I had hives as a reaction, also had palpitations, and anxiety. And it was also on the 4th day! called the oncall doctor and we switched it up to zithromycin or however you spell it.

when i woke up one morning and my lips were swollen and i had been waking up with hives every am. My g.p referred me to an allergist and he did several tests (lupus etc along with the anti thryoid antibodies )and I already see and endrocrinologist i went to the endo crinologist after the allergist found the antibodies and she has changed my thryoid meds to synthroid 112mcg. I would like to get off the allergra, but the hives are so bad if i forget to take it I am miserable.

I have the rash/hives on both cheeks, very itchy, red, bumpy and is spreading, and its hot. I have no fever. I started taking Macrobid Yesterday for my UTI. I am already allergic to another anti biotic called levaquin, it swelled my tongue. Now this is happening! Very irritating and unconfortable. I am not taking another dose til I can call my Dr in the morning!! This forum helped me tremendously!

Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.

You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.

s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?

Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems. I would recommend that you take the Levaquin with dinner tonight (it is supposed to be taken with food) and then enjoy the evening with your husband so you can both monitor your symptoms. If you have the difficulty breathing again, you should go to an ER. Also, if you are an asthmatic, you probably just need to use your inhaler on a regular basis while you get over this infection.

Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.

I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.

I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.

I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!

At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.

Good afternoon. I'll try to make this brief. In Nov'15 I had a bout w/frequent urination and was prescribed Levaquin & phenazopyridine. The very next day I broke out in hives/rashes/welts all over my body (neck, waistline, back, arms, wrists, legs, ankles). I went back to the dr a few days later and was prescribed Bactrim & Flomax. The frequent urination went away but the rashes have persisted and are recurring.

In the past I have had mild allergic reactions to antibiotics which mostly included breaking out in hives all over my body. I am just a little worried.....is it too late for the reaction to occur? Would it have occurred already since it has over 24 hours? Also, if I was to have any other side effects, when would they show up? I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin. The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me). Ever since the second cycle of levaquin I have had the feeling of my throat swelling up, and a sensation of a lump whenever I swallow. I can swallow and breath fine, it just feels like tightness, like I am being choked.

I have two episodes of what seemed to be an allergic reaction to something. My back legs and neck got extremely itchy and my neck and forearms became red. The first time was at work, the second was at a friends house. I took benadryl and it quickly passed. Additionally, I am currently employed at a petstore where I handle animals daily. The levaquin has had very minimal impact overall and I wish he’d given me more cipro and a longer cycle. Has anyone had a similar case where you relapses quickly? If so, were you given a new med and did that work? Were you given the same med? Any other ideas or insights would be helpful.

My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.

Went back after 2 weeks and the dr said the bladder infection was gone, but I had to keep on with the Levaquin as I was showing signs of pneumonia and he took another blood test. On the 3rd week of Levaquin, the dr called and said I was highly allergic to Levaquin and get to his office immediately. He gave me a new antibiotic shot and within an hour I was very ill. The next morning I woke up with a fever, unable to breathe and move my left side.

I have levaquin for an ear infection and I had two refills. So i just filled. them. Wouldn't it just make sense to take it to its completion?
