Lialda not dissolving

Common Questions and Answers about Lialda not dissolving

asacol

Avatar m tn It used to work really well but now does not so I am going to try the Lialda. Asacol already gived me migranes so not too worried about that part with the Lialda.
Avatar f tn I am on Lialda as well. I do not have experience any symptoms from the medication. Though, if you do not swollow the pill quick enough, it can start to dissolve in your mouth leaving a bad taste, or if you do not swollow enough water and you burp, you can also get a bad taste in your mouth, haha.
Avatar f tn My duaghter also has ITP and is considered chronic, it usually manifests during a UC flare up. Is the Lialda a possible culprit.
Avatar f tn I have always been a very thin person and do not like looking like I am pregnant when I am not! Has anyone else had this issue with Lialda. How about knee pain? Itching? Any help is greatly appreciated.
1070971 tn?1299614110 I have actually been on Lialda for a year and have experienced a gain of about 5 lbs. In hopes of loosing those 5 pounds I have been working out basically 4 days a week since May doing pretty high intensity work outs like running 3 miles and taking spin classes - i have not lost a single pound!!!!...im looking for answers too! I was thinking that maybe it makes it difficult to loose weight. if you find any answers I'd love to know!
Avatar m tn I am currently taking lialda 2 capsules twice a day. I basically stopped taking the lialda because it made me feel worse than I already was. My question is is there a reason why the lialda makes me have pain in my gut. Are there any other new meds out there of UC? Are there any new surgeries to cure UC?
Avatar n tn I started taking Lialda in August, 2008, and took it (3-1g tabs once per day) for 5 months before I got better. However, I am not sure whether to credit the Lialda or the Flora-Q I began taking after three months into my treatment. I have lymphocytic colitis so this may not pertain directly to your diagnosis, but I hope it helps.
1269644 tn?1270486006 Hello everyone! I recently had a Colonoscopy to find out what is going on with me.. I have had bloody diarrhea, dizziness, muscle aches/pains, fatigue and nausea for the past 9 months. The Dr. said that he saw some inflammation in the left side of my colon and took some Biopsies. Is this how he can tell if it is Crohn's or UC? Can't he tell just by the imaging through the Colonoscopy? What can they determine under a scope? Also, he prescribed me Lialda 2x's a day..
Avatar n tn Is there a cheaper medicine out there for this ? I can not afford my medicine!
Avatar f tn hi there yes i have uc and bowel sounds are quite normal for me as soon as i eat? then i have to go on the loo !!
Avatar f tn They should dissolve not fall out.
Avatar n tn I do not know the size or the amount of gallstones as of yet. I am not really in pain, but I did have bouts of nausea, heat flashes, aches, my lymph nodes were even swollen, slight stiff neck with the slight headache. One day I had pain on my right side and under the rib cage. Doctors were baffled for a week but I kept pushing. What I do know is I was not eating and drinking the right things for my body and that is most likely why I feel like this.
Avatar n tn I was not really sure where to post this but as it relates to my circumcision I thought perhaps I should ask it here. I had a circumcision 6 weeks ago, the wound has healed and I did not have any problems with infection but I am left with 2 problems. I still have some swelling just behind the glands, it is sort of a ring of swelling, with one side being more swollen then the other. It is not painful but it is fairly hard and feels weird.
Avatar f tn I just had this procedure 6 weeks ago and am experiencing the same symptoms. The packing is not dissolving. Smell is awful and bright green. Surgeon put me on antibiotics and steroids and tried sucking it out but it’s still there. Did you improve? This is awful!
1828249 tn?1320012338 BUT IF GIVES OFF A HORRIBLE TASTE SO I END UP SWALLOWING IT. IS THAT WRONG, OR DOES IT NOT MATTER AS LONG AS I'M GETTING IT?
277836 tn?1359666174 Hi, Ulcerative colitis is disease of exacerbations and remissions. Medications to induce remission are as 5-ASA products (e.g., Lialda®, Asacol®, Pentasa®, Dipentum®, etc.) and prednisolone/cyclosporins. The last two medications have more side effects especially on long term usage. Therefore, you need to discuss with your doctor about the possibility of switching your medication to 5-ASA compounds. However it depends upon the severity of your disease.
Avatar n tn I have noticed that my asacol is not breaking down and is being passed in my stool! Is their a reason for this? What can/should I do?
Avatar n tn It's possible you might be able to try some stone dissolving medications, but you'd have to check with your doc to see if you're a candidate for those type of meds. Sludge can cause a myriad of problems such as moving into the common bile duct and 'lodging,' or moving through the biliary system and irritating the sphincter of Oddi - the muscular opening to the duodenum and that can cause a lot of pain and long-term issues.
Avatar f tn I had laparoscopic surgery 8 weeks ago and they used dissolving stitches. Everything looked healed incision wise but I now have a red small bumpy rash around each incision site and it is VERY itchy. Tried otc cortizone cream and benadryl but nothing helps. Someone said maybe it's an immune response to the dissolving stitches? Anyone hear of this before?
Avatar f tn Hello, I am a 47 year old male, diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 26. Over the past couple of years, I have noticed on occasion that I will have white streaks in my stool. Most of it is a normal color, just with white streaks embedded. Not mucus-y. I've noticed it quite a bit the past couple of weeks. I was on Asacol for many years, but my new insurance company made we switch to Lialda a couple of months ago (three 1.2GM tablets 1x daily).
Avatar f tn Some people also use Garlic extract to also thin the blood in addition to Omega fish oils (softgel, not tablet form - and from a healthfood store or reliable source, not a drug store). The up side is that Dad can continue to eat greens, take vitamins and not have the side effects he had with Coumadin. I hope this helps!
Avatar f tn My surgeon is away till tomorrow and the on call dr said might be an immune response to dissolving stitch material? I tried benadryl and otc cortizone cream but not much help. Anyone here of this?
Avatar n tn You should be drinking 8 large glasses atleast per day. Sometimes, if you are not drinking enough water, that can make your urine very strong. Is the color dark yellow or is it clear? Is urine cloudy?
Avatar f tn Oo bump this is a great ?..
Avatar m tn s for the last 5yrs and am on 5mg of Prednisone/day as well just being switched to Lialda 2.4gms/day (from Pentasa 4gms/day) one month ago. I was started on Famvir today-500mg tid. I am leaving for Hawaii on Wednesday and am scheduled to swim with the dolphins on Thursday. I have completed my first full day's dose of medicine and will continue until the prescription is completed. I am then staying on a maintenance dose of 250mg/day until I can get the vaccine in 6mos at age 60.
Avatar f tn I do know what I am talking about and steer clear of well-meaning people who advocate stopping prescribed meds and using alternative medication. Aloe vera will not stop the immune system from over-reacting - if it did, all gastros would be prescribing it. At best it is a placebo, at worst a waste of money, as my gastro has frequently told me. Take care, Liz.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in early stage. Right now I am talking Lialda 1.2 mg 3 tablets once a day. The above symptoms have totally vanished. But literally I am not eating any spicy food or fibre food. I want to know the diet plan.I really lost weight. I have a new problem past 2 weeks. Every morning around 6.30 am or so i have a contracting pain in my lower left ribs. It's very stabbing and also I have lower back pain.
