Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin dosage information

levaquin

Avatar m tn Thank you. I really need a lot of information about the topic, because my Achilles tendon was ruptured after levaquin was prescribed in 2006.
Avatar f tn My prior medical history is gastroparesis (of unknown etiology) and was just recently treated for a sinus infection with Levaquin 750 mg for 5 days. I was also very nauseous and dizzy today for several hours. Had a vague pain behind my eyes. Any thoughts?
551343 tn?1506830518 Ditto Rico, I have Bart's which looks like that. For Bart's you need a different abx, levaquin or rifampin come to mind. Hope you are able to get one.
Avatar n tn No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago). Any ideas about what is going on? thanks so much.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.
Avatar n tn I went to the doctor who suggested it could be a bacterial infection, and prescribed me Levaquin. I got tested for every potential STD: HIV, Hep A/B, Syphilis, etc. Now, let's say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose.
Avatar m tn Had an UTI and hence was put on levaquin. After the 8th day of taking levaquin, i had the problem of not able to swallow food.. Stopped levaquin and UTI went away. Since then, i had a feeling that something is stuck in throat and particularly at nites, i was not able to sleep properly. had mylanta and prilosec and the situation got improved.. doctor recommended aciphex and currently i am on that..
Avatar f tn It is recommended that you follow the prescription dosage and time your doctor made to avoid any resistance to your present antibiotic. I also strongly advise that you have these sores evaluated by your doctor and to let him drain them properly. Try to avoid popping them yourself. MRSA bacteria enter the body through a cut or other wound. And the pus from infected sores may contain MRSA. It is important that you wash your hands and avoid sharing personal items. Keep wounds covered.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed prednisone, Symbicort, and also wants to give me Levaquin. I am over 55 years old, and I also have pre-diabetes (6.0 A1C - and am on metformin), and high blood pressure being successfully treated via Benicar. Two nurse friends of mine are literally screaming at me to not take the Levaquin due to achilles muscle rupture tendencies (one is suffering personally from it at this time and has been for more than one year now).
Avatar f tn Hopefully someone else will come on with more information than I have about Levaquin, but what it sounds like to me is that you had or have, a hypersensitive reaction to it. I am NOT a doctor, so that is just a guess on my part. What did the ER docs say? That all your tests came back normal should be very reassuring to you, but I know how frightened you must have been! I trust you have been back to the prescribing doctor and told him/her what you went through!
Avatar n tn I went to a Urologist who said he believes it could possibly be epididymitis because my right testical was slightly swollen...but he was unsure. He perscribed me a month long dosage of Levaquin... My question to him was(which he really didn't answer).... If both tests came back negative for Clahmydia(along with other common STI's) is it ok for me to be sexually active unprotected(reasons I don't want to get in to) with my partner??
Avatar f tn I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone...has anyone ever been on Levaquin (it's in the same class of antibiotics as Cipro)? I was on it for 5 days of my 10 when I started getting some wrist pain and they took me off it. I didn't even know it causes tendon damage. Just wondering if anyone else had those side effects??? I think my mom was on it (IV) but didn't have any side effects. All I can say is if they want to put you on it, ask for something else unless there is no choice! Thanks!

Avatar m tn I believed I had epididmytitis earlier. I took levaquin. Later, I wondered if there could be any chance of contracting HIV. Anyhow, I know that the only way is to get tested, but while waiting for a good time to get tested, as it's still a bit early to get an accurate result, I'd like to ask the question in the title. I know that levaquin is for killing bacteria and that HIV is a virus. Yet, can levaquin indirectly prevent ars symptoms from showing up?
Avatar n tn I took two doses of 500 MG Levaquin on consecutive days, then stopped. Now a week later I still have tingling in my hands and arms. Peripheral Neuropathy is a rare adverse reaction to quinolones. I have reported this to the FDA and to McNeil. The waring statement says (may be reversible if treated in time). Another just says irreversible. The 2004 warning from the FDA states: "{the drug} should be discontinued if the patient experiences symptoms of neuropathy . . .
Avatar n tn about them, and he said it was erythema nodosum as a result of an allergic reaction to Levaquin. However, since then I've had minor difficulty breathing. I'm an asthmatic, so that's not abnormal, but still... Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
Avatar n tn Hey Doc, I have had this strange pain in my genital area for about 2 months now. It first came on shortly after a sexual encounter. It was very noticeable pain at first, and kind of eased up but still never left. I saw 3 doctors about it. I found out it is not a hernia, not Chlamydia or ghonnerea, and probably not epidiymitis. I took levaquin, and that didn't kick it.
Avatar f tn I had renal blood work done that came back within normal parameters and have yet to get my stool results back from the lab. My Dr. put me on Levaquin and atropine which i have been taking for 4 days with no improvement in my symptoms. I am now experiencing pain in my lower left abdomen. I aa also losing weight. What tests should I be asking for at this point? Thank you in advance for any information that you may offer.
Avatar m tn Levaquin made me very ill. I have lupus & was given Levaquin for a sinus infection. Big no no. Levaquin can & will give you autoimmune disease symptoms and I already had one. Trust me it is not worth it. After 6 pills my calf muscles began to cramp. Dr. says ibuprofen 600mg a day.. Well its been all downhill from there. I developed full body tendinitis,(couldn't walk) my joints & muscles swelled so bad my nerves were compressed.
Avatar n tn physical examination was normal, rectal examination was normal, and ultrasound showed no abnormalities/masses/swelling. I was on Levaquin for 7 days/500mg and this has not really helped. I am not really sure what to do now. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn 5 or even 100 sometimes. She was taking Levaquin initially to see if there was a bacterial infection, but the antibiotic was giving her even higher fevers - once the antibiotic was stopped after two weeks of usage the fevers over 100 degrees also stopped as did some coughing she was having (the doctors say it is rare but maybe her body was reacting to the Levaquin).
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
