My dog has had hypothyroidism for several years and has been on 0.2 mg of Levothyroxine twice daily ever since. Recently, when they did a check on his T4 they found that it was low and they increased it immediately to 0.4 mg. A week or two later he began to significantly pant and wheeze. Then he decided to give him 150 mg of Theophylline twice daily. Could the thyroid dose change have caused these symptoms or is it a coincidence?

I feel like I am in the same boat!! I had a hyperactive thyroid and was way over weight! So I took radioactive iodine and started my levothyroxine...now I am getting bigger!!! I exercise, and eat healthy (lots of veggies and chicken) but after a month I only lost 2lbs...I know it is better then nothing, but when you are over 300lbs it is a tiny step!

I have been on levothyroxine for 3 months now, I feel wonderfull and am loosing weight. However my Dr recently put me on Metformin for PCOS and Insulin Resistance, I feel terrible! All I want to do is sleep. GI probelms not bothersome. My doc said to stop the Metformin and I feel normal again. How can I get my insulin down without feeling like crap? My pharmacist also said the 2 drugs interact with eachother. Please Help!

i have been diagnoed underactive thyroid for 11 years now, i get my blood levels measured avery 6 months and they are stable, i take 200mcg levothyroxine daily, so how come i still get all the symptoms, hair loss, dry skin, feel cold, depression, tired, and i was never so heavy as now, ever,seem to have a slow metabolism, although if i strict diet it does slowly come off, but whos gonna diet theyre whole life,i do eat healthily, always low fat options,welcome any opinions

Since you are taking levothyroxine, and not being tested for Free T3 and Free T4, I suggest that your first step should be to get that testing done, in order to find out your actual levels. If the doctor resists, just insist on it and don't take no for an answer. It is that important. Since hypo patients are also frequently too low in the ranges for Vitamin D, B12 and ferritin, I suggest getting those tested as well.

I am concerned about clinical trials for myopic degeneration patients as well as causes. I have hypothyroid disease. I am not a smoker and neverhave been. ve learned that the FT4 should be around 50% of the range and the FT3 around 75% in order to be relieved of symptoms and to be able to lose weight, grow hair, have energy etc. Good luck and don't give up.

5 mcg of the Levothyroxine and add the other half grain of Nature-Throid, and take it in the afternoon. With T3 meds it is better to split the dose and even out the effect of the T3 over the whole day. After a couple of weeks of that dosage, then you can judge where to go from there.
