Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine nasal

lidoderm

Avatar n tn Started with sinus infection, when that was over started with tingling throbbing pain across my nose, tooth, nostril, eye on one side. When I lie down its much worse and my nose gets stuffy. I have been treated with various nasal steroids and allergy meds. I have tried narcotics, prednisone, 4 different antibiotics, had surgery for deviated septum, occipital nerve blocks, amitriptylene, gabapentin, imitrex, topamax, cymbalta, I could go on.
Avatar n tn After each surgery, I noticed worsening burning nasal pain and dental pain that would come and go with changes in temperature or humidity. The ENTs I saw assured me I would feel better but I never did. After seeing an endodontist for the dental pain I narrowed it down to nerve pain, some variation of Charlin's Sydrome or nasal neuralgia. I have seen 32 doctors in 6 states and have gotten no relief.
Avatar f tn I don't think the cream is lidocaine, although they usually do mix some lidocaine in with the serum after they draw it out of the patient's vial. You should talk to his dr about the cream. I know that patients at my allergist's office that use it (some are adults) wear plastic wrap on their arm for the 30 before the shot. I am sure that your dr will know about it.
Avatar f tn Also use ice packs. Also I take (only works when the severe headache just starts,) a nasal liquid of Lidocaine 2% and Vis. Sol Hi. When all of this fails and I'm just vomiting and very dehydrated, then I have to go to the ER and get Benedryl, Reglan and Morphine which helps bring the migraine down a couple points and I'm usually laid up for at least a week afterwards from the migraines continuing, but as bad as before the ER.
Avatar f tn Thank you. I did ask the ENT but he said that he's not an ophthalmologist so couldn't really speak to the eye problem! I read that nasal lidocaine can help with cluster migraines, so I wonder if a similar mechanism is at play here. Any advice about how to proceed? Thank you!
Avatar f tn I ask because i am having lots of pain in my nose from perforated septum and I have a staph infection. I have used everything one can think of to ease/numb the pain and I'm not having any luck! I have taken Vicodin, oxycodone, dilaudid, I use saline solutions to rinse my nose several times a day (which makes it hurt worse), I've used lidocaine, oragel, bactine..... You catch my drift.
Avatar n tn cocaine destroys your nasal passages , hard to swallow because of the numbness . Other drugs such as lidocaine numb you and make it hard to swallow.. But Cocaine is the devil ..Stay away .. I truley believe that my experience with cocaine over 10 yrs ago led to me my current phentermine addiction .I was beautiful , no weight problems til after cocaine ..
Avatar m tn my co-worker gave me a new 10ml bottle of lidocaine, he uses it to give himself stitches. advice as to where to put the needle (i got from cvs insulin 31g-8mm),what to expect ie: will it burn- how long b4 its numb, and if i split the nail will it grow back? any advice will help..
1571533 tn?1322943509 Hey. I went to my PCP yesterday and he gave me a LIDODERM, a lidocaine patch, to try and help with the pain in my neck -he thinks if that calms down so will the migraines.. theyve been everyday constantly for well over a month and a half, and no meds help.. nor do therapeutic methods i have here at home.. Has anyone here used it before? And did it help? I tried to use it last night but it wouldnt stick to my neck.
Avatar n tn t help talk to your doctor about a daily medication for cluster headaches - get something better than the Lidocaine nasal spray if it is not working to fully stop the headaches. one suggestion is oxygen as it is one of the best acute treatments for cluster headaches and can be used often and long-term... whereas lidocaine cannot be used often if it is being used long-term.
Avatar n tn Re: Lidocaine Enemas. I am warning everyone to be careful. My brother just died 3/31/12 from a lidocaine enema. He was only 28. (Lidocaine Intoxication) Lidocaine in liquid form. I don't want anyone elses loved ones to die like this. I hope everyone will be careful when dealing w/lidocaine. it is a dangerous substance when not used properly.
383138 tn?1314167773 wants to do a lidocaine IV infusion, he says IV infusion of lidocaine is different than the dental injection. My cardiologist says I can't have lidocaine at all, due to my past severe heart reaction to it, but my pain dr. thinks it will be OK and has scheduled me for infusion for pain relief for this Friday. I dont know what to do, so any info on the lidocaine and any contraidictions with heart arrhythmias would be helpful. Thankyou.
Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar m tn In a simple dental procedure, I had what I can only describe as a seizure after getting what was supposed to be lidocaine and epinephrine injection. The area never got numb, and the pain from the point of the needle each time they attempted to inject me was painful. I was taken to the ER and released after 8 hours with no explanation. I read that lidocaine can cause a seizure. I have had injections many times with no problem. What could have gone wrong?
306455 tn?1288862071 lotsatrout...good idea...you ought to get a patent....lidocaine suit...i like that!!! ...My educated guess says it is not addictive!!!...and we know where my educated guesses have gotten me before!!!
Avatar f tn I have a hole in the cartilage of my nose the size of an pencil eraser and it hurts like hell everyday! I have tried all nasal gels, all otc medications for pain, I even sprayed bactine up my nose last night hoping it would numb the pain. It did for a few mins then started hurting again. I can't sleep, I have a sore throat constantly I think because of too much air that goes to my throat when I breathe through my nose. This is the worst pain ever.
Avatar n tn It gets so frustrating. One thing my neurologist gives me that helps once in a while is a lidocaine nasal spray. I don't know if it would work in your situation, but I hope so.
Avatar f tn It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Avatar f tn Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Benzocaine is mostly made up of lidocaine -a numbing agent in no way related to cocaine. You are more likely to test positive for THC (pot) from using motrin.
673999 tn?1226935279 The new standard inoffice bladder instillation for IC is Lidocaine instillation with bicarbonate solution. The lidocaine is a local anesthetic and the bicarbonate allows the lidocaine to penetrate the bladder wall to get to the bladder nerves. Lidocaine without the bicarbonate solution has only minimal bladder wall penetration and very short duration of action (minutes to an hour).
Avatar f tn seeing a dr would be ur best bet cos i am guessing snorting isa chrnic problem for u or u would not be worrying Hopefully u have not done any permanent damage but snorting eats away at the nasal mucosa//cauing tracts to form oropenings due to the drug eating away the membranes and when u snort it goes into places it is not sposed to go//altho drugs were never meant to be in ur nose anyway An ENT is who u need to see///stopping cos of pain only is not a really good reason//altho if u have done p
Avatar n tn t throw up the medication. Before discovering maxalt, she tried lidocaine infusions. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that they can drip into your nasal passages and it goes up into the brain and effectively numbs the migraine. It is a temporary fix when instant relief is needed. But perhaps a lidocaine infusion with some take home prescription migraine medication will work wonders for you.
Avatar m tn I have read previous posts, but am wondering what medications would cause a false negative 4th gen test. Medication that I am concerned about is lidocaine viscous. My Doctor has told me several times that it would not and that I am conclusive non-reactive. But just checking.
Avatar n tn I suffer from a chronic external nose irritation: idiopathic paresthesia?(my) Doc says it's sensitive nerve endings. They tingle/throb constantly at the tip(nasal dorsal nerve?) The area below my lower lip is similarly affected. No neuralgia, ie pain. Swiping yields but temporary relief. It always creeps back. I've tried a plethora of topicals to no avail: OTCs(all) , returns to East Coast manufacturers, and compounded medicine.
14051 tn?1238251732 I have had 2 sympathetic blocks in the past, but no real relief. My surgeon gave me Lidocaine injections, on 2 different occasions, in my back, where the rod was on the right side to see if I had infection or the rods were the issue. The Lidocaine was a godsend!!!!
