Levalbuterol inhalers

Common Questions and Answers about Levalbuterol inhalers

xopenex

Avatar n tn Xopenex® Inhalation Solution (levalbuterol) is a short acting inhaled medicine, a rescue medicine, with fewer side effects than similar medicines used for the relief of acute asthma symptoms. It is not a medicine well-suited for long term, sustained asthma control. There are other classes of asthma medicines, called controller medicines and these do not have the same excitatory side effects.
Avatar n tn Drs will typically give infants nebulizer treatments with a mask vs. an inhaler. Inhalers are usually more given to older toddlers and children. Does this help?

Avatar n tn This is my first pregnancy and I have asthma does anyone know what types of inhalers are safe to use while pregnant?
Avatar f tn For starters, I'd see your doctor and let them know you are having exercise induced asthma problems. May I ask what controller asthma meds are? (Inhaler & pills, aside from albuterol or levalbuterol.) Prednisone should be a last resort anymore. Leukotriene inhibitors such as montelukast (Singulair), and Advair (diskus or HFA inhaler) are better choices for controller medications. There's other options, too, I'm just mentioning the two I use.

Avatar m tn Using steroid inhalers will certainly not depress your immune system, as very little can even make it systemically (into your blood) into your system. The steroid acts topically on the surface of your airways. You would have to ingest oral steroids, such as prednisone, in sufficient quantities for an extended time period to affect your immune system. I would not worry about getting the swine flu because of your inhalers.
2206935 tn?1373638605 No you are not doing wrong if you do not take your inhalers. You have been prescribed with inhalers and it is your choice if you use them or not. It depends on your symptoms and how badly you get attacks. You may find in the winter months your asthma may be triggered off again, and you may need the use of your inhalers. Do your doctors' practise have a clinic to check people with asthma how they are doing?
Avatar f tn Bronchitis, pneumonia and pleurisy that was so painful for 3 months. I was doing okay before the inhalers. At least not sick all the time. Then, I went off the inhalers. Personally, I said heck with them. And knock on wood, I have been doing pretty good without them. No more constant illness. I still use a rescue inhaler. But, I go for awhile and don't even need the rescue inhaler.
Avatar f tn I finally got a diagnoses of Bronchial Ashma. I was never able to tolerate steroid inhalers. I have now been put on Spiriva. I have read that it doesn't usually work with ashma. Is it normal to have shortness of breath daily with ashma. I quit smoking when this all started two years ago and have not touched a cigarette since. I was hoping to feel better. I have never had such breathing problems as I have these last two years.
678431 tn?1227554311 I've been told to have slight asthma, and have been given inhalers and medications. I absolutely love cardio. workouts: fast roller skating, running, jogging, and distance biking. So, I really rely on my inhaler. My friend's mom says though that her mother's inhaler had steriods in them, like it comes with albuteral or somethin'. Is this just mythical, or am I becoming victim of false advertisement? (I'd rather just take it easy than that, if possible.
3086858 tn?1340852861 I am still on a Levalbuterol oral inhaler. I was also getting facial hives, but they did not itch, I did not mention that to my doctor and from my reading I wonder if I should have. For the hives I was prescribed Zyrtec 10mg. Previously I had been taking Benadryl, but it was making me very tired and causing me to sleepwalk/sleep eat. Before that I took Loratidine 10mg as needed for allergy symptoms.
1398693 tn?1343684738 my chest gets heavy off and on throughout the day I take Combivent Respimat 20-100 MCG/ACT IN AERS, Levalbuterol HCL 1.25 MG/3ML IN NEBU 2X a day before Advair, Singular 10 MG PO TABS, Advair Diskus 500-50 MCG/Dose in AEPB 2X a day, Qvar 80 MCG/ACT IN AERS 2 puffs 2X a day for my severe asthma and I do get relief from the Combivent only to have the chest heaviness come back hours later.
Avatar n tn I am worried about the availability of Ventolin inhalers. Some months i may need to use more than one Ventolin inhalers based on my asthma triggers. Will it be a problem to get 2 ventolin inhaler prescription per month in US.
Avatar m tn A lot of people have complained about the inhalers since they changed the ingriedients because of environmental factors, what a joke, there was Absolutely NO need to do that, there reasoning makes no sence at all! Why Was Albuterol Changed From a CFC to an HFA Propellant? Hydrofluoroalkane, or HFA, inhalers use a different form of propellant compared to the older CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) inhalers. CFCs have been found to damage the ozone layer and cause other environmental problems.
Avatar n tn I do not want to use inhalers with steroids because I have type 2 diabetes and because I do not like the way they make me feel. Plain albuterol inhalers work but make me very shaky and do not last long. Is there a reason for this resistance to theophylline? Is it just because it is an old drug?
Avatar f tn I am on steroid inhalers for Asthma and allergies. My physicians insisted I stay on those as Asthma can sometimes worsen during TX. I have 3 weeks left of a 48 wk treatment and asthma has been fine, no worse, however have continued to use my inhalers. I cleared at 7 weeks and will know soon if still clear.
746512 tn?1388807580 Do you take allergy tablets? I tend to find that they ease my asthma so they might help you as well, even though i dont find that they eliminate the problem. I tend to find that the inhalers last for longer if I'm taking the tablets. This could save you some money.
678431 tn?1227554311 I use Albuterol Inhalers for my asthma and I've been recently having some trouble with 'em. My mom and I share the same dosages, which I find really weird since I just merely have asthma and she has emphysema as well. But, I've brought that to the attention of m doctor but she still said I needed the same dosage. Plus, it makes me really jittery and shaky.
