Hi. Sequential therapy with Sorafenib and Sunitinib has been studied by Dham, et al (2007) [web link: http://www.asco.org/ASCO/Abstracts+&+Virtual+Meeting/Abstracts?&vmview=abst_detail_view&confID=47&abstractID=31160]. In this trial, 23 patients were given sorafenib followed by sunitinib, and 14 patients received sunitinib followed by sorafenib. Patients switched to a different drug either because of unacceptable toxicity or disease progression with the original drug.
yesterday we noticed a patch of hair gone so took him to the vet had all the blood work done and this morning we received a call saying Tye was in renal failure and may only have a few months to live.we brought him into the vet to get SUB Q fluids and this is needed for the next few days he will get a special diet and have to take a water pill and antiacid as well as another medication i cant remember what it is called let alone what it is use for.
and was rescued from the streets in houston. she has renal failure and has really bad teeth. The problem is two different vets.said it would be too risky to put her to sleep to pull or work on her teeth. Her breath is really bad and I know she is in pain. My poor little girl needs some help. Does anyone have a suggestions?
Renal failure may be either chronic or acute. Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) is a progressive, irreversible deterioration of kidney function. Because cats hide their illnesses and the very early signs of CRF are subtle, this disease may only be recognized when the patient reaches the 70% deterioration level and more dramatic symptoms are observable. The seemingly sudden onset may appear to be an acute condition but is most often a crisis point of CRF.
My cat, Miss Kitty has just died from renal failure. We did not notice any symptoms except weight loss and as she was about 14,, we attributed this to being older. She was still active and eating, until one Friday night when she collapsed. We took her to an excellent vet who gave her aggressive treatment over a period of weeks, including IV fluids, saline,blood supplements, phosphorus blocker, CCRF supplements, KD cat food, and we also gave her Astro Oil.
thank you all for your comments my cat is very good now just eat hills kd and royal canin renal he has got really renal failure i did several times blood tests and troid tests .etc ..but he is fine playing and eating.even now very fine .i give carlson omega 3 consantrated evryday and other day vetriscience vitamin for renal ...
I have 2 twin jack Russell terriers. today I was told one of them has renal failure. vet wanted to eutho him then and there. was totally unprepared. I brought him back home cause I can't afford the costs for an attempt to save him, which I know there is zero salvation. my question is this. I bought these twin brothers from a breeder at 12 weeks. they have never been apart since their birth. always butt and butt when they sleep. 11 yrs old.

Renal impairment, including cases of acute renal failure and Fanconi syndrome (renal tubular injury with severe hypophosphatemia), has been reported with the use of VIREAD [See Adverse Reactions (6.2)].
It is recommended that creatinine clearance be calculated in all patients prior to initiating therapy and as clinically appropriate during therapy with VIREAD.

Renal anomalies could be responsible for decreased or deranged renal function and may lead to renal failure. One working kidney is enough for normal functions of the body. It would be difficult to comment if your other symptoms could be related. I would suggest discussing the situation and the suggested management plan in detail with your treating nephrologist.

Our 7 year old yellow lab Rocco was recently diagnosed in the last stage of renal failure just a couple weeks ago. I brought him to our regular vet with symptoms of loss of appetite, bad breath & nausea. The vet did a brief exam & said his exam was unremarkable & didn’t feel like a blood work was necessary. Said he looks like a healthy dog. A week later I called the vet back & said I wanted blood work done. On a Friday they performed blood work & urinalysis.
I am 32 years old and have been a Type I diabetic for 17 years. I have been in really tight control for the last 6 years or more with hemaglobin A1c's ranging from 5.8 to 6.5. I have recently been spilling microalbumin in my urine. At my last three endocrinologist appointments my microalbumin levels have been 70, 50, and 53, respectively. Four months ago my endocrinologist put me on lisinopril 5mg for kidney protection.
The throwing up became very bad so I took him to a different vet that after a urine test was able to establish Teddy was in 75% kidney failure. Some Medication was given but he has become increasing worse. Vet suggested an IV Solutuion but after researching it on the internet decided my little guy's quality of life and his always wanting to please is not fair to him. To prolong the inevitable for something that may not work is not fair to him or me.
