I am 27 years old with a family history of breast cancer. My mom was diagnosed with BC a few months after her doctor put her on birth control pills. To be cautious, I have never been on pills or any other systematic hormone-related contraception (e.g. Nuvaring, patch, shots etc). It seems my best bet would be IUD. I read a lot of archives on Mirena and ParaGard here and else where. I cannot decide which one to take.
Most Mirena users are happy with it. Some reported weight gain and mood change.

What you've done is reduced your risk for another estrogen positive breast cancer and ovarian cancer. But that doesn't mean you won't get a different type of breast cancer in the remaining breast tissue or another part of your body.
But you know as well as I do that each year we are NED with cancer is better for our odds.
I am 55 years old had recttal cancer removed 4/o8, and luckly no bag and no treatment. I have dense breast with micro calcification. Had a biopsy of right breast 2 years ago and was fine. Went for mamo and sono this past Monday and they saw microcalcification that they say is suspicious. So next friday I go to the hospital for yet anothet biopsy.
My question is, for my surgery in april for the rectal cancer I had a chest cat scan and a full body pet scan. Both came up good.

The problem with this statement, is that male breast cancer seems to be such a rare occurrence in medicine, how does anyone really know? Breast cancer in men is a very slowly progressing disease, since it is encouraged by estrogen, men have little, therefore if they should get breast cancer it may well be a long time before symptoms occur. Two things: My surgeon said that my tumor was 7 years old, that was her guess.
I've had taxotere adriamycin and cytoxin for breast cancer. I am now having some incontinence and think it may be part of the nerve damage I've experienced in my hands and feet (numbness). I feel like it's not a very common side effect (if that's what it is). I also have a weak voice for about a month. I go back to the Oncologist next month for some answers.
