Avatar m tn I am 61 and on Lansoprazole for acid. I used to suffer a lot from heart burn. Now I am taking this med every day the pain has gone down to my lower abdomen and at night. My sleeping is of very poor quality because of the pain which interrupts my sleep and eventually will wake me up around 3 am. When I wake up I will go flat on my back or into the fetal position and fart a storm....on and on some lasting a few seconds continuously, which makes me laugh at myself.

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer back in February 2010. History: Prior to the diagnosis I had felt a strange pressure in my stomach occasionally which started around October 2009. I probably should have gone to the doctor when I was feeling the swelling/pressure but I thought it was just from being cramped into the Miata I had just purchased. I bought the car because some guy ran a red light and hit my previous car.
Avatar f tn Beginning of the month I started being sick (throwing up part food part acid (I think)) my stomach pain has increased so I am on Codine for it. The Doctor have upped my dose of Lansoprazole and I am also on Ranitidine as well. Apart from the pain and being sick it hurts to eat food and after I have eaten also I am loosing my appetite too. My diet hasn't changed and not changed anything else.
Avatar m tn You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Avatar f tn No right sided pain or discomfort. Ultrasound negative for stones, normal upper and lower endoscopy, meds for IBS do not work. Currently taking Lansoprazole for reflux, but does not help much. No diarrhea, maybe some constipation. Got worse over past yr. Fatty meals do seem to make things a bit worse. GP orders Hida scan and ejection fraction was 22%. Hida scan did reproduce many of the symptoms, but they occured about 15 min after the scan was completed.
5276842 tn?1365878296 I don't think you have an option to eat gluten. If you have Celiac, eating gluten will lead to other autoimmune problems. Get off the gluten completely and you may have remission or at least improvement in your fibromyalgia. For the constipation, what works for me best is a drug called Amitiza. It is not cheap, but it is less expensive than it used to be. I just take it every 3 days or so. I also use Miralax, which seems to be the same thing as your macrogol.
Avatar f tn I have had GERD for over 10 years (been taking lansoprazole 30mg that whole time), and was recently diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and chronic gastritis after an endoscopy (along with very low vitamin D levels). Blood test does not indicate celiac disease, although results of intestinal biopsies not yet known. What I do not understand is that my weight is going UP, despite dieting. I am at my wits end and getting so low because of this. Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening??
Avatar f tn This could be so many things. It could be anything from viral to gallstones, IBS, Gerd etc. Go to the doctor if this continues. Have you had your routine check ups. Word of advice dont stop trying until you get answers!

Avatar f tn Hi, im hoping someone will be able to help me understand a bit more about my symptoms. I had my gallbladder removed 10 years ago and had an acidy feeling in my stomach for the past 5 years. I eventually realised it wasn't normal hunger pangs and went to to the doctor 2 years ago who put me on lansoprazole which comletely cleared it up, so after 5 months I stopped taking it.
Avatar m tn My dr also thinks Ive got IBS. Take lansoprazole and domperidone which helps sometimes but not when its severe. I too put a cold wet flannel on the back of my neck and it does tend to help with the nausea though I dont know why! Also eat chrystallized ginger (from health stores) which can ease the nausea. Dont know how to make it stop unfortunately but would love to find a cure as it affects my life badly.

Avatar m tn Tried various OTC for acid reduction and acid blockers under original suspicion of ulcers (lansoprazole, mylanta,) these only caused further loose and irregular bowel symptoms. (Now discontinued). GI suggested IBgard after suggesting IBS, in which after finding out the daily cost I am using peppermint oil gel capsules. These calm my gut does not remove the pain. I have a Xanax prescription as needed for anxiety taken to help me sleep when the pain keeps me awake.
1103038 tn?1449650320 Does it sound like this? http://heartburn.about.com/cs/articles/a/Gastroparesis.htm Or does it occur after eating certain foods like wheat, rye, barley, malt? And sound like this? http://kidshealth.org/teen/diseases_conditions/digestive/celiac.html If it seems to occur after eating wheat, then it could be a problem with gluten. If you can buy foods with teff instead of wheat (hoping you can get this since it grows in Nigeria or something).
