Common Questions and Answers about What is lidoderm used for

lidoderm

Avatar f tn I know Lidoderm is a Non-Narcotic Medication used as a local anesthetic. It numbs the area of the pain. It's usually used for things like shingles. I wouldn't think of it as dangerous, I think it's pretty safe. I do know dentists use it for dental procedures as well, pulling teeth and such!
563571 tn?1232491190 Do any or many of you use Lidoderm patches for pain? I used them some before getting Trimadol and still think about using them along with the Trimadol, but have some concerns. For several days I used them on hip, leg and knee (by instructions for number of patches and length of time) and did get some relief; however, my calf is swollen and very, very numb to the touch, but also burning badly.
Avatar n tn Hi, I fell last year and broke my coxis. Eventually it fixed itself. Now it has moved and I am in a lot of pain. My doctor gave me Fentanyl patches and they are not doing much. I use Lidoderm patches for arhtitis pain. I don't know whether I can use both together and weather I can take some pain meds at the same time? I am going abroad in 10 days and there is no way I can cancel this trp... Please, help! Thanks.
Avatar n tn Worst it will probably do is make their mouth numb. It is the same thing as the stuff you rub on baby's gums when they are teething....
1415174 tn?1453243103 I've used Flector patch. Minimally to no help at all for my low back pain.
Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
934553 tn?1275274379 I try really hard to put on a happy face for every one telling them none of this really matters. what is is and it does not really change anything. But darn it it does change things. My body wont do what I tell it to.. It wont pee when I tell it to. It wont walk when I tell it too. It itches in places I cant reach and then it hurts to scratch it. It wants to sleep when I need to be awake. I cant feel my feet in the mornings it feels like I am walking on someone elses feet.
1182304 tn?1349305951 How cute!! And how nice for all of you. I am glad you all are on MedHelp. I hate to tell you that I thought you were all the same person. Sharp aren't I? I have tried the lidoderm patch and have had no pain releif with it what so ever. Everyone is different and I am so glad that it takes the edge off.
Avatar f tn t heard anyone say they tried Lidoderm patches-they work well for any part of your body you are in pain, and you can cut the patches into smaller ones if you want. They are only made up of lidocaine (numbing) for surface pain, muscle pain, any pain. You wear up to 3 for no more that 12hrs and then take a 12hr break. Only one bad thing is they don't stick well, I have to use heavy duty med tape, but they are worth it. Plus, they are 235.
Avatar f tn Surgery is always a last resort. Be leery if it is offered as a first option. Indeed if surgery is suggested I'd get a second opinion. Can you tell us more? Location? Other SX? How long have you had these SX? What is your medical provider telling you? I hope something I've offered has been of help. I'll look forward to hearing more from you.
Avatar m tn I was just wondering what you y'all do for the legitimate pain after detoxing off opiates. I have spinal stenosis and a couple of degenerative disk. I know the pain is magnified right now, but I'm not getting enough relief in between. This is what caused me to relapse the last time. I'm taking the maximum daily dose of Advil a day with hot showers and a heating pad. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.
Avatar f tn this is known as off labeling...where a drug is intended for one purpose but used for another....in this case insomnia......
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there using lidoderm patches for back and/or neck pain? My neurosurgeon just prescribed them for me--they're a topical anesthetic patch. I tried one, it seemed to help briefly. I've been taking Lyrica for about a month, trying to taper off hydrocodone (after 7 months of steady use), and wondering why I have not seen these lidoderm patches mentioned by anyone in any of the back pain boards I've looked at. Looking for input on this. Thanks.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used a pain patch for their TMJ pain? have some Lidoderm patches, which contain 5% Lidocaine, which I have for my fibaro and spine problems. I just got back from Reno, Nv, which was an 1143 mile round trip. The trip down was fine, but the trip back today was in rain, hail, wind and snow. Needless to say now in more pain than ever. I had a massage while there, concentrated on the head, neck and shoulders. Masseuse commented I had a major major amt of tight muscles and knots.

Avatar f tn I've given up on using the creams for my arthitis. I used to use joint-ritis, but it's been discontinued now, also it was a roll on and not cream.
Avatar f tn I've used them and I didn't feel like they did anything for pain what so ever....so wish they would have worked but no relief at all from it.
Avatar f tn for all of you wondering. im doing good. day three is a big turn around for me. i underestimated my pain levels going into this scope. maybe because i was clean or the fear of the pills something made this scope hurt more than any other I've went thru. and I've been thru alot. another thing is my pain pills really don't work. or for that long. so i gave up on those things. at first i thought i had bad ones.
Avatar n tn As long as it's not an Nsaid, and more like IcyHot or something, then yes it's completely safe. I also use something called a "lidoderm" patch which has lidocaine in it but doesn't really go into your bloodstream. it's used for arthritis and localized pain and helps my back sometimes when my pain level isn't too high.
Avatar m tn I have used it is the past as a muscle relaxant and found it fairly effect. However it was not as effective as cyclobenzaprine (Flexeril) for muscle spasms. Frequent warm baths go hand and hand with these drugs, at least in my humble opinion. I hope this information is helpful. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.
