduce its effectiveness and result in unwanted pregnancy.
Avatar m tn My gf missed her first period on her second month on Loestrin. We freaked out cause we thought she was pregnant. Took a pregnancy test twice a week after she had missed her perdiod. This month she is late again and now worried again, thought haven't been intimate this last month.
Avatar m tn hi! i'm on lo loestrin fe and on the second week of my birth control pack. I have a sinus infection and started taking azythromycin (zpack) today. Will the zpack affect the effectiveness of my birth control? Do you think i'll be okay if I have unprotected sex but use the pull-out method?
Avatar m tn I think Plan B posts that there is a 1 in 8 chance of it not working. It's not meant to be used as birth control, it's meant to be used as emergency contraception. When you say "condoms aren't on the table," do you mean this has already happened and you had no condoms? If this hasn't happened yet, condoms are more reliable than Plan B, and a lot more healthy for you.
Avatar m tn You're using regular birth control pills in a higher dose to replace an emergency contraception? Honestly that doesn't sound safe at all! Vomiting for 9 hours is a big red flag and I think you should see a dr, especially if you're still doing this. Definitely don't take any more pills because they could seriously harm your body.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am on Loestrin 20 pill and 5 days ago I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend. And 4 days later I forgot one pill and then the next night I was 5 hours late taking the next one, so I took the 2 together. But ive been hearing if you forget 2 pills your supposed to take them when you remember and the take another 2 the next day... but I am unsure if I am considered to have missed 2 pills cos I really only missed one cos the second one was just a few hours late??
Avatar f tn anyways, we went to cvs and bought Next Choice one pill emergency contraception an hour after sex. She used the EC around 8:45pm the same night, march 11. She told me that she was 2 weeks late on her Depo shot, which is why I recommended the EC an hour or little after sex. She also said she is usually on a 28 day cycle, rarely early, and always on time. So, what are the chances of her getting pregnant in the future? I have been worrying all day.
Avatar f tn You gave her plan B or emergency contraception? I pill, right? Well, if it was taken within 72 hours, she should be good. Lunch doesn't matter so much as getting it in before the 72 hour window is over. buy some condoms! Emergency contraception messes up a woman's period.
Avatar m tn Though my bleeding is not the kind of bleeding I usually get from my period. Is it also because of the emergency contraception?
Avatar n tn on a safer side i took emergency contraception...now after 5 days i am bleeding which is darker(brownish)in colour but it is going on since yesterday...m confused on everythng ...
Avatar f tn I used nordette BCP for emergency contraception. I took 12:30 this afternoon. I was supposed to take 4 pills but mistakenly took only 2 pills. What should i do? Should i retake the full doses again or should i just take 4 pills 12 hrs later?
Avatar m tn I suffer from extreme migraines and take Imitrex, Zomig and meloxicam as an antinflammatory. I was prescribed Loestrin but suffered with more frequest migraines. My LH/FSH ratio is about 2.4 and I have borderline low estogen and slightly increased testosterone. What do you think I should do about the Fe and regulating my hormones to normal. On loestrin I had bleeding every other day and now that I am not on it i havent had menstruation since August almost 6 months ago.
Avatar f tn Not at all. Emergency contraception is just a higher dose found in birth control pills.
Avatar f tn sometimes contraceptive pills can cause bleeding. they say so right in the side effects as well as sometimes emergency contraception can change the length of a monthly menstrual cycle, making the next period come as much as a week earlier or a week later than usual. if her period was late than you should worry but any bleeding heavier than spotting is a sure sign that she is not pregnant.
