About three weeks ago, I had a mirena IUD removed after 5 years of use. I am 51, and have not had a period in 2 years. I thought I had gone through menopause - hot flashes, night sweats, etc. Now, I am having a period! I did have 4 days of light spotting after the mirena came out. Now, I started with two days of brown spotting, and now the blood is birght red, and seems to be picking up speed. Is this normal?
I didnt know that this had anything to do with the lump in my breast but after researching a bit i found several women who have had healthy breasts until they recieved the iud. my first iud was placed in 2004 and i found a lump early in 2007. that lump came and went and was painful to touch. mammogram and ultrasound were negative. i found another lump about 4 months ago. this one does not hurt has not changed and i also have itchy patchy parts on my nipple.
I am pretty sure Mirena is a hormone releasing IUD, as opposed to a traditional copper one. I am not a doctor, but you may just have a comnination of slight inflammation from the actual insertion, and possibly some water weight if you are sensitive to progesterone or anything.
I would go back to your regular diet and exercise plan, try to keep everything else in your life as stable as possible and give it 10 days before you decide you have "permanently" gained weight.
It seems my best bet would be IUD. I read a lot of archives on Mirena and ParaGard here and else where. I cannot decide which one to take.
Most Mirena users are happy with it. Some reported weight gain and mood change. In addition, very few women were diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after they had Mirena inserted. They all attributed to the low dose of levonorgestrel contained in Mirena since breast cancer is a hormone-sensitive cancer.
So me and my husband have 2 beautiful girls and are wanting a boy so bad I go Friday to get my iud out I haven't really had a period since having the iud put in but I do wipe and a little blood is On the toilet paper on July 3rd and my face is so broke out I need to know when is the best time for us to have sex to help insure it's a boy .... can anyone help?
I just got my IUD removed 3-25-11 im trying hard to conecive a girl im trying and reading everything on the subject im anexsily waiting my period so I can start tracking my ovulation.
I had the mirena for 18 months. At the beginning I still had normal periods. As the months went on, the periods got lighter and lighter... the last 6 months, I had no period at all. I had it removed on June 1, 2009 and I was told that I would get a period shortly after. Well it is now 7 weeks later and I still have had no period. I have used the ovulation prediction kit and there is no sign of me releasing an egg.
I'm currently on birth control pills (Ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel) and i'm overweight so i'm planning on taking Hydroxycut Hardcore Next Gen. Will Hydroxycut affect the effectiveness of my bcp?
An hour later, I took the 72-hour emergency contraceptive levonorgestrel, two tablets of 0.75 mg. Is my girlfriend more likely to get pregnant? Sorry, my English is not very good.
I have been on Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol birth control pills for more than 1 year. My last period occured during 10th Sept 2012. I stopped taking the pills from the 5th day of the current period cycle. We had unprotected sex from the 12th day of the current menstrual period cycle. Now just after doing the sex, I have started feeling sore nipples, dizzyness, cramps in lower abdomen, very thirsty and sometimes pain in one side of the body.
Each tablet contains 0.75mg Levonorgestrel. and told me not to worry nothing will happen. but i am afraid please tell me if there is any chances of getting pregnant
let me precise the whole thing
1- we were enjoying dry humping. (no intercourse and dry humping with full clothes on)

3- my last periods were ended on 4th Feb. they were in between 29 jan to 4 feb.
so early monday morning , my boyfriend and i were having sex and our condom broke . i have levonorgestrel at my disposal , but i haven't used it as a regular birth control . we had a similar situation a few months ago , and i used 4 pills of levonorgestrel immediately , & then 4 more in 12 hours following the first dosage , as recommended by a university healthcare website . everything worked out fine , & i felt very mild abdominal pain .
Also, I took a pill after maybe around 14 hours after? I took the Levonorgestrel 3x/day and I am on my 3rd day taking it so I already consumed 9 tabs.
Can I still get pregnant? I am so anxious and paranoid because I am still in the university and just about to reach my dreams. I am also too young to conceived and I was raised in a society which pre-marital sex is not honored. I am so shameful about myself to be honest.
So, my questions are. Am I actually ovulating? Am I releasing eggs or have all my eggs for months been tucked away in cysts? She basically said the best way out was going on the pill, which seems counterintuitive to me, because Id be adding on more estrogen. Also, breast cancer runs in my family, which is why Ive been avoiding the pill. My thyroid is fine, so theres no connection there.

So my wife is a virgin and we had non penetrative sex and some sperm was left on her vagina and we got worried that she could get pregnant then she took emergency contraceptive (levonorgestrel) 48 hours after. Then after 2 days we did non penetrative sex again and we got worried about pregnancy and she took emergency contraception again. This is emergency contraceptive twice in a week.
Plan B® is FDA approved — it contains the hormone levonorgestrel, the same ingredient found in many birth control pills. The difference is that Plan B® contains a larger dose of levonorgestrel than the amount found in a single birth control pill. And, unlike many birth control pills, Plan B® does not contain any estrogen.

While I understand that there is always a risk of DVT, depression or stroke when taking contraceptive pills, I was thinking, there are other brand of pills which contains more or less the same hormones ethinylestradiol and levonorgestrel. So should I be concerned? I have been on other brand of pills in the past which contained ethinylestradiol and norethisterone and I was fine with it.
