lamictal numbness

I take 200 mg every night and about 10 minutes after taking it I have numbness of my tongue, a funny taste, and feeling in my mouth. This lasts all night and it goes away about an hour after I wake up. During the day I get tired from exerting the smallest force. I’ve also noticed that I space off a lot and, although not often, I experience some confusion. Are these normal side effects of the medication?

Im taking lamictal to try and see if it helps with neuropathic pain, I am not diagnosed with ms,actually just started to look at the possibility last week due to vision issues and normal eye exam. Well my doc said to stop taking my lamictal to see if it helped with my vision issues and if vision issues persist then test for ms.

Since being diagnosed, I take Lamictal 200mg (mood stabilizer) and have therapy. Even though I still deal with my bp issues (hypomanic and depression), I can see them coming and I am no longer "numb". It does depend on your meds and if you are feeling out of reality - you need to mention that to your pdoc. That's a common feeling during depression and the "out of body" or loss of reality could be a manic precursor.

Hi Everyone! I recently posted that I had been increased to 400 mg of Lamictal, going from 200 mg. To say that was a bad idea is an understatement! One day, out of the blue, I literally couldn't use my legs! My brain would say walk but the message did not register in my legs. Trouble is, it wouldn't last all day so the first time I thought, well maybe, I had been given too much anthesia when I had dental surgery, so I shrugged it off.

What is your actual diagnosis? Lamictal is an odd choice of med if you're treating just depression and an anxiety disorder. Lamictal is typically prescribed for people with bi-polar disorder, which is a COMPLETELY different animal. Besides the Celexa and Lamictal, what other meds have you tried? Are you in therapy? It's hard to say if the itching is just a side effect or if it's related to an adverse reaction. Most allergic reactions would present with a rash.

I added another 100 mg of lamictal last night and later this morning. I have staring spells and am prone to seizures at times but I have never felt so foggy and sort of dizzy and out of it. I have schizophrenia and my family doctor thinks it is anxiety. I recently had blood work taken but I am not sure if they regularly test for tia or an impending stroke. The sensations went away after an hour or so. Is this a precursor of something to come or could it be a seizure or anxiety?

Here's a very brief summary of my symptoms: * tingling/numbness/burning in hands and feet * memory loss/problems with thought process..cant remember how to fold a shirt.. insisting "cat" is spelled "TAC" + many other examples * blacked out while driving once..a month ago * headaches..some very short and intense * recent instances of double vision * constipation or diahhrea..rarely in between * fatigue * can never get enough sleep..

they were testing her for MS. She is experiencing facial numbness, dizziness, blurred vision, muscle weakness, tremors...and a few other symptoms as well. she has an appointment in almost 8 months with the neurologist. I know this is not for diagnostics on here, thats why we are seeing a number of doctors. Her symptoms have been progressing rapidly over the past year or so, would MS be off the table here and if so, what else causes these kinds of symptoms?

**A few months prior to the event, she had headaches, sleeplessness, and numbness/tingling in her fingers and toes. She was also taking Zoloft, Spironolactone--2 times daily & Yaz--Generic (Both prescribed together for oil/acne control), Ambien (As needed for sleeping), Clonazepam--1/2 tab (Anxiety Med, also used for seizures but not out on that for any seizure symptoms).** Her bloodwork came back saying her sodium was low, but the CT was normal.

I feel like a lost a whole part of myself and its pretty depressing. I dont have very bad szs I have partial siezures and am currently on lamictal and keppra. Let me tell you irritable is not the word, I'm horrible on keppra like a different person. I think my doc is going to wean me off and just keep me on lamictal. Although my blood work came back with elevated liver enzymes and low white count so who knows.

I relapsed while on Lexapro and my doc started me on Effexor and Lamictal. The effexor was horrible for me, I felt awful and my blood pressure skyrocketed. The Lamictal is supposed to be a mood stabilizer. I am taking 200mg daily. My doc weaned me from Effexor and put me back on prozac 20mg (I stopped it several years back because it was making me extremely irritable). The prozac does not seem to be working like it did before.

I am on Lamictal and have no major side effects. The scary thing about it is you can get steven johnsons syndrom from it when you first start it. I have anxiety too and that scared the crap out of me and took me two days of trying to take it to build up the courage to do it. It is suppose to be a rare possible side effect though.

Everyone has to increase the dosage of lamictal (lamotrigine) slowly starting at 25mg. I have been on as high as 400mg but had to drop back down to 200mg because it is an antiseizure med and I am having ECT and 400mg would interfere with that. I have been on it for years and didn't see any difference in weight with it. Other drugs I am taking are not so weight friendly. I am now exercising and trying to diet but little success. How did you lose your weight?

Hi. This really isn't a question, but I wanted to pass this on to you...You might already be aware, I'm not sure....but I just called my pharmacy to refill my lamictal. I do the mail order thing and get a 3 month's supply. Lamictal didn't always have a generic....not that I'm aware of...anyway...it was costing me a whopping co-pay of nearly 180 bucks. Well, there IS a generic....I know most people don't like the generics, but they have always worked for me.

I'm 19 and have been epileptic for 6 years, I have tried a variety of medications including keppra (giving me suicidal tendencies) and a couple of others which didn't control seizures. I have always been on Lamictal, which is slowly being increased after any fits or 'episodes' until the right dose for me is reached, in conjunction with this I also take Ethisuxomide, a drug that has worked well in controlling my absences.

HI,I was put on Lamictal yesterday...Dr feels it might help with my deprssion as i cant seem to take antidepressants.I was in abilify but i started about 3 weeks into gettting extremely dizzy so she had me stop it last week,i saw her on Monday and she put me on 25 mg of Lam ictal as to build up to more....

The depressive episodes are kind of new to me; when I was cycling a lot, it was always towards the agitated mania side of the disorder. She's been pushing Lithium off and on over the oast few months; everytime I have a down swing. But, with every increase in Lamictal, my mood stabilizes more and more. If the Lamictal isn't effective as higher doses, then so be it, I'll work with the Lithium.

How long does it take for an increased level of Lamictal work? My doctor upped my mgs from 125 for 1 week, then 150. I've felt more restless and have a hard time comprehending things when my husband asks me a simple question, such as where is something. I don't like this feeling, but I'm holding out that this will help me, along with my current meds (Depakote, Cymbalta, Geodon). At this point, I just don't know what's working and what isn't.

I bet it isn't the lamictal, it's your worries and depression. living on the edge of a cliff all the time and feeling insecure makes the person concentrate less, have volatile memory especially the short one. This happens to all of us. I believe you should do something regarding your depression. Whereas it says that antidepressants worsen mania causing rapid cycling and mixed states, but most BP pts take them to be able to function.

Hello Friends :) I went to an MS Seminar last night (on MS) He heads a Well Known MS Clinic in PuertoRico. After his Talk he opened up the floor with a Q and A time for us to ask questions. I asked him how many patients he has or how often he see's people w/ MS that have an AD also. He said very often! I asked him how he treated his patients w/ AD.

I cannot believe they let it get that far without taking you off. I was just on zoloft and clonazapam and i just got switched to buspar and lamictal . I'm taking it for depression and bipolar . But if i have any problems with my balance or remembering things i will get off of it immediately . It would be awesome if they could make just 1 medication that didn't have any side effects wouldn't it?
