Levaquin and fatigue

Common Questions and Answers about Levaquin and fatigue

levaquin

Avatar f tn ve been on Levaquin twice. Ugh!!! I have severe joint pain and fatigue both times. I have a really high pain tolerance and was allergic to my other options at the time, so I toughed out the 10 days both times. I don't recommend that and my doctor has promised to figure out an alternative for future infections. The first time, the serious fatigue and joint pain lasted about 3 weeks total (including the 10 days). The second time it was about 5 weeks.
1994720 tn?1352742233 I just wanted to update that the tendon issues and every other weird symptom under the sun is from fluoroquinolone toxicity from Levaquin. I was given IV Levaquin and steroids for my bout with sepsis and this is the result. I still have tendon issues, horrible neuropathy, and met several others with consistently high b12 and other b vitamin levels with FQ toxicity.
Avatar n tn Recently I saw my MD and she ordered several blood tests and MRI to look for MS and other peripheral neuropathy causes. All blood tests and the MRI were normal. I think that I have had a severe drug reaction and do you think the shooting pain is Levaquin related? I took Ibuprofen for the tendon pain for 2 years starting the day after I finished the Levaquin 3 years ago. Did this increase the nerve damage? I have no balance or muscular strength problems.
Avatar f tn Hi. I have been experiencing some really disturbing set of symptoms. I was a healthy and happy 22 year old and now feel almost crippled. I have peripheral neurpathy, horrible anxiety, deppression, nausea, weight loss. I took Levaquin for a UTI infection in November 2009 and didn't have symptoms then. I also had a susequent yeast infection. Do anybody have any idea what could be causing thIs? Thank you and God Bless.
Avatar f tn Evening rise in temperature is generally due to anemia, diabetes, hypothyroid states, overwork, stress and fatigue. It is also seen in diseases like tuberculosis. Since your stomach too feels queasy, there is a chance that you have inflammation of the bowels as seen in IBS, colitis or maybe even gluten or lactose intolerance. Discuss this with your doctor and try and get investigated. Most labs have a fever panel to rule out most diseases that can cause persistent low grade fever.
Avatar m tn Back of my throat is swollen. unable to swallow other than water, yogurt and warm/cold fluids for over a week. No strep throat. No tonsils. Any ideas what it can be? I have mucus in throat, nasal and left ear. Regular Dr. put me on Levaquin, Nexum and Tussicaps but doesn't know what's causing problem.
Avatar f tn You need to write a letter and send it certified mail. Pain in the joints and elsewhere are common side effects of Levaquin. Most times this wears off (the good news), but there are instances of long-term damage from this particular antibiotic (that's the bad news). Statistics are on your side.
Avatar n tn s say that the doctor calls me before the weekend and says that I did indeed have a bacterial infection that the Levaquin treated and all other tests came back negative (this is a hypothetical situation obviously). I started taking it today (Monday); by the time Saturday rolls around, I will have taken my 6/7 dose. My question is this: will I still be able to transmit any infection that I may have right now? Or will the Levaquin have made it so I am no longer contagious?
Avatar f tn Many antibioitics cause reflux. Levaquin is a strong one and is known to cause problems. I would recommend that you take the Levaquin with dinner tonight (it is supposed to be taken with food) and then enjoy the evening with your husband so you can both monitor your symptoms. If you have the difficulty breathing again, you should go to an ER. Also, if you are an asthmatic, you probably just need to use your inhaler on a regular basis while you get over this infection.
Avatar m tn Have severe joint pain in both knees and shoulders. Hurts to walk, and cannot move my arms above my head. Stopped taking Levaquin on Monday and is now Wednesay and pain is still unbelievable. Does anyone know how long the pain will last and is there any way to get the pain to go away sooner? My doctor said I should feel better in a couple of days.
Avatar m tn I was on levaquin a couple years ago, it made me very sick to my stomach and gave me some joint pain. I didn't realize until after I took it that it can damage tendons and I read it can also cause hernias. I would never take it again. That's just my opinion, I would also ask for something else.
Avatar f tn I went to the dr. today and was dx with a UTI. I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me. This discussion is related to Levaquin for Chlamydia/Gonorrhea.
Avatar n tn The typical symptoms of prostatitis are fever, pelvic, testicle, or rectal pain, frequent and painful urination and ejaculation and incomplete emptying of bladder. In addition to the antibiotics, use medications to help relieve bothersome symptoms, such as alpha blockers to relieve urinary symptoms and anti-inflammatory medications for pain. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn If you have been taking levaquin, do not have a urine chlamydia test. Levaquin cures chlamydia and would make the test negative, even if you were infected recently. At this point, there is no point in having any more chlamydia testing at all.
793305 tn?1493925518 I would trust the pharmacist. I have had levaquin and synthroid and it has been fine. They have website that you can search the reaction of medications with each other. Just google it. Good luck!
Avatar m tn Well, if you goal is to help somebody, you have done it with me. Well done and I am very grateful. Now we must do something about your user name...how about, "Healthy and Hearty." Gee, 48 hours without flecainide and I'm still on sinus rhythm. I feel like hell with this ear infection and the Levaquin, but so far, so good. I am keeping my journal daily and I won't bore you with a day to day synopsis, but I would like to help you in return. I am a good listener.
Avatar n tn At this point I still had a bit of swelling in the testicle and spoke with my urologist and was prescribed another course of levaquin. ive taken it for 7 days now and see that i am still having the clear discharge and have some discomfort. also, i was also treated for a mycoplasma pnemonia infection about 3 weeks prior and was given clarithomycin for 10 days. i went to a new doctor, because I just moved out of state, and am waiting the results of a urinalysis.
1373852 tn?1307843048 I would like to know if drugs such as levaquin and cipro and the medicines they use to keep a person in a medical coma can cause fibromyalgia or symptoms like it that persist once the person is recovered from the original illness.I had a bad asthma attack nine months ago,was put in a medical coma for respiratory failure because of it.I have had every test or almost.cbc, autoimmune, hiv, hep c,b,a.I have had emg, eeg, nerve conduction, brain mri, cervical spine.
Avatar n tn I went back to doctor and went on another cycle of levaquin. The swelling still remained and the spot remained too, until I took a Q tip and wiped it away myself (lol gross, but it was bothering me). Ever since the second cycle of levaquin I have had the feeling of my throat swelling up, and a sensation of a lump whenever I swallow. I can swallow and breath fine, it just feels like tightness, like I am being choked.
Avatar m tn but my symptoms were not gone, after a month i felt abit better but symptoms were urethral pain, testicular pain, knee and ankle pain, dry cough and itchy lungs, extreme pressure in head above ears, headache, fatigue. all stds and cultures came negative even after 5 months except semen culture which showed staphylococcus aureus resistant to almost all antibiotics except vancomycin.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed six 500mg Levaquin tablets to treat Strep Throat and a potential sinus infection. I only took 4 of the 6 pills since the side effects were getting to much to handle. I started on 3/12/2010 to 3/15/2010. Here were the side effects: -nausea -no appetite -headaches -dizziness -diarrhea -anxiety attacks -confusion, like you don't feel like yourself After I stopped taking it, my nausea and appetite returned gradually in the following two days.
Avatar n tn The levaquin has had very minimal impact overall and I wish he’d given me more cipro and a longer cycle. Has anyone had a similar case where you relapses quickly? If so, were you given a new med and did that work? Were you given the same med? Any other ideas or insights would be helpful.
Avatar f tn Hey all, I've run the gamut of all the specialists I can find, and I'm hoping maybe I can find some answers here. I've been on a 6 month journey trying to nail down a diagnosis, and I'm sure a lot of you are familiar with how frustrating that can be! My initial symptoms presented back in January--extreme fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, pins and needles in my hands & feet, some IBS, headaches, and shooting pains throughout my body.
