563571 tn?1232491190 Do any or many of you use Lidoderm patches for pain? I used them some before getting Trimadol and still think about using them along with the Trimadol, but have some concerns. For several days I used them on hip, leg and knee (by instructions for number of patches and length of time) and did get some relief; however, my calf is swollen and very, very numb to the touch, but also burning badly.
Avatar f tn Dr Mathur, I have tried Ice, heat so much I've burned my skin, massage, acupuncture. Nothing really helps massage/ acupuncture sessions which only last for a few days. It's pretty expensive to have to go a couple times a week. Heat helps but both legs (the entire length) hurt along with my back. I haven't been able to take Lyrica which was really the only thing that adequately controlled the pain for quite some time now. Pain meds do not help my nerve pain, never have.
Avatar n tn Hello there is a lidocaine patch called Lidoderm, it was made for people who have shingles pain. It is very helpful and in fact since being introduced people are using for back pain, tennis elbow, etc. It numbs the nerve pain. A doctor invented for his wife who suffered from shingles.
Avatar n tn 3) Lidoderm patches are patches with topical lidocaine, which works as a pain reliever. Lidoderm can work for low back pain among other things. Lidoderm, unlike Flector patches and Voltaren gel, is not a topical anti-inflammatory but rather a numbing medicine applied to the skin. 4) An over the counter option, though not as well studied, is Aspercreme cream, which is a topical salicylate (aspirin) pain reliever. It works by reducing swelling and inflammation in the muscle and joints.
Avatar m tn and amazingly by putting the lidoderm patches around the back and front of my knee I had absolutely no pain at all. My doctor was a little shocked that I had even thought of it but it did work and I didn't suffer the week or so of pain from having the knee surgery I had. No pain pills no nothing just the patches. Hope something here helps.
Avatar m tn Hi. I will be having knee surgery again and I was wondering if anyone knows of something I can request from my doctor that wont get me hooked. I cant take hydrocodone as I will quickly abuse it and use up all the pills they give me. I also fear Tramadol for any period of time as I hear the withdrawals are horrific. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Now I am using Lidoderm patches.... (3) a day for pain control. I cut them and place them on my sore areas ( ribs, T 6-7, left knee, lower back and lately left elbow) of my body and can leave on for 12 hrs. I am really getting fustrated with the pain but I have to keep moble with PT and the WII fit. thanks for any input on this problem ...
Avatar n tn Can a prescribed Lidoderm/ Lidocaine Patch 5% give u a pain pill buzz? Ive watched some of my friends go thru bad DTs and eat patches that were suppose to only be applied. I get Lidoderm Patches and have been keeping it a secret just incase. I don't wanna get robbed cuz they really help with my pain. I need to know if one of them ever find my patch and eat it or use it... will they get any kind of buzz from it?
Avatar f tn m going back to my doc soon with leg tingles, and other bits and knee pain which is ongoing.i did at first think it was fibro. Today out of no were i got this tight pain on my right side under my breast and pain went round my back on my ribs. I have had a inflamed chest bone in the past, i cant spell it cosh- something. But this pain today was strange and scary? ive not been diagnosed with anything yet, so i'm just seeing what people think of this pain?
Avatar f tn I now have numbness, tingling and frequent pain in both legs. I have seen a neurologist and am now in a pain clinic and am scheduled for a spinal cord stimulator. What are your thoughts for how this may alleviate my situation.
Avatar f tn Is anyone out there using lidoderm patches for back and/or neck pain? My neurosurgeon just prescribed them for me--they're a topical anesthetic patch. I tried one, it seemed to help briefly. I've been taking Lyrica for about a month, trying to taper off hydrocodone (after 7 months of steady use), and wondering why I have not seen these lidoderm patches mentioned by anyone in any of the back pain boards I've looked at. Looking for input on this. Thanks.
1182304 tn?1349305951 I guess some insurances per my doc are kinda against it for anything other then for shingle pain, but my insurance did approve it for my chronic back pain.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have experience with Lidoderm Pain Patches? I use three per 12 hour period along with oxycodone, tramadol, neurontin and flexeril for pain. All the talk about Fentanyl has me concerned. BTW I am so thankful for this forum, whether or not one posts one can gain so much valuable information without fear of judgement. Kudos to sandee for keeping it going and thanx to everyone for straight up honesty in your replies to questions.
Avatar f tn They are only made up of lidocaine (numbing) for surface pain, muscle pain, any pain. You wear up to 3 for no more that 12hrs and then take a 12hr break. Only one bad thing is they don't stick well, I have to use heavy duty med tape, but they are worth it. Plus, they are 235.00 w/ no Ins-I do what I can to make them last because even w/ ins it is still $60.00 for 30 patches, I don't waste them. So, has anyone tried these?, what did you think about them?
Avatar n tn Hi, I fell last year and broke my coxis. Eventually it fixed itself. Now it has moved and I am in a lot of pain. My doctor gave me Fentanyl patches and they are not doing much. I use Lidoderm patches for arhtitis pain. I don't know whether I can use both together and weather I can take some pain meds at the same time? I am going abroad in 10 days and there is no way I can cancel this trp... Please, help! Thanks.
Avatar f tn but found its conctipating for me, Curamin for pain. Some help me sleep, some help to cal me some, for pain, all is temporary, and I mean like works for 2 hrs and back to no sleep or excrutiating pain. I use a hydrollac wet pad, ( like the chiropractor uses on me) when my pain is intolerable, Lidocain Patches, aspercreme, Same-E, VtiC's, Primrose, Juicing, Noni Juice, Fish Olil, and my husband massages me from time to time. BUT I am depressed cause this is all my life is right now.
Avatar f tn I've used Flector patch. Minimally to no help at all for my low back pain.
Avatar n tn When the TKR was performed 12 weeks ago a catheter was placed through my left groin into knee for post operative pain management. The catheter pierced femoral blood vessels and I developed a left hip/thigh hematoma which was originally thought to be the cause of this pain. I also suffered a post operative staph infection. Can any of these post operative complications have resulted in this disabling hip/groin pain? What is the best method of appropriate diagnosis and course of treatment?
Avatar f tn i wish they would have ivd the tordal like in hospital. and last time i had a pain pump stuck in knee for first 4 days. i want that lidoderm pump...i don't know why he didn't do that this time. what if i put a lidoderm patch on the backside of my knee? would it numb it down? im scared to try. but getting desperate. again its just lidoderm.
Avatar m tn I wouldn't count on being reinstated. Pain management docs are very strict and usually adhere to their contract terms pretty much to the letter. This may end up being a blessing in disguise for you, as it is for a lot of people. For one, you were abusing your script...that never goes anywhere good. You didn't handle that the proper way by talking to the doctor about the medication not being as effective, you took matters into your own hands. That's a slippery slope.
Avatar n tn When in doubt, ask your doctor!
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used a pain patch for their TMJ pain? have some Lidoderm patches, which contain 5% Lidocaine, which I have for my fibaro and spine problems. I just got back from Reno, Nv, which was an 1143 mile round trip. The trip down was fine, but the trip back today was in rain, hail, wind and snow. Needless to say now in more pain than ever. I had a massage while there, concentrated on the head, neck and shoulders. Masseuse commented I had a major major amt of tight muscles and knots.
Avatar f tn I have a question for you all. Obviously I went to see the pain dr. on Tuesday. I've been having some very bad right shoulder pain, like front shoulder pain. Now I have radiculpathy (I don't know if that's spelled correctly) and normally have shoulder pain in my back, but Im having it in the front of my shoulder towards my chest, instead of my back. The vicodin is not controlling this pain on my shoulder.
Avatar n tn I have NF1 with several fibromas under my ribs which have become more painful over the last few years some days a 9-10 on the pain scale. I had a neurologist that prescribed Lidoderm patches topical 12 hours on 12 off that were effective. I have new health insurance that won't cover the patches. I went to a new pain management doc that prescribed a cream that works quite well.
