Common Questions and Answers about Lamictal withdraw

lamictal

Avatar m tn s possible that your anxiety is a withdraw symptom from the Lamictal. It may not be a large dose but with some drugs and people's body's a small decrease can have withdraw symptoms. If you do start the Depokote, your anxiety may disappear. Also check out CrazyMeds.com. It is very helpful too.
Avatar m tn I don't think lamictal is addictive. I've been on many high and low doses over the last 10 yrs: never experienced side effects and never relieved any symptoms. "I am more manic and very rarely depressed when I'm not medicated." Lamictal is prescribed for people who lean more towards the depressive side than manic side and/or hypomania. Did you try lithium or depakote first? They are usually the first prescribed mood stabilizers for mania.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am trying to wean off klonapin and was given Librium to withdraw from. Can I open the capsule to water taper? Or should I divide the dose into gelatin capsules. I have 25 mg capsules . I was on .75 mg of klonapin Is it best to take the librium dose once a day or divide it 2 3 times a day. My dr said go cold turkey off klonapin and take librium as needed. This is not working for me and my Dr want listen. I need help.

1540869 tn?1351214013 So i've been taking lamictal for about 3 days now , and it seems to be working ok. So far so good, the buspar did not work out as well for me. Made me really shaky and felt like i was falling or dropping (weird feeling) i know , but i'm wondering if maybe it's not the buspar and maybe could it be because i was on zoloft and klonopin for 7 months? And just switched to 2 different meds? or could it just be the buspar? I don't know .... I have different feelings about it.
Avatar f tn I went to my MD who took me off Neurontin which I take to much of anyway and put me on Lamictal - when I went to a new physco Dr. for the first time he asked who diagnosed me with Bi-polar - I told him no one my MD put me on it to get off the Neurotin, that it would make me more comfortable - has anybody heard of this? Lamitical being taken to withdraw fron Neurotin? THANK YOU!!!!!
1806584 tn?1316208037 We are on Lamictal, Lithium and Abilify and are thinking of going Lamictal alone also. How is Lamictal monotherapy going for your, and were you able to wean off Abilify from 10 to 0?
Avatar f tn Pdoc agreed and started weaning me off while titrating me up on Lamictal. I’m only on 25mg. Go up to 50mg in another week. Down to approx 1.5mg Abilify now. Feel HORRIBLE. Also on Zoloft 100mg. Having racing thoughts, anxiety, mood swings, bone pain and sweats. From what I’ve read, this is Abilify withdrawal. Do I just have to feel awful until Lamictal dose is high enough to be therapeutic? Thanks!!
10608291 tn?1411415602 I don't know if I can distinguish what is real emotion or withdrawal from Effexor, Lamictal, Remeron. How long does this last. I have been taking St. John's Wort, B12, Valerian, and L Tyrosene to build up my own natural supply of serotonin, dopamine. This crying thing is the pits. I'm so sick of medications. I want to have a baby without spina bifida or missing limbs and cardiac anamolies, I've been on and off meds for years.
1448748 tn?1312956208 I was taking lamictal for pain and fatigue problems of unknown cause for the past 4 months, I've recently been having blurred vision and headaches in the last three weeks.
524020 tn?1223161005 I was on lamictal and ativan at the same time - I was okay until my son was murderedin 1/05 - and then it seemed like nothing helped - suffered from PTSD so I was going from one med to the other - however doctor kept me on lamictal than I switched doctors and the new one put me on 400 mgs of lamictal and that's when my problems started I got bad rash and once you get a rash from lamictal you can't go back on it - however I was okay under regular dose of 200 mgs - also had problems when d
Avatar f tn I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.
1235186 tn?1656987798 I am on Lamictal and have no major side effects. The scary thing about it is you can get steven johnsons syndrom from it when you first start it. I have anxiety too and that scared the crap out of me and took me two days of trying to take it to build up the courage to do it. It is suppose to be a rare possible side effect though.
Avatar f tn Everyone has to increase the dosage of lamictal (lamotrigine) slowly starting at 25mg. I have been on as high as 400mg but had to drop back down to 200mg because it is an antiseizure med and I am having ECT and 400mg would interfere with that. I have been on it for years and didn't see any difference in weight with it. Other drugs I am taking are not so weight friendly. I am now exercising and trying to diet but little success. How did you lose your weight?
439168 tn?1307931740 Hi. This really isn't a question, but I wanted to pass this on to you...You might already be aware, I'm not sure....but I just called my pharmacy to refill my lamictal. I do the mail order thing and get a 3 month's supply. Lamictal didn't always have a generic....not that I'm aware of...anyway...it was costing me a whopping co-pay of nearly 180 bucks. Well, there IS a generic....I know most people don't like the generics, but they have always worked for me.
Avatar f tn I'm 19 and have been epileptic for 6 years, I have tried a variety of medications including keppra (giving me suicidal tendencies) and a couple of others which didn't control seizures. I have always been on Lamictal, which is slowly being increased after any fits or 'episodes' until the right dose for me is reached, in conjunction with this I also take Ethisuxomide, a drug that has worked well in controlling my absences.
Avatar f tn HI,I was put on Lamictal yesterday...Dr feels it might help with my deprssion as i cant seem to take antidepressants.I was in abilify but i started about 3 weeks into gettting extremely dizzy so she had me stop it last week,i saw her on Monday and she put me on 25 mg of Lam ictal as to build up to more....
Avatar f tn I have started taking Lamictal and it seems to be working to keep the mania under control. But the pills taste so bad. What are some other medication options?
1134609 tn?1269272200 The depressive episodes are kind of new to me; when I was cycling a lot, it was always towards the agitated mania side of the disorder. She's been pushing Lithium off and on over the oast few months; everytime I have a down swing. But, with every increase in Lamictal, my mood stabilizes more and more. If the Lamictal isn't effective as higher doses, then so be it, I'll work with the Lithium.
Avatar f tn How long does it take for an increased level of Lamictal work? My doctor upped my mgs from 125 for 1 week, then 150. I've felt more restless and have a hard time comprehending things when my husband asks me a simple question, such as where is something. I don't like this feeling, but I'm holding out that this will help me, along with my current meds (Depakote, Cymbalta, Geodon). At this point, I just don't know what's working and what isn't.
925572 tn?1246540031 I bet it isn't the lamictal, it's your worries and depression. living on the edge of a cliff all the time and feeling insecure makes the person concentrate less, have volatile memory especially the short one. This happens to all of us. I believe you should do something regarding your depression. Whereas it says that antidepressants worsen mania causing rapid cycling and mixed states, but most BP pts take them to be able to function.
560501 tn?1383612740 Hello Friends :) I went to an MS Seminar last night (on MS) He heads a Well Known MS Clinic in PuertoRico. After his Talk he opened up the floor with a Q and A time for us to ask questions. I asked him how many patients he has or how often he see's people w/ MS that have an AD also. He said very often! I asked him how he treated his patients w/ AD.
