Avatar f tn Hi all After a couple of weeks of reducing my 700mg daily dose, took my final Lithium tablet just over a week ago. I followed doctors orders as to the withdrawal timescale, and they said it should not cause any problems. They advised that it's just a type of salt, and is not even technically a drug, so it's not the same as withdrawing from other meds.
1108183 tn?1292416673 I just started taking Methotrexate after recently being diagnosed with RA, and have been taking Lamictal for years now for my depression. I read that both Lamictal and Methotrexate depletes your body of folic acid. My question is- If I take a multi vitamin that has 200 mgs of vitamin C and 400 mcg's of folic acid- would it be too much to take another 500 mgs of vitamin C and 800 mcgs of folic acid on top of the multi vitamin? I just want to take extra precautions from getting sick.
Avatar f tn i have decided to stop getting lamictal ( currently on a 200 dosage). I am afraid of withdrawal symptoms but i want to get off it. I was thinking i probably need to follow some sort of plan regarding how often or how much of it i should be getting as a dosage daily. I know i cannot do it over one day. Is there anyone that had stopped taking lamictal after a couple of years and did not suffer any physical symptom? If so how did you go about it? thanks, love, lotuspond.
1983010 tn?1326397026 I mostly only been taking 25 mg but started the 13th of Jan 50 mg and again the 30th of last month is when I started the medicine at 25 mg. This is just so screwed up cause I was on Lamictal 100 mg but this one is Lamictal XR two different ones I guess, not a problem on the Lamictal Regular.
Avatar n tn He is in a group home and recently he started to have severe behavorial problems such as grabbing and tearing a caregivers shirt and punching. Avatar f tn My doc started me on lamictal, with 25mg/day and gradually working up. I'm now on 50 mg/day and tomorrow will go to 100mg, then a week later to my maintenance dose of 200mg/day. That seems like an awfully high dose to me. I'm feeling a lot better now on just the 50 mg -- why do I need to keep upping the dose? I don't see my doc for another month so that's why I'm posting the question here, to get other opinions before I go to see him.
Avatar n tn I promise that buying newborn sizes are a waste of money. Just buy one or two outfits for pics at the hospital if you like but better to buy size 3 or size 0-3.
Avatar f tn I got on Invega back in Aug 07 and am enjoying a nearly normal life. I also am on Lamictal & Lexapro but I don't think 3 meds are good for everybody. I'd tell your shrink that you need less to get more effect. It might just be temporary but I wouldn't chance it.

526901 tn?1216334227 ve been on everything all with no effect or bad side effects. Have you tried Lamictal? A lot of people have success with that one. Check with the doc, you shouldn't have to suffer. Oh I forgot I have Panic Disorder and I was given Prozac for it 10 years ago and the attacks went away and haven't come back, i"ve been off Prozac for years now but still no panic. Hang in there, you'll find the right medication, it just takes time and I know that *****.

Avatar f tn I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.
1235186 tn?1656987798 I am on Lamictal and have no major side effects. The scary thing about it is you can get steven johnsons syndrom from it when you first start it. I have anxiety too and that scared the crap out of me and took me two days of trying to take it to build up the courage to do it. It is suppose to be a rare possible side effect though.
Avatar f tn Everyone has to increase the dosage of lamictal (lamotrigine) slowly starting at 25mg. I have been on as high as 400mg but had to drop back down to 200mg because it is an antiseizure med and I am having ECT and 400mg would interfere with that. I have been on it for years and didn't see any difference in weight with it. Other drugs I am taking are not so weight friendly. I am now exercising and trying to diet but little success. How did you lose your weight?
439168 tn?1307931740 Hi. This really isn't a question, but I wanted to pass this on to you...You might already be aware, I'm not sure....but I just called my pharmacy to refill my lamictal. I do the mail order thing and get a 3 month's supply. Lamictal didn't always have a generic....not that I'm aware of...anyway...it was costing me a whopping co-pay of nearly 180 bucks. Well, there IS a generic....I know most people don't like the generics, but they have always worked for me.
Avatar f tn I'm 19 and have been epileptic for 6 years, I have tried a variety of medications including keppra (giving me suicidal tendencies) and a couple of others which didn't control seizures. I have always been on Lamictal, which is slowly being increased after any fits or 'episodes' until the right dose for me is reached, in conjunction with this I also take Ethisuxomide, a drug that has worked well in controlling my absences.
