It will cure chlamydia, not gonorrhea.

If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.

You said you had taken levaquin for the prostate exam, and the dose you took would have more than cured chlamydia. If you are still having symptoms, you need to follow up with your doctor, rather than self treat.

I got symptoms that resemble chlamydia or gonorrhea (frequent urination, weird feelin in the tip of my penis) so I took levaquin 750mg tabs once a day for five days. Is that enough levaquin to knock out either of those stds? I'm still gettin the urge to urinate frequently and now I'm wondering could it be some kind of bladder infection? Any help is appreciated greatly.

but why in the bloody hell are you on Levaquin for chlamydia..if you really believe that you did indeed have chlamydia..then number 1 you should have been given a shot of ceftriaxone though most doctors use the 250 mg vial I would have given you a 1 to 2 gram dosage... then you should have been put on a tetracycline antibiotic such as doxycycline... and say given 30 days worth of it ...... that would have knocked chlamydia out or gonorrhea out..

I went into a urologist and was diagnosed with potential prostatitis and was put on a 4 week course of bactrim. I had read that chlamydia and gonorrhea could be the cause of prostatitis. I had a complete STI test done and all came back negative. Panacing i took 1g of Zpack orally then got tested two days later I took another 1g pack. the results came back negetive. Still having the same feeling I took 500mg of Levaquin. Then I read that it was no longer recommended for GC so i took a 250mg shot of Ceftriaxone. Is this enough to kill Chlamydia and Gonorrhea? Could it just be Urthetitis and would these meds take care of that too? Need answers please.

However, levofloxacin (Levaquin) would work against all chlamydia, most gonorrhea, and most of the nonsexually transmitted germs that cause epididymitis. Since this probably isn't an STD problem, this is about as far as this thread can go. You should ask the same questions very directly to your urologist. I hope this helps.

I was prescribed Levaquin 500mg and things cleared up no problem. I had a few recurrent flare-ups with the prostatitis, medication cleared it up within a day or two every time and I finished my prescripstions as necessary, Recently, I had an unprotected sexual encounter with a man, I was the insertive partner and I did not use a condom, something I will never be so stupid about ever again.

thanks. the symptoms i had (pain at the tip of penis) went away after using levaquin (dr called it a prostatitis) then came back 3 months later. i took another 10 days of levaquin, symptoms went away, then came back. took cipro, felt better after 1st day, then symptoms came back 1 week later. any thoughts on why the symptoms go away after using levaquin and cipro (temporarily)?

If exposed to chlamydia, gonnorhea, or syphilis....which meds are most effective....Doxy 100mg/7days or Levaquin 500mg? Any thougts or experience?

I know it is Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, but I was wondering if they can test for any others as well. I know there are other things like trich infections etc. Back in December I got chlamydia. Ive been on azythromycin twice and levaquin as well as suprax for gonorrhea even though I tested negative for it. I have taken two tests since and both have come back negative from gonorrhea and chlamydia. Things just dont feel right down there. I have been to a urologist twice, and he thinks I am okay.

i was then sent to a urologist and everything came back normal beside a large hydrocele. i was prescribed levaquin for 14 days, that seemed to work. now the second part of the question. 2.) i'm not sure of the cause but was diagnosed with NGU - chlamydia and gonnoreah were negative. i felt like these symptoms came on after about 3 days after an encounter with a woman without a condom, i was treated with doxy and cipro.

Ok so i went to the doctors for because i had kidney pain and i my urethra itches constantly my tongue is a whitish color and i have dry mouth, at night i sweat alot in my sleep, my tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia came back negative i also have ahad headaches im worried any ideas what it could be?

I have slight raised swelling around the opening of my penis that seems to flare up after oral and vaginal sex. I have recently been treated for epididymitis with Levaquin and had been on Doxycycline for acne for two months prior to this. I know those test do not test for Chlamydia or Gonorrhea, but would if had showed bacteria if I had any one of those diseases? What is the likelihood that I might have that? I used a condom so I was positive I was being safe. What is the likelihood that I might have got infected? Should I worry about HIV? I have no discharge……..

about this he did a pelvic exam and he sent me home with two different kind of antibiotics (flagyl and levaquin) The meds were pretty much unbearable and I did some more reasearch and I found out that people who took levaquin were having the same kind of reactions as me, so....I stopped taking them. The symptoms seemed to go away so I figured it was gone, it came back about two weeks later I returned to the doc and he gave me the two meds again. I took them and the symptoms went away.
