Lidoderm for neck pain

Common Questions and Answers about Lidoderm for neck pain

lidoderm

Avatar f tn Is anyone out there using lidoderm patches for back and/or neck pain? My neurosurgeon just prescribed them for me--they're a topical anesthetic patch. I tried one, it seemed to help briefly. I've been taking Lyrica for about a month, trying to taper off hydrocodone (after 7 months of steady use), and wondering why I have not seen these lidoderm patches mentioned by anyone in any of the back pain boards I've looked at. Looking for input on this. Thanks.
Avatar n tn 3) Lidoderm patches are patches with topical lidocaine, which works as a pain reliever. Lidoderm can work for low back pain among other things. Lidoderm, unlike Flector patches and Voltaren gel, is not a topical anti-inflammatory but rather a numbing medicine applied to the skin. 4) An over the counter option, though not as well studied, is Aspercreme cream, which is a topical salicylate (aspirin) pain reliever. It works by reducing swelling and inflammation in the muscle and joints.
1232362 tn?1333135406 over the past 2 weeks, but especially past 24 hrs I've had increasing neck pain that I also feel on the outside of my right arm. I now have pain doing things like lifting light items like a quart of milk or opening the venetian blinds, turning my head to the right is painful. The pain is not like a typical stiff neck, but like I'm being sliced open with no anesthesia. I do have a herniated disc at c6 which I had a cervical epidural for almost a year ago. Could this be acting up again?
Avatar n tn Can a prescribed Lidoderm/ Lidocaine Patch 5% give u a pain pill buzz? Ive watched some of my friends go thru bad DTs and eat patches that were suppose to only be applied. I get Lidoderm Patches and have been keeping it a secret just incase. I don't wanna get robbed cuz they really help with my pain. I need to know if one of them ever find my patch and eat it or use it... will they get any kind of buzz from it?
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used a pain patch for their TMJ pain? have some Lidoderm patches, which contain 5% Lidocaine, which I have for my fibaro and spine problems. I just got back from Reno, Nv, which was an 1143 mile round trip. The trip down was fine, but the trip back today was in rain, hail, wind and snow. Needless to say now in more pain than ever. I had a massage while there, concentrated on the head, neck and shoulders. Masseuse commented I had a major major amt of tight muscles and knots.
Avatar f tn Ok, maybe I shouldn't say anything. I don't know if any of you have noticed I haven't been on the board for a few days or not. I feel bad about saying anything now that Sherry feels so bad. I've been dealing with the same pain for the last week, I can't turn my neck, when I drive I have to turn my whole body, and I'm having trouble sleeping, because it's hurting my back the weird way I'm having to sleep to make my neck comfortable.
Avatar f tn I've been looking for alternatives to narcotics for pain - specifically in one localized area the dr. has called a "trigger spot" in my shoulder. It becomes a big knotted up muscle under my shoulder blade and gets worse when I'm stressed. I've also been told I have tinitus in that shoulder. ANYWAY, I'm currently tapering on suboxone and really need to find alternatives for this pain.
Avatar m tn A van side swipped her mini-van and cause some severe neck damage. This damage cause constant pain in her neck, migrains, and some numbness. The treatment they prescribed was getting cold injections to the nerves in neck and head. She received three treatments over the past year with some short term relief of pain but always come back. Beside this treatment she been doing a routine of physiotherapy, deep tisse massage, water therapy with some relief but not enough.
1182304 tn?1349305951 I guess some insurances per my doc are kinda against it for anything other then for shingle pain, but my insurance did approve it for my chronic back pain.
563571 tn?1232491190 Do any or many of you use Lidoderm patches for pain? I used them some before getting Trimadol and still think about using them along with the Trimadol, but have some concerns. For several days I used them on hip, leg and knee (by instructions for number of patches and length of time) and did get some relief; however, my calf is swollen and very, very numb to the touch, but also burning badly.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have experience with Lidoderm Pain Patches? I use three per 12 hour period along with oxycodone, tramadol, neurontin and flexeril for pain. All the talk about Fentanyl has me concerned. BTW I am so thankful for this forum, whether or not one posts one can gain so much valuable information without fear of judgement. Kudos to sandee for keeping it going and thanx to everyone for straight up honesty in your replies to questions.
Avatar f tn They are only made up of lidocaine (numbing) for surface pain, muscle pain, any pain. You wear up to 3 for no more that 12hrs and then take a 12hr break. Only one bad thing is they don't stick well, I have to use heavy duty med tape, but they are worth it. Plus, they are 235.00 w/ no Ins-I do what I can to make them last because even w/ ins it is still $60.00 for 30 patches, I don't waste them. So, has anyone tried these?, what did you think about them?
Avatar f tn Today I went to my PCP for an xray of my neck thinking my pain in my shoulders and down my hands was disk related. She is convinced it is the MS. She did put these analgesic patches all over my back. My muscles were so tight even with the baclofen the patches made them really hurt like when I get massages. My muscles are so tense massages or acupuncture just hurt when my muscles start to let go. I am also taking 800 mg of Ibuprofen. She wants me to do isometric exercises which I do do.
Avatar f tn I have a question for you all. Obviously I went to see the pain dr. on Tuesday. I've been having some very bad right shoulder pain, like front shoulder pain. Now I have radiculpathy (I don't know if that's spelled correctly) and normally have shoulder pain in my back, but Im having it in the front of my shoulder towards my chest, instead of my back. The vicodin is not controlling this pain on my shoulder.
Avatar n tn Hi, I fell last year and broke my coxis. Eventually it fixed itself. Now it has moved and I am in a lot of pain. My doctor gave me Fentanyl patches and they are not doing much. I use Lidoderm patches for arhtitis pain. I don't know whether I can use both together and weather I can take some pain meds at the same time? I am going abroad in 10 days and there is no way I can cancel this trp... Please, help! Thanks.
Avatar f tn I've used Flector patch. Minimally to no help at all for my low back pain.
Avatar f tn Dr Mathur, I have tried Ice, heat so much I've burned my skin, massage, acupuncture. Nothing really helps massage/ acupuncture sessions which only last for a few days. It's pretty expensive to have to go a couple times a week. Heat helps but both legs (the entire length) hurt along with my back. I haven't been able to take Lyrica which was really the only thing that adequately controlled the pain for quite some time now. Pain meds do not help my nerve pain, never have.
Avatar f tn anyone here I have been on Oxycontin 20mgs 2 times daily plus neurontin 900mgs 3 times daily, for chronic pain due to 3 failure operations on my neck spine, herniated discs you name it I have it including the knees and legs but recently placed on durgestics tran c 75mg patch also oralmorph for breakthrough pain reading this ladyies story and your comments it seems you all have been a great help to her. Could you advise me has my doctor done the right thing for me.
Avatar f tn I have been having a lot of pain in my neck for which I went to physical therapy for. It helped some but the pain comes back priodically. My C6 & C7 are showing signs of being degeneratve. I have been having discomfort in all of my joints but the most pain is in my right elbow. At times I cannot even extend it to is full length without pain shooting up and down my arm. I have also been told I have onset of carpel tunnel.
1324871 tn?1288981706 They numb the skin and are great for the neck. My neck is pinching pain right now. I just put a Lidoderm on. It already feels better. They may do you some good. At least used as directed, they won't hurt you.
Avatar m tn ve being evaluated by Internist, Neurologist, Chiro, Phisiatrist and recently a pain management doctor, although I dont have major pain; it is more like neck and back spasms. Being on more than 10 medications: Celebrex, Neurontin, Baclofen, Skelaxin, Relafen, Flexeril, to mention some. Things thar really work for me are Baclofen and Lidoderm patches, although some days I still have the spasms. A Cervical MRI showed: Straightening is noted suggesting spasm. Correlate clinically.
Avatar f tn but found its conctipating for me, Curamin for pain. Some help me sleep, some help to cal me some, for pain, all is temporary, and I mean like works for 2 hrs and back to no sleep or excrutiating pain. I use a hydrollac wet pad, ( like the chiropractor uses on me) when my pain is intolerable, Lidocain Patches, aspercreme, Same-E, VtiC's, Primrose, Juicing, Noni Juice, Fish Olil, and my husband massages me from time to time. BUT I am depressed cause this is all my life is right now.
Avatar n tn When in doubt, ask your doctor!
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hi Sandy! My doctor also prescribed me the Lidocaine patch for my hip and lower back. (didn't have neck or upper back pain at that time) They only worked for about a day and they also wouldn't stick to my body but I just found out last week that I tore a ligament in my hip so that my be why they didn't work. I hope your dr.can find the right med that helps with your pain!
Avatar n tn s and thinks the reason for the pain, spasming and numbness is due to muscles. I agree with that for the pain but not the numbness which extends all through the back of my scalp. He gave me lidoderm patches which do nothing as I get better results from icy hot. As far as the numbness goes I'm at a loss. Noone can seem to tell me why I get this. Is anyone else out there going through the same thing or perhaps can point me in the right direction?
