Common Questions and Answers about Lidoderm use

lidoderm

Avatar n tn Can a prescribed Lidoderm/ Lidocaine Patch 5% give u a pain pill buzz? Ive watched some of my friends go thru bad DTs and eat patches that were suppose to only be applied. I get Lidoderm Patches and have been keeping it a secret just incase. I don't wanna get robbed cuz they really help with my pain. I need to know if one of them ever find my patch and eat it or use it... will they get any kind of buzz from it?
Avatar f tn Does anyone have experience with Lidoderm Pain Patches? I use three per 12 hour period along with oxycodone, tramadol, neurontin and flexeril for pain. All the talk about Fentanyl has me concerned. BTW I am so thankful for this forum, whether or not one posts one can gain so much valuable information without fear of judgement. Kudos to sandee for keeping it going and thanx to everyone for straight up honesty in your replies to questions.
Avatar f tn ve been taking Lyrica for about a month, trying to taper off hydrocodone (after 7 months of steady use), and wondering why I have not seen these lidoderm patches mentioned by anyone in any of the back pain boards I've looked at. Looking for input on this. Thanks.
563571 tn?1232491190 Do any or many of you use Lidoderm patches for pain? I used them some before getting Trimadol and still think about using them along with the Trimadol, but have some concerns. For several days I used them on hip, leg and knee (by instructions for number of patches and length of time) and did get some relief; however, my calf is swollen and very, very numb to the touch, but also burning badly.
1182304 tn?1349305951 I do use the lidoderm patches and they help me. I do not use them all the time but I do when I have a bad pain day.
Avatar f tn t heard anyone say they tried Lidoderm patches-they work well for any part of your body you are in pain, and you can cut the patches into smaller ones if you want. They are only made up of lidocaine (numbing) for surface pain, muscle pain, any pain. You wear up to 3 for no more that 12hrs and then take a 12hr break. Only one bad thing is they don't stick well, I have to use heavy duty med tape, but they are worth it. Plus, they are 235.
Avatar n tn Hi, I fell last year and broke my coxis. Eventually it fixed itself. Now it has moved and I am in a lot of pain. My doctor gave me Fentanyl patches and they are not doing much. I use Lidoderm patches for arhtitis pain. I don't know whether I can use both together and weather I can take some pain meds at the same time? I am going abroad in 10 days and there is no way I can cancel this trp... Please, help! Thanks.
934553 tn?1275274379 Hi, a lot of people benefit from the Lidoderm patches. I hope it helps. I completely understand about life consisting only of work and sleep. That doesn't make much of a life. That exquisite sensitivity to light touch is called allodynia. Often a firm touch is tolerable, but the light brushing of clothes or a light touch from another person is unbearable. Seems backward, but it is common. Another addition that can help the Cymbalta is a low-dose of amiltrityline at night.
Avatar n tn 3) Lidoderm patches are patches with topical lidocaine, which works as a pain reliever. Lidoderm can work for low back pain among other things. Lidoderm, unlike Flector patches and Voltaren gel, is not a topical anti-inflammatory but rather a numbing medicine applied to the skin. 4) An over the counter option, though not as well studied, is Aspercreme cream, which is a topical salicylate (aspirin) pain reliever. It works by reducing swelling and inflammation in the muscle and joints.
Avatar f tn I use creams but they are prescribed. I also use a lidoderm patch. I find both to be helpful. I first tried the joint-ritis years ago. I didn't know it had been discontinued. I didn't get much, if any, relief from it. A nurse friend gave me a sample of Voltaren gel and it worked great. I asked my surgeon about it and they gave me some samples and a prescription. (It' expensive, around $200 a tube. Now I use a compounded cream prescribed by my PM nurse practitioner.
Avatar n tn Noven Pharmaceuticals wants to come out with one as well, but their being tied up by Endo and a bunch of FDA nonsense. This is a more recent article about Watson: http://www.empr.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Lidoderm Patches (Rx Only or doctor sample) work better for me and 5% Lidocaine Cream (you can find online) is awesome! Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn It helps a whole lot, although nothing ever takes the pain completely away. I also use Lidoderm Patches. I use 3 a night one on my lower back and one behind both knees. I hope the Ultram ER works for you. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I cant take hydrocodone as I will quickly abuse it and use up all the pills they give me. I also fear Tramadol for any period of time as I hear the withdrawals are horrific. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn They can get pricey so I watch for xoupons and sales or get them at Costco. I also use Lidoderm patches, which are a prescription. Voltaren gel is another prescription and I alternate that with the lidoderm parches. My doctor also wrote a prescription for a compounding cream. I getit for the RSD but use it for the arthritis as well. Mine has Fentanyl, Baclofan, gabapentin and a few other drugs. I am sensitive to a lot of medications so this is a good alternative.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else ever has lower back pain with their MS symptoms. Sometimes it is accompanied with a fogginess.......lidoderm patches help sometimes.
Avatar f tn just returned from dr. I got more lidoderm patches. Told him I wanted no more vicodin. He said with the stomach problems, there really isn't anything else to take for pain but tylenol. He said that many people are in the same boat...don't want surgery, don't want narcotics...he also said there is also the anti-depressant route, and the one he suggested makes you gain weight...no thanks! I'd be more depressed! So...on with the lidoderm patches....
Avatar n tn m not sure what else you could use. Have you tried the Lidoderm patches? Unfortunately, many physicians are still hesitate to prescribe pain medications that will work due to fear of addiction. We do have some alternative methods you could try (they are in our Health Pages). You could discuss this with your doctor to see if this is a possibility for you. I do hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn so still seeking alternatives. Someone mentioned lidocaine/lidoderm patches. Any experience/ advice or other suggestions for these or other alternatives???? Other info: The muscle relaxers probably help, but I don't like to take them. They make me too sleepy and I know they can be addictive (though I seriously don't like them). I've been using a heating pad every night for a week and it hasn't helped. Salon-Pas patches help....some. The anti-inflamatory pill helps...some....
728965 tn?1266373645 The Lidoderm patches are a great idea Breeze. I used them after the TKR and I use them now. They sure help ease my knees and back when I'm having a flare.
Avatar f tn Is the pain constant or does it come and go? Have you ever tried lidoderm patches and compounded pain cream? Its non narcotic what im talking about. Is your pain isolated or everywhere? Did the juicing help at all? Did your weather change for the worst? So sorry to hear your having a bad day. I know your so strong. I know your hurting. Im sending you a big huge gentle hug.
600086 tn?1238418989 I have pulled a muscle in my back and now all I can do is lay around. I have been clean 7 days tomorrow. The urge to use--anything--is strong. I know I am stronger. My husband was laid off and the stress of that and raising three young kids seems to be too overwhelming yet I know that I am of no help when I am not "me". I thank all of you for letting me get my feelings out in the open. They are killing me keeping them inside....
Avatar f tn I LOVE the ThermaCare patches and the lidoderm patches. I also have a compounding gel that brings a little relief (they had given me Voltaren gel before and it was good but not as good as this.) Only trouble I have with the lidoderm patches is that in this heat, they can slip off. I'll have to try the paper tape on that as well. (My BF has the lidoderm patches, too, but he works outside and he can't get them to stay on for anything.
Avatar m tn s I had from a prior prescription and the two combined did help the pain, but from my long term use of these lidoderm patches, I feel they aren't worth the cost if that is the only thing for pain you are prescribed, for by themselves, they don't seem to help anything but surface pain. I have heard they help sunburn pain, but I haven't had that problem to try them for that purpose. I have not heard of a transdermal patch that contains any muscle relaxant either.
