Hi, stuffy head, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat are the symptoms of common cold due to infection or allergic rhinitis. Some viruses causing infection are rhinovirus, influenza, adenovirus, echovirus etc.
Infection is transmitted through inhaling droplets and touching infected areas. Sinusitis has symptoms like feeling pressure on forehead, sinus drainage, fatigue, poor sense to smell and taste, bad breath, sore throat, ear pain etc.
It could have started as allergic rhinitis and got aggravated by use of nasal sprays,,rhinitis medicamentosa (inflammation of the nasal mucous membrane due to application of topical nasal sprays, ointments and drops). The symptoms could also be due to vasomotor rhinitis (in response to dry air) or viral infection.
Deviated nasal septum, nasal polyps and tumors can also cause persistent nasal congestion.
So either you could be having both allergic and non-allergic rhinitis or their could be certain substances otherwise associated with allegic rhinitis which could trigger symptos in case of non allergic rhinitis.
You also need to rule out associated sinusistis which could cause or aggravate your symptoms.

Samitivej hospital diagnosed it as Allergic Rhinitis and Bangkok hospital has diagnosed it as Allergic Rhinitis.The doctor say that my septum is deviated but not that much to cause a nasal blockage and neither it has caused any obstruction in nose.They advise me that I would have to take only nasal spray such as Avamys and Nasones for a long time.
Other possibilities are diabetes insipidus,glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis(inflammation of the kidneys),urinary tract infection,hypercalcemia,hypokalemia(low potassium),hyperthyroidism,hyperparathyroidism,diuretic drugs and benign hyperplasia of the prostate(in males).Allergic rhinitis can explain the headaches and eustachean tube dysfunction but it cannot explain the other symptoms.
In Aug, my PCP referred me to ENT and suggested to add Astelin for treating me persistent rhinitis. I did an allergy blood test for 13 kinds of environmental allergen but it’s negative.
I did ask my PCP if I am having asthma. She said it’s only an allergy.
However, she said I need to keep taking/refilling Flonase & Singulair for long-term, and keep my Albuterol handy. My PCP said I can use the inhaler if I cough a lot at night, feeling short of breathe or wheezing.
I was diagnosed with Non allergic rhinitis in the sixth week after possible high risk exposure, Until to date 10th week post exposure am still being bothered with it. My soft palate has some kind of tiny bumps i can feel them with my tongue. I got tested, ELISA on 9th week, an am waiting for the results this coming Friday. i have had no Fever, no Adenopathy, no Pharyngitis, no Rash, Diarrhea, no Nausea or vomiting, no Hepatosplenomegaly. no Neurologic symptoms .
I had a colonoscopy yesterday and in the treatment area was given sedation. Prior to sedation a flexible tube with foam at the end was put into my left nostril to deliver forced oxygen.As it was put in I felt an 'itch' in my nostril and about one hour after my colonoscopy I began to suffer rhinitis - I spent the rest of the day sneezing with this terrible itch inside my left nostril driving me mad. Fluid was pouring from this nostril.
I have had a tickly persistent now for 20 + years. I have it all the year round and it is getting worse and I also have post nasal drip and itchiness mainly round my trunk. I have had numerous tests done at the hospital arranged by my GP and everything has come back clear.
I have not had any allergy testing done my GP says he doesn't think it is necessary but this is ruining my life.
