Lidocaine for head injury

Common Questions and Answers about Lidocaine for head injury

lidoderm

Avatar f tn There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
Avatar f tn I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with. I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
14051 tn?1238251732 proposed celiac plexus nerve block using X-ray and lidocaine only for pancreatic cancer pain and to reduce pain killer dependence.. I see alcohol or phenol most often mentioned for this. Anyone know if lidocaine only successful?
Avatar n tn Most doctors tell me that the lidocaine/epi should be out of my system but then why was my entire head numb for three days after? I actually felt the medicine inside my head and circulating through my body. My tongue is still numb so nerve injury? guess I'll be going to the ENT soon after these other doctors. Wish I could bill my dentist for all this mess.
397118 tn?1219762250 If Ibeprphen doesn't help ask your doctor to prescribe Lidocaine patches. They are not addictive and can really help. I've used them for sever knee pain and sciatic pain. They are expensive but last a long time. You can cut the patches up in 3 sections or 4. You only leave them on for 12 hours at a time. And don't get in the shower with them or they blow up like a babies dirty diaper. Anyway, i highly reccommend the Lidocaine patch.
Avatar f tn I did a lot of dishes today and went overboard. I fell asleep for a few hours and the pain is quite bad. I am on lidocaine for a cyst on my knee ( a small bump with a bundle of nerves) I wanted it removed, but was told it might open a new can of worms. I mean lidocaine patch. I was on fentanyl patches, ha no way for me. I fell asleep standing up. Not kidding. Hope to hear back. Your plate sure is full!!!!!

Avatar f tn She occasionally follows moving objects with her eyes and some times offers hand with difficulty when a hand is offered to her. For few days she is awake for longer period of time and responds slightly better like following moving objects more or moving her hands more easily. However, she had not obeyed any voice command or has emotinoally reacted to things happening around her. She is stable and has a tracheostomy. She is in which state , is it MCS or a vegetative stare?
Avatar f tn It is highly likely that the reason you are feeling dizzy is related to hitting your head and is likely to be concussion. This can persist for some time and can take a few weeks to settle. Take things slow and easy and rest. You are doing the right thing in seeing your doctor to discuss your concerns.
Avatar m tn Usually, such symptoms may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain or spinal abnormalities after that injury. Treatment commonly may be suggested for symptoms such as pain-killers, some antidepressants, physical therapy and regular exercises.
Avatar m tn I suffered a head injury, caused by an auto accident, when I was 28. I was in a coma for six days, rehab for six weeks, and physical therapy for two years to learn to walk again. Please don't be in a rush for your brother's recovery. Each head injury is different. Each person will recover in his or her own way and time. What is most important for you as a loved one is to be patient, and to be there for your brother.
Avatar n tn As a TBI survivor, I can tell you that headaches are a normal part of brain injury. For me, my headaches range from pin-point headaches to tension headaches. But the frequency and severity does change too. Your son may have headaches for several years and they may settle down. There is always that chance. For me, it's been 5 years and I've had periods where my headaches have been horrible and frequent, followed by times where I won't get them as often.
Avatar m tn I have pain in both rhomboids and massive build up of scar tissue on both sides. When it gets really bad, you can see a bulge on both sides if I aggravate it. Ironically, the only thing that helps is ice and grinding the muscles against hard objects which provides relief, but aggravates the muscle and causes, you guessed it, more scar tissue. I tried all the muscle relaxants. I'm about to go pick up a $200 prescription for lidocaine patches.
Avatar n tn He cannot concentrate whatsoever, and when he saw a neurologist the neurologist asked him if he could remember some words and he could not a few minutes later. My husband already has a TBI from being in Iraq, and now this. What warning or emergency signs should I watch for. Is this all normal after a head injury? He was in bed for 5 days after the attack sleeping mostly.
Avatar m tn If your mom is the only one who carries a card for your insurance, then you may tell this to whomever asks you for your card, and they will decide if you need payment arrangements or if they should bill you at your home or call your mom or whatever.
Avatar m tn Hello,U should be seen. The funny thing about concussions are that the symptoms may show weeks after the initial injury. (I'm learning the Hard way my daughter had fluid in her bump & had to be treated.it was there for weeks.)Or just do it for piece of mind & to be safe.Good luck!
1980327 tn?1326248976 I had a head injury Dec 23 and now I get dizzy every time I turn at night while laying down, is this a normal sign of concussion.
5394463 tn?1367323852 Sometimes it takes time to be referred to a specialist (Neurologist), but in the meantime, tests can be done. Your father could have a head injury and needs further evaluation by a medical professional. Let us know how things go.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thank you for your question. After head injury or impact such kind of symptoms like headache & vomiting may be common, but may remain symptomatic or progress in future. I would recommend that he should consult immediately with a doctor for assessment. Please arrange an appointment with a neurologist who will evaluate the further prognosis here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Whit a head injury is always smart to see a doctor. Hope it is nothing, but I would stop at the local hospital emergency. Better to be safe.
Avatar n tn Hello, I feel that your grandson needs to be evaluated for a head injury as soon as possible.Mostly hematomas formed after a head injury soon in case of children, but as your grandson is having signs of concussion or a raised intracranial pressure(most probably due to a subdural hematoma)it needs to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon immediately. An x-ray or CT head is advisable. Pls don’t listen to your daughter as your grandson needs immediate evaluation. Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn You should head to an ER for a film and evaluation. Do not pass go. Do not collect two hundred dollars. There are two issues: (1) the reason for the dizziness and fall and (2) whether or not there is damage to the cervical vertebra. Often a bump on the head will cause the brain to swell and there is only a small window of time with which to provide medication to stop the swelling. Swelling impinges on blood supply and can result in necrosis of brain tissue.
