I also have 20-30% blockage in other artery which doctor stated with strong lipitor and diet change it should help this. I am on Lipitor 80 mg. also effient, aspirin, and coreg, which was just changed from atenolol which I had been so tired and drained my doctor switched it. I also take lisinopril, and pepcid and iron because being on blood thinners at my age it caused other issues. I have had several issues with vasalvega sincope since my heart attack I just pass out..
I cut out 99% of the sugar and salt in my diet and am eating only fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen no-additives fruits and vegetables, lean beef, pork, chicken, cold water fish, walnuts, almonds, dried fruits, raw honey, fresh herbs, and occasionally, I have whole grain brown rice. I do not eat any gluten, dairy, legumes, or nightshade fruits and vegetables (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant, peppers). I allow myself one or two treats a week like a small amount of dark chocolate or dill pickles.
We both - husband and wife, have been experiencing these symptoms. We have been on simvastatin for (wife for 1+ years, me for 2+ years) and stopped about 5-6 months ago - wife still having pains in the butt some dizziness and leg pain, but getting better - I am having butt pain and leg pains, swollen left knee, (but joint pain seems OK on stairs), recovery seems slower than my wife's.
I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290.

There is much controversy about cholesterol, but it is muted because of pharmaceutical financial interests in statins. Half of those who die of strokes or heart attacks have no history of high cholesterol. DeBakey discounted cholesterol. My own doctor pays no attention to it. What is the true role of cholesterol and how should one proceed? I don't know, but I won't take Lipitor.
The Lipitor package insert recommends that a test of your liver function should be done prior to and at 12 weeks following both the start of therapy with Lipitor and any increase of dose, and periodically (for example, every six months) thereafter. If there are any changes in your liver function, drinking alcohol may make it worse.
People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.
If hypothyrodism can cause high cholesterol is it not better to take thyorid hormone replacement than Lipitor?
My CK test results showed an elevation which she said indicated muscle damage and asked me to stop the Lipitor immediately and return in 2 months for another cholestrol and blood test. It is two weeks since I stopped the Lipitor but I am still feeling an imbalance sometimes and I still cannot walk anywhere near the 5kilometers I was walking earlier. Is this muscle weakness and feelings of imbalance likely to reverse themselves after a few more weeks.
83, i went on a diet and did another test on the 09th April results came as Total 263.70, Trig 178.90, HDL 40.98 and LDL 197.20, my doctor gave me lipitor 40 mg, took for 25 days with a very serious diet and did another test 110.98 total cholesterol 99.20 TRIG, HDL 37.80 and LDL 66.90
i am a smoker less than a pack a day, however, there is no heart disease in the family and my blood pressure is always 120/70 or slightly lower.
I know that Lipotor can artiificially lower TSH and cause a false positive for hyperthyroidism.

2002 Angioplasty for 70 percent blockage using catheritization (arm, Dr. Saito in Japan). No stent.
2006 no restenosis. 2008 Did CT scan radioactive dye and also no restenosis.
Age: 56--> Regimen: Lipitor 5 mg, baby aspirin, fish oil (about 3-4 grams).
had coiling embolisation done with stent due to an unruptured aneurysm on the right ICA. returned to hospital afterwards due to TIA symptoms and was given Lipitor as cholesterol level was borderline and given just to make sure that it is not causing the "mini-stroke". I have been given Plavix and aspirin from the onset and I am still on it.
This is again April 2016 I have been having fever again like clock work in march April this time worse than ever. Severe feverishness and fatigue. Not taking lipitor for. Ore than two years. Blood test actually shows inflammation with two nodules in lungs but doctors not saying or doing anything about it fibroid in uterus.
I been dealing with ringing ears for about 3 months now. That's one of the symptoms I hate the worse next to the depression and fatigue. I'm on the levothyroxin still trying to get to my target. Sometimes I wonder if it's the right nedicine.
I know what you mean about the cost of medicine. Funny how too similar medicines can have such a cost difference. Just because they still have the patent, they are allowed to rape the public of their money. Wonderful health care system we have.
They work well for me and the combination lowers the dose level of the BB which also reduces fatigue side effects. On that issue, I am 74 and as said have permanent AFib, so how much of my fatigue comes from what is not clear to me. I was a runner up to age 67, so I may have pretty good oxygen delivery in spite of the AFib. My EF is 60% or better - oh, you didn't ask about that.
When younger I was told many thing that I fully understood well too late.
