Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
It probably isn't the lidocaine, it's the epinephrine that is in the lidocaine. You can ask your dentist to use an anesthetic without epinephrine, I have had tons of dental work and always ask for that. Dentist doesn't mind at all and I've never had any problems. It doesn't last as long but if you start to feel anything while they are working the dentist will just give you more. I have done fine with it.
Yesterday I took Norco and I put a lidocaine patch and I woke up with weird heart sensation, like slow heart rate or something. Could it be caused by lidocaine patch? I also take the following medication:
Atorvastatin Calcium 80 Mg- 1 tab in the evening
Carvedilol 6.25 Mg- 2 tabs morning and 1 in evening
Spironolactone 25 Mg- half a tab morning
Aspirin 81 mg- 1 in the morning
I anyone with heart disease and backache can help with their knowledge, it would be greatly appreciated.
i don't know what the diagnosis is for your heart problems, but i do have a remedy for heart health that is supposed to be highly preventitive for any clogged arteries by removing it.
You mix onion juice, garlic juice, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar together. 1 cup of each, in a pot and boil it for like 20 to 30 minutes until about 3 cups of fluid remains. Then, wait until it cools and mix it in a jar with 3 cups of honey.
In case you have not found anyone yet, maybe you could contact doctors that you have worked with in the UK in the past and ask them for a referral. Or look up the website of the hospital where you were treated for your heart condition (or other hospitals) and see if the hospital has a pain management department. Good luck.
Had an experience with lidocaine yesterday at the dentist office. I had a deep cavity filled and was given novocaine, lidocaine with epinephrine. After that, my heart was racing, hands were shaking and had to sit up . Immediately told the dentist and dental assistant, they gave me a few minutes waiting for the medicine to numb the area an to wait out the shaky feeling I had. After a few minutes, they did the dental procedure that went well.
There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
There is no need to be anxious over having oral surgery with local anesthetic. It is your friend...remember that. Heck, I'd pull a tooth on a patient with no anesthesia if he or she could take it. I won't feel a thing. The anesthesia is available for the comfort of the patient. As far as the use of "caine" anesthetics, you are painting with too broad a brush.
Some people ice the area (personally I think the cold hurts worse than the teeny needle poke)...Others have been able to get a 2% lidocaine gel from their pharmacist (usually used for premature ejaculation issues) and apply that to the area, but most just do it cold turkey... Have you started your shots yet? If so, and you are worried about the needle, it is a very teeny and short little thing and, when you finally get brave enough to "just do it", you barely feel it.
Are you still having the palpitations or have they stopped? Can I ask where the shot was given? If you had the lidocaine in the summer and are still experiencing that I would definitely make sure there aren;t any undiagnosed heart anomalies. I'm doing that myself just to rule it out. I really don't like this feeling. Most doctors tell me that the lidocaine/epi should be out of my system but then why was my entire head numb for three days after?
They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain.
Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
I make sure I have
a driver and take pain meds before I leave the house. The the doc using a lidocaine gel for the stretching, afterward I keep an insta ice pack with me and apply ice immediately under my clothes. I have some small ones. I also find taking AZO before hand and for the first day or so afterward helps.
Truthfully, I have done it with no pain meds and with something to relax me etc.
Has anyone ever been prescribed this for genital outbreaks or PHN? My doctor did for PHN. I just tried it for the first time it hurt to apply and doesn't feel the most pleasant now. Has anyone ever used this and what was your experience?
I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with.
I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
Contraindications for the use of lidocaine include hypotension and bradycardia. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can cause hypotension; hypothyroidism can cause bradycardia.
Epinephrine is relatively contraindicated in hyperthyroidism as the vascular effects of epinephrine can worsen this condition. A hyperthyroid patient may be more sensitive to the catecholamines and thyrotoxic or cardiotoxic symptoms can occur.
t give time for the lidocaine to set in before he began the procedure. After the 3rd biopsy I told him we were going to have to stop the test because of the pain. At that point he told the nurse to give more lidocaine. After the 2nd shot it became bearable but he was still very rough in his technique
Besides the bruising and soreness, I experienced ear pain yesterday and today my throat and esophagus feel strange. My gums feel as though I have flossed them vigorously in that they feel swollen.
t find any scientific articles that specifically deal with positive test results of cocaine from the use of lidocaine (anesthetic) but it is mentioned a few times.
