Avatar n tn Hello there is a lidocaine patch called Lidoderm, it was made for people who have shingles pain. It is very helpful and in fact since being introduced people are using for back pain, tennis elbow, etc. It numbs the nerve pain. A doctor invented for his wife who suffered from shingles.
563571 tn?1232491190 Do any or many of you use Lidoderm patches for pain? I used them some before getting Trimadol and still think about using them along with the Trimadol, but have some concerns. For several days I used them on hip, leg and knee (by instructions for number of patches and length of time) and did get some relief; however, my calf is swollen and very, very numb to the touch, but also burning badly.
Avatar n tn There is a product called a Lidoderm patch which can be very helpful for shingles and nerve pain. It is prescription. I had shingles recently, and found that ONE acupuncture treatment help enormously. The shingles cleared in 3 days. I was astonished.
Avatar m tn Also if it is in a small area or two, Lidoderm patch was made to help with shingles pain.
Avatar f tn t know if your doctor would approve but there is a patch called a Lidoderm patch that was created by a doctor for his wife who was suffering from shingles. It is not a narcotic, just a lidocaine patch. It works really well for pain in a specific area, they can even be cut and placed on various spots. I have one on my shoulder right now and it is helping with the pain.
Avatar n tn Can a prescribed Lidoderm/ Lidocaine Patch 5% give u a pain pill buzz? Ive watched some of my friends go thru bad DTs and eat patches that were suppose to only be applied. I get Lidoderm Patches and have been keeping it a secret just incase. I don't wanna get robbed cuz they really help with my pain. I need to know if one of them ever find my patch and eat it or use it... will they get any kind of buzz from it?
922972 tn?1243985128 Thus my quest for a diagnosis. And I will continue my quest...I owe it to myself. Although, I think shingles is the right track for now. Thank you again for your response, Dr. Junig! One of the most important things I've found along this journey is that the greatest gift of all is to be believed. Thank you for believing me.
Avatar f tn I have searched the internet endlessly for causes for and help (if there is any) for this condition but to no avail. I have seen info about long thoracic nerve injury and serratus muscle injury. There has also been literature to suggest the long thoracic nerve (if that is the cause) originates in the cervical spine area? I have also come across info suggesting that a nerve could be compressed but MRI's are normal.
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there using lidoderm patches for back and/or neck pain? My neurosurgeon just prescribed them for me--they're a topical anesthetic patch. I tried one, it seemed to help briefly. I've been taking Lyrica for about a month, trying to taper off hydrocodone (after 7 months of steady use), and wondering why I have not seen these lidoderm patches mentioned by anyone in any of the back pain boards I've looked at. Looking for input on this. Thanks.
Avatar f tn t heard anyone say they tried Lidoderm patches-they work well for any part of your body you are in pain, and you can cut the patches into smaller ones if you want. They are only made up of lidocaine (numbing) for surface pain, muscle pain, any pain. You wear up to 3 for no more that 12hrs and then take a 12hr break. Only one bad thing is they don't stick well, I have to use heavy duty med tape, but they are worth it. Plus, they are 235.
1182304 tn?1349305951 I guess some insurances per my doc are kinda against it for anything other then for shingle pain, but my insurance did approve it for my chronic back pain.
Avatar n tn Hi, I fell last year and broke my coxis. Eventually it fixed itself. Now it has moved and I am in a lot of pain. My doctor gave me Fentanyl patches and they are not doing much. I use Lidoderm patches for arhtitis pain. I don't know whether I can use both together and weather I can take some pain meds at the same time? I am going abroad in 10 days and there is no way I can cancel this trp... Please, help! Thanks.
Avatar f tn They were first made for people suffering from shingles but my doctor and I figured out several years ago that they work for a lot of pain issues. I love the gel...
Avatar m tn Nearly fainted while I was at the gym which then turned into constant lightheadedness for now its 5th month. I had a shingles approximately a week after the episode. Our cases seem similar so I was hoping you had some input and suggestions to help. Did the B1 supplements help at all too? Cheers.
649909 tn?1224500998 She has continued to see her family physician for this and has been prescribed lyrica 3 times a day for several months now and takes darvocet for the pain 3 times a day as well. Prior to her heart attack she was very active, appeared very healthy for her age (65) and was never short of breath. This pain has kept her from ever feeling good or I should say even close to good since her surgery. Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts?
Avatar n tn t know about burning the nerves however I do know of a lidocain patch called Lidoderm which numbs the nerves. It was created for people with shingles, it is a numbing agent and does not give any side effects. You could try that while you decide what to do. Unfortunately some times when we have surgery, the surgery may work but then we end up with new pains.

Avatar f tn I have seen corneal melts with automimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis and also after shingles. A rheumatologist may need to be consulted to look for other possible causes..An ophthalmologist that is a corneal specialist should be able to guide her with her workup and treatment.

Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot confirm anything without examination but it can be contact dermatitis or shingles. Shingles occurs in people who have had chickenpox and represents a reactivation of the dormant varicella-zoster virus. The first sign is usually a tingling feeling, itchiness, or stabbing pain on the skin. After a few days, a rash appears as a band or patch of raised dots on the side of the trunk or face.
Avatar f tn Hi doctor I've had shingles for about 13 years now & I'm only 18. For years I've been wanting to get rid of the ugly scars that are on my forehead but every doctor was like a dead end. I really want to pursue removing the scars! What should I do?
