They repeated the colonoscopy and again turned up focal active colitis. The doctor there has been treating me with Lialda and Entocort. The number of bathroom trips has decreased to about 5-6 a day, and things are much more 'solid'. However, the pain is steadily getting worse. It's mostly left side, from under my ribcage down to above my hip. I get it on the upper right side as well, but generally not as severe.
I would appreciate any insight you might have on this.
I have just started taking Lialda. I previously took Asacol. I enjoy the Lialda because I was taking 3 pills three times a day with Asacol and now I only take 4 pills once a day with Lialda. I haven't been on the Lialda for very long, but so far the results are good. I'm not sure that it is better than Asacol, but I think it is easier and equal in performance. You might ask your doctor if they have any prescription cards for Lialda.
I carry an expandable back scratcher in my purse and I sleep with a steel comb under my pillow, because I have bouts of crazy, crazy itching in the middle of the night, right in the middle of my back where I can not reach. My shins have been itching and I find myself waking up with raw shins from scratching in the middle of the night. I have gone through many many tubes of cortisone cream, but the fix is only temporary.
I am on Lialda as well. I do not have experience any symptoms from the medication. Though, if you do not swollow the pill quick enough, it can start to dissolve in your mouth leaving a bad taste, or if you do not swollow enough water and you burp, you can also get a bad taste in your mouth, haha.

I used Betamethasone valerate mixed with an antibiotic ointment on the smooth mucosa skin (not glans) for a friction burn that wouldn't heal after a month. It got much better and stated healing after just a few days use. My dermatologist winged me off of it in a week and finished up with just the antibiotic ointment for another week. I think it was mypriocin. Note, this is not the same thing as Betamethasone dipropionate and was not being place on glans nor scrotum.

Looking for a second opinion my Gynecologics feels that I need to have my uterus removed through the vagina so the can repair the rectocele and the weakness of the back wall of the vagina. The fact that there is no further blood in the urine indicates that the break in the urethral mucosa is healing. This is a very crucial stage as formation of urethral strictures occurs as healing progresses, due to formation of scar tissue.
You will need to ensure that you keep the lumen of the urethra flushed frequently so as to avoid adhesions and the formation of a stricture. You will need to keep your fluid intake at the point were you need to pass urine every 2 hours.
