Avatar m tn m back on Ranitidine as the side affects of Lansoprazole were unpleasant and just as bad or worse as the GERD. When I stopped taking Lansoprazole I had bad symptoms for a few days but they subsided. However since then my Acid Reflux / GERD has been more or less what it was before starting Lansoprazole. Some days its worse than others. I've also read about the negative side effects of PPI drugs.
Avatar m tn So, I decided to rstrict going to the toilet and try to hold the urge for at least two hours between visits. Low and behold it worked. I found, with a little will power, I could reverse the frequent visits, and now I go every 4 or 5 hours and perhaps once during the night. It turned out to be a developed habit after all.
Avatar f tn The Doctor have upped my dose of Lansoprazole and I am also on Ranitidine as well. Apart from the pain and being sick it hurts to eat food and after I have eaten also I am loosing my appetite too. My diet hasn't changed and not changed anything else. However, the constant pain, being sick, feeling sick, loosing my voice and my appetite is getting me concerned. I am not pregnant before anyone asks.
Avatar n tn I get bloated, and have gas pains between my gentials and belly button. If you press on that area, it really hurts. I also have acid reflux along with this; every time I've vomited, it has been extremely acidic. Lost nearly 40 pounds, and I almost never have an appetite. If you have any ideas what this could be, please let me know.
Avatar n tn This is because lansoprazole and other proton pump inhibitors weaken the bones and have been linked to the development of osteosteoporosis. People who are at higher risk for sustaining such injuries are those who take higher doses of this medication and those who take this medication for one year or longer. Also, people who are 50 years of age and older are also at risk of sustaining similar injuries.
Avatar m tn Your son will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals or H-2 blocker such as ranitidine for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried.
197575 tn?1215532624 Is there a difference between a complex nodule and a complex cystic nodule? I know complex means both solid and cystic. My friend's ultrasound call it a complex cystic nodule. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I take 300mg up to 2-3 xs a day of ranitidine. a generic prilosec and always take one before I lie down for bed at night Its great and its on the $4 list at most pharmacies!
1210142 tn?1266077031 Taking Diltiazem, Lisinopril, Aspirin and Ranitidine as well. Have been having constant stomach and chest pains and the doctors are not able to find the cause- at least they don’t think it is a cardiac one./the chest pains/ My gastroenterologist suggested I stop taking Ranitidine and switch to Pantroprazole. I have read a lot about the interaction between Plavix and PPI’s but he thinks only Omeprazole have more effect on Plavix, not Pantoprazole.
Avatar f tn I've had occassional PVC's for 20 plus years. I also have Mitral Valve Prolaps. About 2 months ago I started taking Prilosec for reflux. I then began to have a huge increase in the number of PVC's. Sometimes lasting all day. I've been on an event monitor for the past 2 weeks. I didn't even think that to relate this increase in PVC's to the Prilosec until about a week ago.
Avatar m tn To verify the side effects were caused by the ranitidine I would stop for a few weeks and use TUMS instead. I repeated this cycle several times. The symptoms would go away each time I was off the ranitidine for a week or so. I also noticed when taking TUMS that I only need to take less than one tablet for it to be effective (say about 500 mg /day. Occasionally 750mg). One question I have is would it be better to only take Tums instead - even if I need to use ~500mg each day?

Avatar m tn The endoscope that proved I am infected with gastritis was 20 days a go, and yes I am still suffering from this disease and the Librax and the Motilium are for this desease and I use it now. My disease story is as follow: twelve years ago, I suffered from stomach pain, all the doctors I met was advising me to take Lansoprazole, or Amprazole, or Rantadine. No one of these medications helped me but my situation went worse with vomiting and severe pain and loss in weight.
Avatar f tn I did find, like CalGal, a link between Omeprazole and a cough, and it was also causing itchy skin down my spine area. Changing my PPI to Lansoprazole recently has not made the slightest difference, and I continue to cough all day and all night, a dry, irritating cough. I also have gastritis, oesophagitis, a Hiatus hernia, none of which had been symptomatic other than nausea, and a lack of desire to eat.
Avatar m tn No change in treatment(was on Zenhale at the time but inhalers over the years made little if any difference). Cough started ti come back a little early December and got worse, until I am back to frequent coughing and spitting up phlegm. No seasonality to coughing. Sorry for the lengthy description but I find it difficult to function and thought giving as much info as possible would help..
Avatar n tn t believe, can feel milk fermenting in her even, has pain on feeding and is distressed and cries a lot, and doesn't gain weight despite vast amounts of calories (more than enough for catch-up growth, she's under a dietician). Obviously i stopped the lansoprazole. Also had a trial of metronidazole by a paediatrician who wasn't convinced of overgrowth - she gained 10oz in one week - the best gain ever! But recurrent symptoms of misery and gassiness.
Avatar n tn Have a sensitive stomach and get burning pains especially if food has chilly or is strong in acid. Ranitidine has helped but from time to time suffer missing hearbeats. Having given up the drug for a while things improved but stomach started to suffer again and thus the reason to re-start the drug.
Avatar m tn I was then prescribed a nasal spray which made no difference. Right now I am taking lansoprazole 15mg tablets (1 day) which is essentially for acid reflux. I was on a higher dosage at one point. It does seem to make a slight difference but it's still nowhere near "normal". Does anyone have any idea what my condition could be? I would very grateful for any advice - like I say, it's had such a negative effect on my life for years now.
Avatar m tn And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.
Avatar n tn Had IV fluids for a day and Cyclizine injections to stop sickness, plus Ranitidine antacids which made a huge difference for me. Will be on Cyclizine + Ranitidine oral tablets for the rest of my pregnancy, am 18+2 and looking forward to being able to enjoy it at last!
Avatar m tn ve never been officially diagnosed, just something my GP thought might be bothering me and prescribed me ranitidine... long story short, the ranitidine worked fine (150 mg/2x a day) and I was symptom free within 24 hours. Flash forward to 5 weeks ago, I thought I was developing a bit of a chest cold with some chest tightness. Figured the cough would come along later... funny thing, it never came.
Avatar f tn I take ranitidine and recently switched from lansoprazole to pansoprazole after 1 year. For the past 4 years I've had short periods where I stutter, ranging from a few days to a few weeks. I really don't think it's a concern, but lately the period of normal speech has been less and less and my family is concerned. I just visited my pediatrician and didn't think to mention this. I don't have any neurological or psychological disorders, although I do have very bad anxiety.
Avatar f tn Importantly, differences between subtype 1a and 1b (by far the most frequently encountered genotype 1 subtypes in clinical practice) include different efficacies of antiviral drugs and different resistance profiles to such drugs. Indeed, several HCV inhibitors appear to have selective activity against different HCV genotype 1 subtypes, both in vitro and in vivo....
Avatar m tn what is the difference between addiction and dependence? I was reading another post and someone mentioned that he/she thought someone was dependent not addicted.. I'm just curious. Thanks in advance for any responses.
