I went to a new chemist this morning and he said I should never take the 2 tablets together as they will cause low blood pressure. So my wife is a virgin and we had non penetrative sex and some sperm was left on her vagina and we got worried that she could get pregnant then she took emergency contraceptive (levonorgestrel) 48 hours after. Then after 2 days we did non penetrative sex again and we got worried about pregnancy and she took emergency contraception again. This is emergency contraceptive twice in a week.
But later on when I discussed it with my family doctor, he told me strictly to stop taking the BP tablets immediately - because BP tablets are meant to be a life-long medication, whereas my high BP only started recently and will most likely come down by itself.
My worry is that I have already had one BP tablet - if I listened to my family doctor and stopped it immediately, will there be any severe consequences that I will have to bear?
I have problem of BP as well as acute knee pain since last 10 yrs and since last 3/4 months increased too much with swelling on foot- ankles due to increased dosage of Amlodipine-5 mg as pain killer causing increased BP. Now painkillers Dalonat and orecerin gm tablets are not reducing pain and causes cramps in both legs many times.Earlier Numoside with paracitomal used to stop pain for whole day but increased BP to 180/100 so stopped it.

While I understand that there is always a risk of DVT, depression or stroke when taking contraceptive pills, I was thinking, there are other brand of pills which contains more or less the same hormones ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. So should I be concerned? I have been on other brand of pills in the past which contained ethinylestradiol and norethisterone and I was fine with it.
