levemir

1353681 tn?1387083733 Insurance forced me transition from Lantus to Levemir in February, and I haven't seen any difference in effectiveness. I am only taking one injection before bed, and it's worked just as well as Lantus in keeping my morning numbers in range. The biggest difference I noticed was that Lantus would burn every time I injected and Levemir does not.
Avatar f tn and will stay high untill your body makes enough insulin or you inject FAST insulin. Taking levemir to counter eating will result in dangerously low BG (Hypoglycemia)! Insulin use is difficult to explain, you need to talk to an MD that knows how to administer Basal/Bolus insulin therapy. And or read the book "Using insulin by John Walsh" Levemir is used to regulate your fasting BG. and the fast insulin used to counter carbohydrate in the diet.
Avatar f tn the levemir is a long acting insulin so it will be in her system for 24 hours. what is here normal does of Levemir? when and how often dose she take levemir? She will have to check her BG more often and watch out for Hypos (low BG). make sure she always has her test kit and a fast acting carb (IE reg sugar soda, orange juice, glucose tabs...) to raise BG with her.
Avatar n tn The Levemir is NOT on a sliding scale. It is a given does once a day Or twice a day. 12 hours apart. is his 224 after eating or first thing in the morning before food or drink?
Avatar n tn When you eat, you need the fast acting insulin like Novolog to act quickly to cover the meal. For some, Lantus and Levemir act the same. For me, Levemir seemed to work better in that it provided more consistency to my blood sugar levels. I like Levemir. I have switched to 2 shots per day (morning and night) instead of just taking the 1 shot at night, because the 1 shot at night may not cover the 24 hours.
Avatar n tn Apidra takes effect in 10 - 15 minutes, peaks in 30 - 60 minutes, and is gone within 4 hours. Levemir takes effect in 3 - 6 hours, peaks in 6 - 15 hours, and is gone within 18 - 24 hours. It is possible your Levemir dose is gone before you expect it to be, which is why your scores are now higher in the morning. Consult your endocrinologist about possibly changing the time that you take the Levemir, as that could change your scores.
Avatar n tn 1-2 unit increase in levemir is not going to make a big change in anthing considering you already take 22 units. But still you need to increase slowly over a period of days - weeks. I think it is anxiety that made your feel bad. Please consider to split the levemir into 2 doses, each of 11 units. Then increase by 1 - 2 units per dose every few days until your blood sugars come down.
Avatar m tn t do) was to note the serial number of the vial (probably a multiple dose vial) of vaccine and file an adverse reaction form with the FDA. Immediately ask if he did so and request a copy of the report. Ask him for the serial number of the vial. His failure to file this report is serious and warrants a complaint to the State Medical Board. Usually these problems come from impurities in the vaccine, and the FDA should have been notified immediately. Go to the FDA site to find the form.
Avatar n tn m on novolog and levemir (levemir is just at bedtime).
Avatar n tn When I started using 2u Lantus in morning, 2 weeks ago, I'd go low in the late afternoon/early evening, and then my morning sugars would be elevated ... 140s, 150s. So I split the dose: I'm now using 1.5u Lantus AM & 1u Lantus PM. It definitely works better than 2u QD, and I've checked the middle of the night - not a problem. The drug sheet for Lantus doesn't mention BID dosing, but my internet articles do. What are your thoughts, and is Levemir better for BID dosing?
Avatar m tn I have seen a dentist to use same syringe for 2nd use xylocaine ijection (local anasthesia) from multi dose via for the same patient though new syringe is used for separate patient for the same vial. Can it make the rest of the vial nfected by HIV. Though no trace of blood seen in the xylocaine solution . what is the posiblity of getting hiv infection solution. how long HIV survive in the xylocaine even if some infected blood is entered in it.
Avatar f tn but i had a heck of a time with air bubbles forming in the procrit solution in the vial when i am drawing out the solution into the syringe. when i first start to withdraw the solution i get a big air bubble in the syringe, and then somehow when i push the plunger up to get rid of it...it must be creating clusters of small air bubbles in the vial solution....took some patience, but i was able to do ok...and was able to get out the full amount of procrit i needed (hopefully)....
250701 tn?1320974765 i found it a little tricky getting the solution out of the vial....i was not sure how low to keep the needle point so that it is still in the solution as i am withdrawing the procrit into the needle. if i mess up and i don't withdraw enough solution, can i just put the needle back in the vial and draw some more out? and when you put the air into the vial from the syringe, do you put are air into the solution as i was not sure if that caused bubble to form. thanks.
Avatar n tn After eating a usual sized meal, and having injected my usual Novo Rapid dose pre-meal, I watched a movie and then at 11pm time of origin injected levemir as I would usually do before bed. As I injected, however, there was a very unusual reaction on the skin (in a usual injection site). The site turned very red and then spread to a short area around the injection site. Shortly after that, I began to feel unwell and nauseous and started gagging, although I didn't throw up.
Avatar m tn If during a blood draw, a persons blood was drawn into a partially used blood vial containing infected blood, is it possible that the other persons blood in the vial can flow out through the needle and into the vein?
Avatar f tn about blood sugars in the 800s, and your husband seems to be in denial of the results of extremely high blood sugars. I don't think cinnamon is a safe recommendation for someone with high enough blood sugars to have ketones and at risk for DKA. DKA can be a life threatening emergency.

Avatar n tn Me, my mother and the doctor were in the room, he came in with a little vial, gave it to me and said "drink as much as you want, you can drink the whole thing of half or whatever you want". The vial was very small, I didn't intend to drink the whole thing but it was empty before I knew it. It destroyed my whole thyroid, now I'm taking synthroid pills .175 mg a day.But yes he let me decide at the ripe, mature age of 13!
