i take the leflunomide (arava) but also take pills for the reflux, which does help. I take renitidine i believe it is called. I found it worked pretty good for the swelling myself. I am also on the Embrel, but still do not have R.A under control. I just wanted to say that the arava was the best drug i have taken up until i was put on the embrel. I live in B.
He has been on a combination of Arava 20 mg ( Hydroxychloroquine) and Plaquenil (Leflunomide) . He has been going severly downhill since January and has lost 40 pounds, has constant mucous drainage that he chokes on especially after meals, and has severe shortness of breath. Can these symptoms be a result of the medications he is taking? Is it safe for him to take two synthetic DMARDS at the same time?
Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. Biological response modifiers like etanercept, leflunomide (used less often), adalimumab, or infliximab can be added in consultation with doctor.

That was the start of my (disease)? Went to an orthopedist. Got cortisone injection, gave me anti-inflammatories, sent me home told me to rest. Pain never went away, but it subsided a bit. Pain flared up again after about a month, ortho referred me to rheumatologist. More anit-inflammatories for a while.

I have felt awful for some time now and seem to have so many thyroid symptoms. My levels of tSh have always been 1.2, 2.3... Last year I was feeling awful and it was up to 4.5. My doctor did not see this as a big deal. I am once again feeling INCREDIBLY anxious, not sleeping, hoarse, .... The list goes on... Went for bloodwork yesterday. TSH is 3.7 and Free T4 is 1.2. What does this mean? My mother had thyroid cancer a couple of years ago and had hers removed.
My hcg levels yesturday where 124 and when I I took the pregnancy test it said 1 - 2 weeks. I just took another Clear Blue now and it says 2 - 3 weeks. I take it that would mean my levels where going up. I know I have to wait till I have my bloods done tomorrow but I was thinking this is good sign. What do you think.

I have been on meds for 6 weeks now and just had blood work done. My TSH levels were at 23.1 and so they increased my meds to 150mcg daily. Is this normal??

hi i have just read your post, i myself was on reacide for 5 years this year in march i woke up with numbness had an mri done a lesion was discovered at c3 area had 5 days of steroids stopped remicide imediately then in july more numbness i couldnt feel my legs at all for 20mins when i woke up 1 morning then the feeling came back another mri discovered another lesion at t11 more 5 days steroids lumbar puncture and diagnosis of ms, before i went on remacide i had to sign a paper in this it stated
Hi there. I had severe chest pains last week and was admitted to hospital. i was assured that at 38 years old and female, it would most likely be nothing too serious but 12 hours after the pains started a blood test revealed raised Toponin levels.. I had an angiogram which didn't reveal anything too serious, they said that the clot busting drugs must have flushed away the problem. However i am now on lots of tablets each day to prevent another clot forming.

It doesn't suggest twins, but it doesn't preclude them either. You can't tell from hCG levels if it's a singleton or multiples.
