i take the leflunomide (arava) but also take pills for the reflux, which does help. I take renitidine i believe it is called. I found it worked pretty good for the swelling myself. I am also on the Embrel, but still do not have R.A under control. I just wanted to say that the arava was the best drug i have taken up until i was put on the embrel. I live in B.
He has been on a combination of Arava 20 mg ( Hydroxychloroquine) and Plaquenil (Leflunomide) . He has been going severly downhill since January and has lost 40 pounds, has constant mucous drainage that he chokes on especially after meals, and has severe shortness of breath. Can these symptoms be a result of the medications he is taking? Is it safe for him to take two synthetic DMARDS at the same time?
Though non steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (NSAID) and steroids are the gold standard of treatment, more emphasis should be laid on physical and occupational therapy, rest, heat pads and use of assistive devices for walking. Biological response modifiers like etanercept, leflunomide (used less often), adalimumab, or infliximab can be added in consultation with doctor.

At the age of 33, one day I was fine, healthy etc. Went to bed and the next morning woke up with excruciating pain deep inside my r/knee area. Couldn't get out of bed or walk. That was the start of my (disease)? Went to an orthopedist. Got cortisone injection, gave me anti-inflammatories, sent me home told me to rest. Pain never went away, but it subsided a bit. Pain flared up again after about a month, ortho referred me to rheumatologist. More anit-inflammatories for a while.

hi was just reading your post there i have severe psoriatic arthritis deformed fingers and toes all my fingers have seized completely with arthritis and some are bent over to the side , i was on remacide for 5 years and it made a dramatic change to my life from severe pain to none what so eber i had an iv every 7 weeks of remacide until march this year i woke up with numbness in my left leg which over a few days travelled up my side and face went for an mri and a few months on was diagnosed with
hi i have just read your post, i myself was on reacide for 5 years this year in march i woke up with numbness had an mri done a lesion was discovered at c3 area had 5 days of steroids stopped remicide imediately then in july more numbness i couldnt feel my legs at all for 20mins when i woke up 1 morning then the feeling came back another mri discovered another lesion at t11 more 5 days steroids lumbar puncture and diagnosis of ms, before i went on remacide i had to sign a paper in this it stated
Cymbalta, Ozempic, and Leflunomide. This combo gave me the most relief I have ever had.
But she also had been making charting/medical record inaccuracies for years. Literal. Years. SO MANY THINGS she charted as diagnosed with no supporting evidence or even telling me.
Then she made several errors in ordering lab work for me. I had to go have blood drawn 3 times in 2 weeks for the things she said she wanted to look at...AFTER I called 6 times trying to straighten it all out.
Within 30 minutes I had 102 fever, severe chills/body aches, so that drug is out. Now he switched me to Arava (Leflunomide). My question is what serious side effects have people had with this one and especially with people who have bad gastro issues.
thanks, I know that the doctors hands are tied a lot of times by the insurance companies on what they can prescribe and when.
