Avatar f tn There should be significant visual recovery after a week and by one month it should be pretty well healed. My doctors do not like to use latanoprost after cataract surgery because it may increase the incidence of CME (macular edema). Dr. O.
Avatar n tn However, it is my very low blood pressure that concerns my GS the most. I am still only a glaucoma suspect, and hopefully the latanoprost will keep it that way. My GS is not one to freely offer information and doesn't like answering questions either, so you've been an immense help.
6218685 tn?1379633270 I do not think that the dark circles are the result of Latanoprost. It usually takes weeks of use for the circles to develop, and they do disappear if the drug is stopped. Since yours have persisted, I do not believe that Latanoprost is the culprit. See your ophthalmologist for an evaluation. Also, intraocular pressures can fluctuate widely during the day, and may be completely "normal" at times in people who truly have glaucoma.
Avatar n tn Hello Dr Hagen. I saw a glaucoma specialist yesterday and she didn't even dilate my eyes. How can she clear me of glaucoma and say I am still only a suspect if she didn't have a good look? I did a Humphrey visual field test and had an OCT. She also checked my angles and pressures and corneal thickness. Also, does an OCT check that the retina is OK as well as the optic nerve? Thank you!
Avatar m tn RE no damage, LE OCT scans show 1 area or damage, moderate diagnosis. For 12 years I was stable on latanoprost. Last 2 years pressure keeps rising, tried different drops, ALT, recently cataract and stent surgery. I am 66, with another 20 years or so to live, wondering long term prognosis for disease today? Most studies I found were older, and indicated 10% risk of blindness.
Avatar m tn We have our patients put latanoprost or their glaucoma drop in about 30 minutes before they go to bed. Then at bed time we have them use a lubricating gel such as Genteal Gel, Refresh PM, Refresh Liquigel. It needs to say "gel" as its thick enough to keep eyes from drying out all night.
Avatar m tn I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma in both eyes and prescribed eye drops to take 3x daily for the rest of my life. These eye drops are 1) Latanoprost and 2) Dorzolamide/timolol. A few weeks after taking these eye drops I notice a large rise in blood pressure (top and bottom numbers)..with my bottom number around 100. Can this be caused by the eye drop medicine?
6218685 tn?1379633270 I was misdiagnosed as having pressure in my eyes and was given Latanoprost eye drops which I used for 5 days and my intuition told me to stop it and get a second and third opinion which I did. I then found out I did not need to be on Latanoprost and my eye pressure was normal. I am only 45 and never had a problem with dark circles under my eyes which developed two days after I started using the eye drops.
Avatar n tn Now on blue cap drops 2x/pd, beta blocker 2x/pd, and Latanoprost before bed time. Worried and not sure how to take this????????
Avatar f tn Diagnosised as open-angle glaucoma. I use latanoprost drops which successfully control the pressure. (Last measured at 13 to 14) My opthalmologist has said that lens replacement may alleviate the pressure. I would not need to use the eye drops afterwards. What is your opionion? Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn Latanoprost is not as strong as travaprost (same family of glaucoma medications). Travaprost became generic in Jan 2020 and is now much less expensive. Consider going on it. Usually will lower IOP 2 pts at least more than latanoprost. SLT doesn't have many risks, (unlike ALT which had post laser spikes of high IOP). Glaucoma due to trauma is less likely to respond than the regular primary open angle glaucoma (POAG).
Avatar f tn Hello I am in bromonadine for my glaucoma. I feel like it's making me very sleepy and causing dry mouth and sometimes eye pain. My doctor says these are not usual symptoms aka not real. Does anyone else have these experiences or similar? Thanks.
Avatar m tn There are 3 other types of glaucoma medication available and also glaucoma laser therapy. And I would ask the glaucoma doctor to make a change in medications. If you have mild glaucoma or are being treated because your are an ocular hypertensive or high risk glaucoma suspect you could even stop the medication (with your eye MDs permission) for 3 weeks to see if they get better.
Avatar f tn They said that my cornea is really thick and my optic nerves are oddly shaped, but there is nothing to worry about at this time. I was prescribed latanoprost which I took and my eye pressure had decreased as it should at my follow up visit in January. Since then, I have undergone some heart testing due to having palpitations and I ended up going off of the latanoprost, with permission from my doctor. I haven't noticed a large difference in my eyes until recently.
Avatar m tn What do most of you take as a 1st line med when DX’d with glaucoma? I have been glaucoma suspect for 20 yrs. Father was DX’d with glaucoma yrs. ago prior to testing for corneal thickness. My sibling has good fields and exams & high pressures. My corneas are thicker & my pressures have been 25-27 (recently 28 in one eye) for 20+ yrs. I had cataract surg. 3 yrs.
Avatar n tn The retinal specialist seemed to be a loss. He is now recommending a glaucoma specialist. We are not sure what to do.
Avatar m tn Then my dad undergone catract treatment in the right eye and after that he came to knw that he has got glaucoma and after consulting different doctors he found that he is suffering from retinopathy....the last time he consulted a doctor he has been told to take 3 times avastin injection subsequently for 3 months one injection each month but he has already taken 2 times avastin few months back and doesn't help him much to improve his vision.
Avatar m tn Lumigan is a glaucoma medication that is put directly on the eye. Latisse is the same medication, different packaging for eyelash growth and it is painted on the eyelashes with a brush. I suppose the study that was completed 12/31/09 for growing eyelashes was only done on upper lid eyelashes. Then that's all that the FDA will allow them to say.
Avatar m tn Hi l l am 46 years old l have glaucoma and been on eye drops ten years, although some serve damage my central and Peripheral vision is still very good according to my eye doctor. Last few months l noticed when l am outdoors if l cover each eye with my hand on look in the distance l noticed the vision in my left eye is not as good or as sharp as my right eye.
Avatar m tn 1. Your sister and all blood relatives need to be tested YEARLY and will need an additional glaucoma test such as visual fields or nerve fiber layer OCT. 2. Some glaucoma drops leave dark circles around the eye. The most common is LUMIGAN (US brand name), less common latanoprost or travaprost. 3. what drops are you taking?
Avatar f tn Also in 2018 a new type of eye drop called a Rho Kinase inhibitor should be available in the US. Combined with latanoprost it will be a wonderful drop for many types of glaucoma.
Avatar m tn l dont mind putting up with it as long as its not doing any harm to my eyes, can taking so many glaucoma eye drops damage to your eyes long term such as the preservatives, l think l read BAK long term is not good and can damage the drainage meshwork. ? s that possible? Can you think of any other glaucoma eye drops l could suggest to my specialist that might work.
Avatar m tn ve just had an advanced cataract removed from my left eye and monvision iol used and I hoped for a big vision improvement, but there is significant glaucoma involvement and what I thought I was a fully ripe cataract seems to be glaucoma vision loss. (I'm still still just 2 weeks post op.) A lot of my peripheral vision remains, though this has yet to be tested post op. I was completely unaware I had developed glaucoma in one eye.
Avatar m tn I have had a complete dilated eye exam, eye photos, visual field test, and an OCT all done over the past couple months with my comprehensive ophthalmologist. The glaucoma in my right eye has been stable for the past 3 years with the eyedrops. My right eye only has the defect in one quadrant shown on the VFT as the nasal superior quadrant.
17644146 tn?1458782868 Moreover recent studies done on latanoprost the most common used generic glaucoma drops in the world, manufactured by over 25 companies found some where underfilled, some dispensed drops too large so that the medication would not last the theoretical length of time. i.e. instead of lasting 6 weeks it would only last 5 even if none were spilled or wasted.
Avatar f tn If you are going to trust your eyes and vision to this Eye MD you need to do what he says. Those are excellent suggestions. It possible you don't have glaucoma and are just a "glaucoma suspect" If you do have glaucoma there are other eye drops with fewer side effects you can try (latanoprost).
Avatar m tn also some people are born with an extra row of eyelashes this is called distachiasis , also some medications notably the glaucoma medicines latanoprost, lumigan and travitan-z causes eyelashs to grow exuberantly lastly small tumors on the eye or eyelid called dermoids can grown hairs. Trauma to the eyelid can cause lashes to grow the wrong way.
Avatar m tn The dilated pupil is the least of them. You have traumatic glaucoma, traumatic iritis and you are at high risk for a retinal detachment (RD) and traumatic cataract. There are some good reasons that many ophthalmologists would feel you absolutely should not be on pilocarpine. (hopefully you aren't) as it increases the risk of RD and makes traumatic iritis worse. You can look up the contra-indications.
