lantus

Avatar f tn My daughter is 17 and is having trouble with adjusting insulin doses...how much lantus would be a good dose to start with?
Avatar n tn The question I have is is there any Financial assistance program available to help me with my 550. premium. We previously were receiving help from an organization that helped due to his diability, now I pray there is also such an organizaion to help with diabetis.
Avatar n tn I have just switched from Mixtard/Actrapid to Lantus/Actrapid 3 days ago due to very poor blood sugar control at night and in the morning. The current dosage of Lantus is 15 units in the morning with additional 15 units of Actrapic before evety meal i.e. breakfast, lunch and dinner. Blood sugar level in the morning shoots up to 15-16mmol (fasting), by noon it will remain at 9-12mmol (before lunch) and will gradually comes down to 4-5mmol before dinner.
Avatar n tn Some doctors use a protocol with fast acting Novalog and Lantus. There are lots of missing pieces in your story. The best thing to do is to get involved with a R.N. or nurse practicioner specializing in diabetes. They will spend more time with you that an M.D. They will set up a program that is perfect for you. You need to know the glucose levels when you go to bed to determine what adjustment is due in the morning, if any.
Avatar n tn I take humalog on sliding scale 1 unit per 10 carbs and I take it every time I eat and I also take 50 units of lantus at bed time.So my question is can this be causing my weight gain? I think the lantus initially caused me to gain about 20lbs. to begin with 6yrs. ago and I'm now over weight.I'm on my feet constantly at work 9 hrs. a day so I don't think it is not exercising and I don't seem to be losing anything...
Avatar n tn t happened in so long that I cannot remember what the formula is to calculate the lantus. I do remember that prior to going on the pump, her endocrinologist switched her lantus shot from AM to PM as her morning bg's were higher than they wanted them. You should discuss this possibility with your endo along with your thoughts of splitting the dose, however I have never heard of this as an option. I gather from your post that you are not getting much assistance from the nurse practitioner.
Avatar f tn Ask them about baby clothing also.
1622229 tn?1299050798 http://www.bms.com/products/Pages/programs.aspx It took about a week and they have approved me to receive the medication and are shipping it to my home. If anyone is suffering financial hardship and needs medication, I encourage you to fill out the application and get it into them. Good luck and God bless.
Avatar n tn Take 10 units of Humalog before meals and 55units of Lantus before bed. What is the sliding scale when sick. Have sinus infection and bad cough.
764075 tn?1234495599 Yes, I agree with you on Roche. After begging/borrowing $$$ from family for the first 2 shipments of Pegasys from private pharm & insurance. I applied to Roche assistance program and in 2 weeks my first no cost shipment was on it's way. The only complaint that I have is I have to be home to sign for it.
Avatar f tn you have to be offered COBRA is you were covered while you were an employee. I would ask the HR department one last time and if the answer is still the same IMMEDIATELY contact your local MS chapter and ask for their assistance. They have specialists to help with these types of problems. There is a patient co-pay assistance program with Shared Solutions - be sure to talk to them about getting your drug covered.
Avatar f tn Because she has sleeping issue and is late alot, and because she has ibs and has had to be dosed in the car or go in after an accident, she is being kicked off the program. She is on 120mg and will be detoxed in 30 days. I am not saying that she was not in the wrong about things but this is very sudden. She has no income--I have been trying to pay her insurance and methadone fees myself as she cannot work and has exhausted short term disability benefits.
Avatar n tn I used to have occasional very severe night lows, and when I started taking Lantus and Humalog/Novalog, I tried taking the Lantus in the morning at the recommendation of an excellent endo. It solved the problem for me. Even if he tests before he goes to bed, a lot can change in the 8 hours while we sleep. Going high and getting complications is a miserable alternative and it is NOT necessary.
333672 tn?1273792789 Apparently, Acorda has both a co-pay assistance program and a patient assistance program for the uninsured and underinsured. There are some details at http://brassandivory.blogspot.com/2010/02/annual-price-for-ampyra-set-at-12850.html with more info in the comments. And yes, the base price for a 30-day supply is $1,056. The way the co-pay program works is that if your co-pay is more than $40, Acorda will pay the difference so the patient's max out-of-pocket is $40.
Avatar f tn (stent placement) I am currently taking Metformin 1000 mg x 2 twice daily, plus Lantus Solostar, 27 units. When I began the insulin, my blood glucose was over 400! Now it is down between 200 - 230 in the morning. They want to put me on a different type of insulin to take with meals. I don't want to do that. Is there anything I can do to lower my blood sugar naturally without taking more insulin?
