Lialda healing well

Common Questions and Answers about Lialda healing well

asacol

Avatar m tn Lialda works very well for me. Been on it for over a year total time here. I think I recall having headaches at first, then again I do have Migraines and am already taking Topamax for that so maybe I am just immune to the head pain. But Headaches are a common side effect/complaint of the Lialda. Definitely worth sucking it up for as long as possible; Headaches should go away in due time. Try taking it at night AND with some food. IMO, Lialda is far superior to Asacol.
Avatar f tn I am on Lialda as well. I do not have experience any symptoms from the medication. Though, if you do not swollow the pill quick enough, it can start to dissolve in your mouth leaving a bad taste, or if you do not swollow enough water and you burp, you can also get a bad taste in your mouth, haha.
Avatar f tn My 16y/o daughter has UC. Has been on Lialda 2.4 g/day for 6 months. She was on prednisone for the first 4 months of the same time period. Has had significant hair loss for the last 5 months. Cortisol AM is normal. My duaghter also has ITP and is considered chronic, it usually manifests during a UC flare up. Is the Lialda a possible culprit.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else experienced weight gain around the stomach while on Lialda? I've had UC for 22 years and have been on several different medications. I was on Prednisone for 14 years and never gained a pound. In February of 2009 I was put on Lialda after a 4 year remission. I gained 10 pounds within two weeks, all on my stomach. Last November, I had another flare that lasted 4 months (I never lost a pound even though I was eating very little).
1070971 tn?1299614110 I was told that I have inflamation in my small intestine after having the pill cam done so I was put on Lialda. It works great. I have actually been able to go to the bathroom without Milk of Magnesia or other stool softeners. I have noticed that I have gained alot of weight in a short time though. About 10 pounds in 2-3 weeks. Has anyone experienced weight gain with this medication? Is this just water retention? I am not happy about it!
Avatar m tn I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
1269644 tn?1270486006 Hello everyone! I recently had a Colonoscopy to find out what is going on with me.. I have had bloody diarrhea, dizziness, muscle aches/pains, fatigue and nausea for the past 9 months. The Dr. said that he saw some inflammation in the left side of my colon and took some Biopsies. Is this how he can tell if it is Crohn's or UC? Can't he tell just by the imaging through the Colonoscopy? What can they determine under a scope? Also, he prescribed me Lialda 2x's a day..
Avatar f tn hi there yes i have uc and bowel sounds are quite normal for me as soon as i eat? then i have to go on the loo !!
Avatar n tn I tried to do the same thing with getting my Lialda medication but they never replied back to my paperwork or anything. I am going to try again this year to see if I can get it.
Avatar n tn it has been 16 days and it does not appear to be healing well. question is does this part of the body take longer to heal? is it possible that this was not a wart? if so, can i expect slower healing time? I made a follow up appointment for 10 days from now, but i am still worried.
Avatar f tn I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily). I am also on Lisinopril (20mg 1x), Rosuvastatin (10mg 1x), and Citalopram (20mg, 1x). In addition to prescription meds, I also take one vitamin D3 (2000 IU) daily, as well as two 650mg Acetaminophen tablets. I tend to pay a lot of attention to my liver, since I had a good friend pass away of liver cancer at an early age.
Avatar m tn s for the last 5yrs and am on 5mg of Prednisone/day as well just being switched to Lialda 2.4gms/day (from Pentasa 4gms/day) one month ago. I was started on Famvir today-500mg tid. I am leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday and am scheduled to swim with the dolphins on Thursday. I have completed my first full day's dose of medicine and will continue until the prescription is completed. I am then staying on a maintenance dose of 250mg/day until I can get the vaccine in 6mos at age 60.
Avatar f tn As far as I understand current IBD protocols, steroids are only used short term to bring about remission, but we need an immuno-suppressor drug (Remicade, Humira, Cimzia) for maintenance of remission. I do know what I am talking about and steer clear of well-meaning people who advocate stopping prescribed meds and using alternative medication. Aloe vera will not stop the immune system from over-reacting - if it did, all gastros would be prescribing it.
Avatar f tn Yea he jus put me on lialda for now thanks for responding im jus trying to deal with it!
Avatar f tn Then I will be fine for a while and then it will start all over again. I do have UC as well. I took myself off my meds in March and I still have symptoms of my UC for sure. Was on Lialda 4 pills 2x's daily for 3 years. I don't drink, I do smoke on the weekends but not during the week. Any idea on what could be going on?
Avatar f tn It's doable. You may still be bleeding but that's about it. It also depends on you and your body though. I recovered a few weeks after birth.
1551642 tn?1294351934 The Clarithromycin therapy seems to have worked well for you, or as a factor in your healing? I am so hopeful that you remain well. I think you will. Thank you so much for sharing your story.
958842 tn?1266512599 Well, today one of my old really good girlfriends had her baby boy! We had the same due date, & talked ALL the time the first few weeks! even were texting each other while I was in England on Vaca! I lost mine @ 11 weeks, & it was pretty tough for me to talk to her etc....... I DID, cuz I didn't want her feeling bad, but it was hard sometimes for me to do ;( Anyway, today is my son's bday (11!!!) & she text me to tell me she had him ;) I was so happy for her!
Avatar n tn You need to see a gastoenterologist, who will want to confirm this with a colonoscopy. there are specific meds for this, all RX - like Asacol or Lialda that will make life bearable again. In the meantime, try Activia yogurt every day, and a supplement of Aloe Vera gel capsules made by Pharmassure - available at Rite-aid.
Avatar f tn Well speaking from experience all I can say is time. You know the saying "time heals all wounds"? Well this is true. I also know that you can control your thoughts but that takes time to master. What I do is I tell myself I will not allow myself to be a victim. I will not let the actions of others determine my happiness. If the people in your life that caused that hurt try hard to repair the damage they did, then you can also learn to forgive. But again, it all takes time.
Avatar m tn Ulcerative colitis treatment usually involves either drug therapy or surgery. Some drugs that work well for some people may not work for others, so it may take time to find a medication that helps you. If diet and lifestyle changes, drug therapy, or other treatments don't relieve your signs and symptoms, your doctor may recommend surgery. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Regards.
Avatar m tn They repeated the colonoscopy and again turned up focal active colitis. The doctor there has been treating me with Lialda and Entocort. The number of bathroom trips has decreased to about 5-6 a day, and things are much more 'solid'. However, the pain is steadily getting worse. It's mostly left side, from under my ribcage down to above my hip. I get it on the upper right side as well, but generally not as severe. I would appreciate any insight you might have on this.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
Avatar f tn it works and helps with the dehydration issue as well. If you cant sleep at least try to rest. Soaking in a warm tub of water helps some. Epsom salts has magnesium in it and using it in the tub when you soak seems to help some as well. Worth a try. You can become dependent on the pills no matter the amount. Everyone is different about how their brain and bodies handle the opiates. You stay on them long enough you can become addicted.
225036 tn?1294509400 I am so glad that your surgery went well! Now I will pray that you have a speedy recovery and that everything works out well for you! In the meantime take care, and get lots of rest!
495284 tn?1333894042 Avis had surgery this morning so lets all send her some get well wishes. I will let everyone know how she is doing when i hear from her. Avis, you rest this time and let your mom and daughter take care of you.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with UC in late 2007. Since then, I've responded well to treatment via Rowasa enemas typically every other night, and nightly if I have a flare (of which I've had one since 2007). About 8 months ago, I started experiencing abdominal pain that is very difficult to pin down. It doesn't appear to be relate to what I eat and doesn't appear to be in a specific spot (general abdominal discomfort and what sometimes feels like swelling).
Avatar m tn The antidepressants were definitely the key to getting me well. I went 8 months being sick to my stomach and just could not take it anymore, it was no life, just a struggle to get through each day. I wish I had known a lot earlier that I needed an antidepressant to get better. It was more of a physical thing with me than mental, I was so nauseated it was driving me out of my mind. Of course I had bad anxiety too but the physical was definitely the worst.
