I cut out 99% of the sugar and salt in my diet and am eating only fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen no-additives fruits and vegetables, lean beef, pork, chicken, cold water fish, walnuts, almonds, dried fruits, raw honey, fresh herbs, and occasionally, I have whole grain brown rice. I do not eat any gluten, dairy, legumes, or nightshade fruits and vegetables (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers). I allow myself one or two treats a week like a small amount of dark chocolate or dill pickles.

s from detox, pneumonia, and a stroke. with the stroke, which is considered small and deep in my cerebellum, my vision and balance was effected. My balance was already damage from the benzo's and alcohol abuse. Lately some of you might have read my last thread that I haven't been feeling well. Actually I haven't felt well for a very long time. I did see my PCP yesterday and we all agreed that the trazodone was the one med that was making me very sluggish.

On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??

Exhausted with the fever and now back of the head aches and sinus stuffy nose and headache every day. Tests have come back negative.for lot of maladies. Slightly anemic. ON lepitor and atenolol for cholesterol and palpitation not BP.

This is a question to those of you with CFS. I have been having aches in my ankles and legs, hard to describe but an all over aching and I have to move them around to make it feel better. My cardio doc thought it might be the Lipitor and it did get better off the Lipitor but hasn't gone away. I do notice it during the day but more at night when I am lying in bed. I just wonder if this is a symptom of CFS? Do others have it?

At the time, I attributed it to my Lipitor, called my cardiologist and I went off of it. Right after that, I went into the hospital for surgery (hysterectomy and a hernia operation) and came home to recover. At first, I didn't notice it, so I thought stopping the Lipitor is what helped. It got so bad that I could not sleep at night. Although, it is more of an aching pain, than a sharp pain. I do take Tylenol for it but it doesn't help much.

I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290. I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.

There is much controversy about cholesterol, but it is muted because of pharmaceutical financial interests in statins. Half of those who die of strokes or heart attacks have no history of high cholesterol. DeBakey discounted cholesterol. My own doctor pays no attention to it. What is the true role of cholesterol and how should one proceed? I don't know, but I won't take Lipitor.

The Lipitor package insert recommends that a test of your liver function should be done prior to and at 12 weeks following both the start of therapy with Lipitor and any increase of dose, and periodically (for example, every six months) thereafter. If there are any changes in your liver function, drinking alcohol may make it worse.

People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.

If hypothyrodism can cause high cholesterol is it not better to take thyorid hormone replacement than Lipitor?

No stent. 2006 no restenosis. 2008 Did CT scan radioactive dye and also no restenosis. Age: 56--> Regimen: Lipitor 5 mg, baby aspirin, fish oil (about 3-4 grams).

I stopped the lipitor 3 days ago and the pain in my legs has stopped and feet are some better. I go to the dr. soon so I will tell her. I have stopped the lipitor before for a few days and gotten back to normal.

had coiling embolisation done with stent due to an unruptured aneurysm on the right ICA. returned to hospital afterwards due to TIA symptoms and was given Lipitor as cholesterol level was borderline and given just to make sure that it is not causing the "mini-stroke". I was wondering if anyone here has experienced hair loss from taking a statin. My husband was placed on Lipitor about 5 months ago and has noticed that he's losing more than a normal amount of hair. His hairline isn't receding; it's thinning from all over.

Hi all, My father had a triple by pass surgery about 18 months ago, and has been taking Lipitor, Perondopril and Atenolol. He's been getting abnormal hair growth on one side of his leg and back and chest since he's been on Lipitor, and Perondopril. Has he talked to a doctor about his symptoms, and has blood been drawn to determine if there are adverse reactions with the Lipitor? I'm 67 also, had a heart attack nine years ago, but have a lot of stents in between, so your husband and I have lots in common! I also recently experienced increase fatigue, some unintended weight loss and I'm short of breath, and a stress test last week indicated new blockages, I'll see the doc next week to see what's next for me.

Like you, I pulled myself off of Lipitor (atorvastatin) because of muscle and joint weakness/pain and other recorded side effect. I had only taken it for about five weeks and the discomfort remains three weeks later. I had the same reaction to simvastatin, which I am told is the worst of the bunch. I'm waiting a few months and then I will try something with a less violent track record.
