Avatar f tn I have been on letrozole for 5 months now and nothing.I had a miscarriage in march and have been taking this since march. The only side effects I have had are hot flashes in the beginning but I do get stabbing headaches occasionally.Has anyone else had to go from letrozole to something else that helped get them pregnant.
1190279 tn?1324936257 Hi! Doctors will prescribe either clomid or letrozole to assist with ovulation. There's two main differences: it doesn't have anti-estrogenic side effects like clomid; and although studies have proven letrozole is an effective fertility drug it hasn't been approved by the FDA yet for fertility use, thus isn't covered by insurance (beware it's very expensive). Letrozole was developed to treat estrogen-sensitive breast cancers.
1287560 tn?1272216521 Have asked before but want to hear of any positive stories using letrozole(femara) to help with ovulation, this drug is primarily a drug used to help with breast cancer and is still in research stage for fertility problems, my dr is talking with other gp's because is not happy to prescribe it to me.
Avatar f tn Hi. Just to clarify matters: Femara is the brand name of the drug letrozole. Since you've already taken this drug and it has caused you severe joint pain, it's really not advisable for you to be taking it again. In the MA-17 clinical trial, Femara/letrozole was intended to be given for a duration of 5 years after Tamoxifen. However, patients in that study were only treated for an average of two years before the study was unblinded.
Avatar f tn I have just been diagnosed with breast cancer and have been offered a trial on Letrozole before and after surgery along with radiotherapy. I would appreciate knowing any side effects when taken along with Lithium and mood swings suffered if any.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has used letrozole to get pregnant and if so did you have any side effects while taking it? My doc just prescribed it and I am just curious about it's effectiveness..
1287560 tn?1272216521 Hello, has anyone not had much success with clomid to help ovulation so tried a different drug i.e letrozole(femura) instead.
6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, PCOD occurs due to imbalances in the hormonal system which makes ovulation irregular and causing other changes in the body. Drug like Clomiphene is used as first line drug for treatment of PCOS related infertility. It has been observed that approximately 60-70 percent ovulate after taking Clomiphene. Along with Clomiphene lifestyle modifications like weight control, exercise are very important to improve the success rates of Clomiphene.
1204794 tn?1300704113 I used to have 9 to 16 days of bleeding before letrozole! After being on letrozole, how many days are you bleeding? This is my second time with Letrozole and I had 9 days of bleeding the first time. By Day 5 I'm ready to quit letrozole because it makes my bones a bit achy, my breasts are super tender and less firm, and overall I feel like I constantly have a buzz that you get with one glass of wine.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever used letrozole to help become pregnant? If so any side effects or anything you want to tell would be helpful.. thanks!
Avatar n tn I finally broke down after 26 mo of TTC, 8 clomid cycles, 2 IUIs and trigger shots and went to the RE for advice. After AF shows in 2 weeks or so - we will start on letrozole with CD3 blood work and U/S and then do another IUI. If that is unsuccessful - we will do IVF. Has anyone done letrozole vs clomid? side affects? BFPs?

Avatar m tn Hi There! On my first round of Letrozole(Femara) and no ovulating is showing. Anyone not ovulate the first month, but then start next couple months, or is this med not like that?? I don't feel the best on it, but will try anything. Had our first little guy a year ago with in vitro. We can't afford that route again, so hoping we are blessed by just doing prescription helpers. But I don't want to keep taking something that makes me feel awful if it isn't going to kick in.
691236 tn?1311199974 I had 2 follicles. My RE now wants me to try Letrozole this time around again with the trigger and IUI. Has anyone tried this drug and what were the differences from clomid? I believe this is the same as femara? Any advice/knowledge you have would be great. Thanks!
Avatar m tn I have seen lot of posts and spent hours on the forums wherever I found mention of advanced bone age/Anastrozole/Letrozole. It seems there are quite a few posts under Pediatric Endo forum but not able to find any answers if any parents tried Anastrozole/Letrozole and what has been their experience regarding delaying bone age and side effects. I will appreciate if any parent with experience of using Anastrozole for their kids may share their experience.
Avatar m tn Gave me symptoms. I am now on letrozole. Also experiencing symptoms. Will letrozole keep this cancer away. Is there a smaller does than 2.5 of letrozole that I can take.
Avatar n tn Some cells are strongly ER positive, some only mildly so, and some are even ER negative (do not contain estrogen receptors). When exposed to an aromatase inhibitor like letrozole, those cells which are strongly ER positive are very susceptible to the effects of this drug and either die off or stop multiplying. However, those cells which are only mildly ER positive or are ER negative are only slightly affected by letrozole or not at all.
6889053 tn?1386025503 Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month, finally miss a cycle, and it's negative?
1773487 tn?1331540488 It has been approved for treating breast cancer, but it also helps produce and mature follicles. So although not yet technically approved as a fertility drug, it very much works as one; and there's definitely no reason to be scared to take it. Lots of women on here have taken our are currently taking letrozole (same as femara). Best of luck this month!

Avatar n tn We will be starting a drug called Letrezole, and from what the doctor has told me and what I have read it sounds like exactly what he needs which is more time. Letrezole delays bone maturation, but has been widely use for this purpose to date, so it is quite difficult to find information on it. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who might already be taking the drug that can advise regarding any side effects, and can advise if it worked well for their child.
