Avatar m tn Dorzolamide HCl/Timolol Maleate and 2: Latanoprost . These are all Ophthalmic solutions. Can the cataract surgery itself, or, the eye drop drugs I am taking as listed above, cause dry eye?..and if so, what would you recommend I take, if anything, to prevent this. Thanks.
Avatar m tn yes the elevated pressure in the eye is treated with glaucoma drops like travoprost and timolol drops,combigan,hypersol-5 solution and latanoprost ophthalmic solution......instead of all this the pressure in the eye goes up at an interval of 3-4 months approximately.
6218685 tn?1379633270 I was misdiagnosed as having pressure in my eyes and was given Latanoprost eye drops which I used for 5 days and my intuition told me to stop it and get a second and third opinion which I did. I then found out I did not need to be on Latanoprost and my eye pressure was normal. I am only 45 and never had a problem with dark circles under my eyes which developed two days after I started using the eye drops.
Avatar f tn There should be significant visual recovery after a week and by one month it should be pretty well healed. My doctors do not like to use latanoprost after cataract surgery because it may increase the incidence of CME (macular edema). Dr. O.
Avatar n tn Good afternoon Dr Hagen Will I escape corneal damage/disease if I use Zioptan rather than latanoprost? Will there also be less irritation? (My insurance will pay 80% of the cost, so it is affordable for me). Are there are disadvantages to using it?

Avatar f tn They said that my cornea is really thick and my optic nerves are oddly shaped, but there is nothing to worry about at this time. I was prescribed latanoprost which I took and my eye pressure had decreased as it should at my follow up visit in January. Since then, I have undergone some heart testing due to having palpitations and I ended up going off of the latanoprost, with permission from my doctor. I haven't noticed a large difference in my eyes until recently.
Avatar m tn Since you have recently had surgery we feel you need to ask the surgeon about this. This is a generalization. Trouble opening the eyes in the morning often means they are drying out during sleep. Don't sleep under fan or have air blowing across eye. latanoprost often dries eyes out during sleep. You can ask your doctor about this. We have our patients put latanoprost or their glaucoma drop in about 30 minutes before they go to bed.
514349 tn?1272801633 Lately I've had very hard and difficult to pass stools. My diet and activity level haven't had any major changes or has my medications except that I am now using Latanoprost eye drops once a day. I tried using Docusate and Smooth Move senna tea for relief, but they didn't make any difference.
Avatar n tn OK, great! You've removed the doubt. I am a worrywart. She also said it was up to me whether to start latanoprost. My IOP was 19/21, which she said wasn't that high but the low nocturnal dips in my BP were concerning. And also the suspicious nerves. So I guess I ought to take the drops ...
Avatar f tn I paid $250 for a medication I usually pay $40 for and on checking that was the reason. There is a generic latanoprost but its not as strong or as long acting.
Avatar n tn Last week a neurologist diagnosed me an ophthalmic migraine, he said that there is nothing I could do and that I should get used to. I was wandering if the symptoms fits since I don't have any headaches. I apologize for my mistakes, I don't talk much english. I would really appreciate your help.
Avatar f tn Diagnosised as open-angle glaucoma. I use latanoprost drops which successfully control the pressure. (Last measured at 13 to 14) My opthalmologist has said that lens replacement may alleviate the pressure. I would not need to use the eye drops afterwards. What is your opionion? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes and prescribed eye drops to take 3x daily for the rest of my life. These eye drops are 1) Latanoprost and 2) Dorzolamide/timolol. A few weeks after taking these eye drops I notice a large rise in blood pressure (top and bottom numbers)..with my bottom number around 100. Can this be caused by the eye drop medicine?
Avatar f tn She prescribe me a ciprofloxacin hydrochloride ophthalmic solution, 0.3% and Erythromycin Ophthalmic Ointment USP, 0.5%(sterile) apply ointment 1 times a day to use, follow up with her everyday. I used both prescription for 5 days, but then I switch to another ophthalmology office, he said change medication don't used the medication that previous Dr prescript to me. Start using Tobramycin and Dexamethasone Ophthalmic Suspension USP, 0.3%/0.
Avatar m tn RE no damage, LE OCT scans show 1 area or damage, moderate diagnosis. For 12 years I was stable on latanoprost. Last 2 years pressure keeps rising, tried different drops, ALT, recently cataract and stent surgery. I am 66, with another 20 years or so to live, wondering long term prognosis for disease today? Most studies I found were older, and indicated 10% risk of blindness.
412909 tn?1211069559 In a situation like yours the great number of these problems are forms of ocular or eye or ophthalmic migraine (often do not have headaches) these are often hormonally driven. Use the search, topics and archive features to look up the extended discussions of ophthalmic migraine. See an Eye MD for a baseline eye exam. Find one at www.aao.
Avatar f tn However, your daughter may have experienced the temporary (20 minutes or so) of an ophthalmic migraine. The experience is called a scintillating actions. It may and often does occur without the headache. Migraine headaches usually occur insensitivity to light (photophobia.) They frequently run in family's and can occur early in life. If you do some research and discuss it with your doctor it may help. An ophthalmic migraine has very diagnostic characteristics. Good luck.
Avatar m tn t good, my ophthalmologist told me I may have to add another eye drop (I take latanoprost and dorzolamide+timolol now) or try SLT. IOP readings the last few years of 18 or less. However since my right eye glaucoma may have been due to an eye trauma from 40 years ago might that reduce the chance of SLT success?
Avatar f tn I went back to the same ophthalmic surgeon here in Houston who performed my Lasik in January 2009 when I noticed rapidly decreasing vision in my right eye. The surgeon and his head Optometrist in his practice were pushing for me to have surgery the following week in my right eye and utilize a Acrysof ReSTOR IOL. They were also adamant that I also have the Acrysof ReSTOR IOL implanted into my left eye a week later following the right eye surgery.
Avatar f tn A month after cataract operation I got occlusion of ophthalmic artery with a loss of peripheral vision very close to central vision. No reason for this event was found. I am scared, because my vision on the eye is loosing contrast vision and I am not sure about the future. Only explanation of my ophthalmologist is the operation trauma and therefore the event will not happen again. Anyway I am scared of blindness, because my left eye was always worse than my right eye.
915277 tn?1252573113 While having a CT w/Infusion for swelling in my Parotid gland (salivary gland between ear & jaw on the face) an Ophthalmic Artery Aneurysm was found on the left side of my brain, it is 4mm. Went to a neurosurgeon for evaluation and he said that because of it's small size and the fact that it was not bubbling out (was smooth) we would not do surgery, but, would keep a close eye on it...CT angio's every six months.
