Levalbuterol treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Levalbuterol treatment

xopenex

Avatar n tn Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) is a short acting inhaled medicine, a rescue medicine, with fewer side effects than similar medicines used for the relief of acute asthma symptoms. It is not a medicine well-suited for long term, sustained asthma control. There are other classes of asthma medicines, called controller medicines and these do not have the same excitatory side effects.

Avatar n tn Finally, the heart doctor took over my treatment and prescribed entresto and a strong inhaler to be used when my breathing becomes labored. I am told my heart becomes overworked, cannot pump properly and the lungs fill with fluid. I can't accurately describe the procedure. I have COPD and CHF. Lungs and heart! You might want to have your heart checked just in case.
Avatar f tn For starters, I'd see your doctor and let them know you are having exercise induced asthma problems. May I ask what controller asthma meds are? (Inhaler & pills, aside from albuterol or levalbuterol.) Prednisone should be a last resort anymore. Leukotriene inhibitors such as montelukast (Singulair), and Advair (diskus or HFA inhaler) are better choices for controller medications. There's other options, too, I'm just mentioning the two I use.

I was also getting facial hives, but they did not itch, I did not mention that to my doctor and from my reading I wonder if I should have. For the hives I was prescribed Zyrtec 10mg. Previously I had been taking Benadryl, but it was making me very tired and causing me to sleepwalk/sleep eat. Before that I took Loratidine 10mg as needed for allergy symptoms.

Avatar f tn That is really more of a collection of lung conditions where the lungs are too reactive to harmless substances. It is important to rule out other reactive airway issues to get the propper treatment. There are other conditions that cause broncho-constriction besides asthma. Either way though, with your reactions after exercise, it sounds like a fast acting broncho dilater (some form of albuterol - Proventil, Porair, Maxair, Xopenex, Ventolin) might be a good idea.
Avatar m tn Sorry new to forum and I didn't know ... Anyway I messed up. I am starting treatment sometime this month and am curious about side affects.

Avatar f tn Do most people start treatment right away or do you wait if you are not symptomatic? I keep having these moment where I need to know all the answer and all the next steps. And then for a moment I'm ok. Is it better to get my body in shape before undergoing treatment (kind of like preparing for battle). I all ready have aches and pains and am over-weight. Would treatment intensify this?

Avatar f tn After I found out I had HepC, I got tested again, had the liver biopsy and was offered to start treatment. But, my viral load is only 160,000, and my liver showed only slight cell inflamation. The nurse said I should start while I feel good. I wonder if the viral load was low becasue before having the biopsy and viral load count, I spent a year taking high doses of milk thistle and basil, and plenty of vitamins. I think my viral load count is relatively low.
